I have never heard anyone else sing this song, Only Glen Campbell, He was my childhood idol (BTW, I own over 8,000 records.) Now what instrument did Elvis play? I don't seem to remember. Although Glen was the most sought after guitar player in the USA for a while and did play for the Beach Boys for a while when Brian Wilson was sick. That should tell you a little bit about the ability of Glen Campbell other than his singing, which we all know is excellent. But I think when you add his other musical abilities, ie player and writer, this surpasses Elvis.

I don't know who actually cut it first because Glen says he cut it several years before. His version may pre-date the Elvis version, but regardless.....THE KING's is THE BEST. Elvis lays the lyrics in a different pocket, feels it completely different. However, if I had never heard Elvis's version I would really like this. Glen is great.
