Let one of my former student to talk about proper techniques: Hi coach Javorek, this is Connor Peterson, I was in your weight training class last spring and I wanted to tell you that in the past few months I took your conditioning regimens and used them to come up with an incredible running routine and I am in the best shape of my life, thanks to your programs. I still use your dumbbell complex 1 and 2 and they are phenomenal! I also was able to take your advice to get rid of my shin splints.
No, it is not too fast. When I developed the Complex exercises in 1968, my main concern it was to choose the exercises as much possible to be able performing non-stop continuously in a flawless motion.
The intensity I take up to 70% of the weakest link from a Complex, and as the weight is getting heavier the athlete should be more and more dynamic with the execution.
Upright rows end with your chest rolled upwards and your hips underneath you. It's not a see-saw action. As for the bent over rows, his head is in the wrong position, the back/shoulders are rolled and not straight: and the jerking motion is horrible. If you read my original comment, these types of complex' are fantastic when done properly however, the form here is seriously incorrect on SOME of the movements. You don't need to be a Dr. to see that......
Yeah, for a Dr. I'm completely surprised at the lack of form. These exercises, when performed correctly, are amazing but the person demonstrating the movements in this video is completely incorrect. You should seek additional adivce on the form before starting a workout like this.....
Teaching weight training I always start with this statement: There aren’t dangerous exercises, just incorrect techniques! My 3.5 hours long DVD of exercise techniques you could get the clear image of perfect exercise techniques.
I studied for several years sports biomechanics and this athlete does with 100% perfect technique.
For detailed information write me on ijavorek@jccc.edu
Why does the guy throw his chest into the movement on the bent row portion? Doesn't that just negate the purpose of the exercise? I see guys cheat like this in the gym all the time. They are big but with no athleticism or flexiblity at all.
@muffdaddy02 when watching the UFC not even half of those guys look like the underwear models that i assume you were expecting ( or wanting) to see, and those guys are some of the baddest dudes on the planet. get beyond the superficial and maybe you will find some meaning..
Coach Javorek, I love your complexes! I'm feeling great and looking a lot better. It is amazing how much work gets done in a short period of time when doing these exercises. Thank you so much!
any reason why the athlete does a calf raise on each rep for both the upright row and snatch? just for general up keep of the calf or is there a specific reason
Yes, the reason behind rising up on toes is the desire of involving more stabilizing muscles, stimulating the arms-leg coordination and developing more athleticism by making each movement more powerful. Of course those complexes which include curls, kick back triceps curls, etc, rising up on toes would be detrimental on technique and creating injuries.
@ijavorek thank you very much for the response and for the added knowledge. I actually added the "rising up on the toes" to my complex 1 today and i fully understand your reasoning. hope to see some more great vids from you in the future.
Coach Javorek trained my son 8 years ago to help him recover from patella tendinitis. Doctors and Physical Therapists had already failed. After 6 months, the tendon was stronger and the pain was gone. My son's team won the basketball state championship 4 months later and he received a D1 scholarship. He has since graduated and plays ball overseas. This man is a genius.
javorek is the best! i took his class at JCCC and helped me win two brazilian jiu-jitsu tournaments as well as my first mixed martial arts bout. If you remember me mr. javorek it is mike wisler, much thanks goes out to you!
Rounded back is good ? what the hells going on ! Where do you study ? Who say that ?
I´m a weightlifting coach for ten years at the major level possible: TRAINING A OLYMPIC CHAMPION,2 WORLD JUNIOR GOLD MEDALLIST AN 7 PAN AM CHAMPIONS..and you say "rounded back is good " ???? It´s a bull shit, pure bull shit !
First of all...I`m really sorry about my letters. Honestly I confuse this complex with the Olympic style weightlifting technique. But Istvan(who is a true gentleman)take your time and explain me more about this.Once again sorry Istvan and thanks a lot for the information.
I'll get some stuff together and send it to your e-mail. We used to believe the spine had to always be in neutral when lifting, but since everyone has a different geometry this may not be the best position for maximum lifting. There were tests done showing muscle contraction, etc, and they showed zones of muscle deference.
i wonder if he sexually abused this kid

Hello
How many sets of this, and how long of a rest period between the sets?
I was thinking maybe 4 sets and 1-2 min rest for beginners, and as you improve, less and less rest time?
Thank you

Research shows that makes little difference to most athletes. I remember the old school practice of keeping in line, but that has all changed...
