man im getting all kinds of clacks clangs and thumps outta my drivetrain my 04 v has got about 80k on it, im gonna do a full mount overhaul, rear end bushings, motor mounts tranny mount to see if this will help anything my theory is that cadillac wanted these cars to be super quite on the inside instead of performing so they used super soft materials, and they probably expected the original owners to trade the cars in before any of these things went bad. ill let you know how it turns out for me
Turns out, it's not the differential that's making the noise ... the diff is fine. What I've discovered after this vid was posted that apparently the UUC lightweight flywheel that I had just been installed has exposed some harmonic vibration in the drivetrain. It occurs only in 4th gear at about 27-30 MPH.
As far as the banana comment, whatelseiswhere must be a Toyota owner and, though it may be redundant to say so, is clueless about cars.
@rand49er I own a Toyo 4runner with 368,000 miles (still doesn't make any noise), have an A&P license and wouldn't drive anything else on earth (especially American junk).
But I sure as hell wouldn't put a banana in the diff!
I was told you can temporary get rid of the diff nose by shoving a Banana in the diff or add some saw dust into the diff. This will temporarly get rid of the noise.
I want this video on my V500 phone.
