  • Why do you set the video size to 640x360 instead of 1280x720 (YouTube widescreen recommended size)? Does it make the file size smaller or something?

  • 640x360 is widescreen and HQ. 1280x720 is widescreen and HD

  • Which is better?

  • Well, I personally use HD because the resolution is higher, but everyone has their own preferences.

  • I did everthing the video asked me too but I was wondering why the audio sounds weird? Like it doesn't sound clear.

  • Simply might be the quality of the audio. If it's not the file itself and the rendering changed it, then go to the audio tab when you open up your render properties and fool around with the settings there

  • Thanx a lot for the tutorial! Better try it out ;D

  • Hey man, great tutorial. I followed exactly everything you did, but I have those vertical black lines. Should I use a different setting than 640 x 360?

  • Never mind. I made the same mistake as you XD

  • Thank you so so so much for this tutorial it helped a lot !

  • Glad I could help =)

  • ITs actually a waste to put the video quality to anything higher than 90%

For some reason if you put the quality to 100 percent, it renders it faster, but makes the file about 4 times bigger.

    DEFINITELY put quality to 90%

If you want proof go to my channel and look up Wanted weapons of fate parts 15 and 16. Part 15 is at 90% and part 16 is at 100% (also took an hour to upload : /)

  • Lol, yes someone already mentioned that.

  • i did it like in the vid, but my vids won´t show up in HQ... ?

  • Again, double check you've done everything and that you're rendering in a .wmv format. Also if it still isn't working, when you go to upload a video YouTube near the bottom click on "Best Formats for YouTube". There might be something in there =)

  • i checked everything, so it can´t be this...

i´ll try, maybe i find something there...

  • Thank You

  • You're welcome =)

  • I still Have Black Lines

    anyone helpp??

  • Double check the "Do not letterbox" box is checked. If it is, then go to event pan/crop and make sure that the video clips you are using don't have any black lines around it =) If they do, just zoom in.

  • is it ok to set to good and 90% quality, cuz personally I find the file size is smaller, and the quality turns out the same.

  • Oh, okay thank you ^^

  • thanks, had a problem with the letter box thing.

    ~DJ T

  • You need to make sure that on every clip you went to event pan/crop and did "Match Output Aspect". For EVERY clip, and that there is a check mark in the "Stretch video to fill output frame size (Do not letterbox)" check box.

  • When I do CBR it freezes at exactly 61% o_O

I tried three times and gave up =_='

  • it didn't work...ive tried three times...

  • Make sure you read the annotations added to the video and that the format is .wmv

  • okay i'll look

  • I love this video! Worked like magic for me!

  • Glad it worked ^^

  • You just can't just the "Upload To Web" and still have it worked, which sucks.

  • loved this tutorial but my vid showed up in HD ..

    Any help? xD

  • Hm, odd. Try double checking that width and height are 640x360 respectively. Also make sure full resolution rendering quality is set to Good. In rendering settings, go to the bit rate tab and make sure ISDN is checked.

  • I found my mistake xD

I renderd with the old HD template -headdesk-

    Thanks anyway!

  • Lol, okay ^^ Hope it works now =)

  • yes =D

  • Your smart! But when I pick Windows Media Video V9 (*.wmv), it renders the video, and then the video is just blank. O.o

  • whoa u r great!

  • Glad I could help!

  • oh and also, when rendering, once I save the template, will I have to go through all the clips and do the match output thing when i make another video? It's no problem if I will, just wondering.

  • Yes, you will, unfortunately. The template just sets the rendering settings.

  • wow thanks so much, this is working great. I'm going to upload the video now.

  • wow THX!!!!!

  • thanksies SO much, it worked PERFECT!!! :D

  • Glad it worked ^^

  • :D hehe

  • umm, when i tried to set the output the video zooms out. What do I do?

  • Hm, I dunno that's odd...could be the original resolution of the clip is higher than the resolution of your project.

  • It doesn't work :(. Why does it work for some people?

  • -sighs- I dunno..I'm starting to wonder if it has to do with codecs maybe....or maybe with the operating system, or version of Sony Vegas.

  • I have vista and sony vegas 8 pro.

    I dont't know about codescs

  • Honestly, I never tried using this method with Sony Vegas 8.0, I just used HD settings for it. Also make sure you give the video time to process on YouTube. It can take up to an hour for the high quality option to appear. Also do you have DivX?

  • How can i find out if i have DivX?

  • Oh wait, does the time matter?

