I just found the same one in my junk box! mine was made by DAK way back in the 80ies. It works great but I had to modify and move the antenna around! The way you tune it is sorta like wadley tuning. That means you first tune the radio then tune te tuner for best reception
FCC could care less about receive as long as it is not illegal whatever you are listening to scrambled, cell phones etc. . It is about transmit where they have an issue. Unless your rx amp is causing harmful interference to other users you are good to go. I really like this rx amp..
Are you saying that you can't have a antenna about 20 feet? I have never heard that before. The FCC allows antennas up to 200ft tall without any special permits. Anything over that must be certified with a red light on it for aircraft safety. If you are right next to a airport and then you might have an issue.

@tuberich60 Hello, I recently bought one as new on eBay US. It was 35 USD. I'll use this with my PL-660 outside the house. Thank you for your information.
Have you found connecting the audio wire from the from the laptop to the sony 2010 increases interference? Have you found a solution?

Looks just like the Realistic amplified shortwave antenna from Radio shack sold in the 80's.
