I think my father would have been flattered with this cover. Having said that he was not a fan of rock music. Thanks for sharing as its a very different version of the song I sing most days when I am walking round the house.
@SeriousWalrus Your father? Do you mean... are you one of Alex' sons? Whoa! Thanks! Yes - I know Alex was not a fan of rock music, but I was hoping he would have been smiling at the effort.
Have you heard the song I wrote for/about him?
@Bummelz: I hadn't read your comment yet, thank you!
@Bietel yeah I am the younger son... my da always hated my music collection... unless I was playing folk or opera.... will have a listen to your tribute song later ... and thanks... not sure about my da but it raised a smile from me....
Just a little added note here. These recordings (there are more to find here) were made as demos, to play to the rest of the band, like "this is sort of what I have in mind".
I'm not a 'real' drummer, everything is first-take and the vocals were recorded sitting down behind a desk. So much for the romantic 'lonely artist in the attic'.
It was done with the greatest respect for Alex Campbell, his albums are some of the most played - along with Dead Moon, Pierced Arrows, and Gillian Welch.