  • No time doesn't matter, and just go to Computer-Local Disk (C:)-Program Files and if you have DivX there will be a folder in there.

  • No i don't. Do i need it?

  • Also this may sound stupid, but what is DivX and what is it used for?

  • It's used for playing video files, and there's a converter, and also there's a few codecs that come with it that allow you to play certain video files.

  • thanks

  • Does this work?

  • It seems to work for some people and sometimes it doesn't for others. I suggest making your videos available in HD now instead though.

  • I don't like HD. It takes long to render

  • True, but the quality end up better. Well I dunno, try this, and if it doesn't work maybe try what some of the comments have suggested...I'm still trying to figure out how to make EVERY video available...maybe YouTube just favors certain videos o.O

  • Yeah thanks anyways. Great video.

  • maybe this doesnt work for me since i didnt put audio in my video you think thats the problem?

  • No, audio wouldn't affect it, I'm pretty sure...did you try what quadcoreQ suggested for settings? If not try that, and if it doesn't work, maybe try making the videos HD instead...

  • ok i dont get it if i render my video at 640x360 how does it end up being a full screen?

And what if my original video was 1280x720?

what resolution do you recommend using to render from vegas?

  • Well I made this tutorial before the HD option appeared on YouTube, so I don't do what I did in this tutorial anymore. I use a 1280x720 resolution.

  • ok thanks! =)

  • THE WORLD IS MINE!

  • Ok the 'quality vbr' is finally processed and it also have the 'high quality' link.

Now i've compared the two video files on youtube and they looked exactly the same in terms of quality.

So now my best bet is to stick with 'CBR', because the file size is much more smaller than the 'Quality VBR'. And besides, if i want better quality i can just bump up the bitrate to around 2-3M.

so yeah, i've finally solve my dilemma : )

  • Sorry for all the confusion! Wish I could have helped more :(

  • When i said, "they looked exactly the same in terms of quality", I was actually right !

I used the program 'netmeter' to find out how much usage was being downloaded when streaming (i.e. watching) the 2 videos from youtube. And both files used up 6.52mb each to stream with the 'high quality' link.

In other words regardless of whether your video is 12mb or 44mb in size - youtube will still compress it to a certain size when streaming (which in this case is 6.52mb).

  • i'm currently in the process of uploading the same video file but in a different settings:

    1. quality vbr

    2. 30 frame rate

the only thing that makes this method stupid is that the file size is 44mb and the bitrate is 6.5M (just for a 1min clip, compared to 12mb as for the CBR)

i'll tell u the results later, when it's fully processed

  • ok, i've tested 1 video so far and YES i've got the "high quality" link !!!! : ) the settings are:

    1. cbr

    2. 30 frame rate

    3. internet bitrate 1.6M

it's a 1 min clip and the file size is 12mb

  • i had a vid 10 mins long and was freaking 388mb

  • if it's in cbr, then click on the 'Bit rate' tab, and in the 'internet' box, type in the output bitrate you want. You can choose between 1.5-3M, or whatever u want, but i'd recommend at least more than 1.5M. Just test the settings, upload the video to youtube and find out which one is good for u.

  • What are you settings in audio?

  • Comment removed

  • audio is default of course. Anyway i'll be testing the "Quality VBR" at 30.000 tonight, using a video file, instead of pictures.

btw I'd reckon having the frame rate at 29.970 wouldn't make a difference.

  • ok now im sure ok it stays quality vbr but the frame rate is 30.000 not 29.970

  • Comment removed

  • wait maybe its quality vbr i forgot what i saved the vid in again.. but all i remember it has 30.000 fps

  • nvm i tested and its cbr so use that =D

  • Thanks for helping me out! I'll amend the video now XD

  • Wait in the video whats the bit rate for the internet etc.?

  • In the rendering options? I use 5M

  • Sorry, I have everything unchecked except for Internet/LAN and I put 5 M

  • all i know is it doesnt matter for the bit rate i got the hq and i used 8

  • prob gonna do that

  • So what's the solution??? cbr or quality vbr ? 8 bit or 32 bit ?

    thanx

  • finally worked but i forgot if i saved in cbr or quality vbr

  • Well maybe try a video with each and see which comes in high quality? :)

  • ill try 32 and hope i will get the high quality thing

  • no when i go on properties it gives me 2 options 8 nit or 32 bit which should i pick?

  • Ohhh.....I see what you mean. It doesn't matter which one, I don't think. I always use 8 bit.

  • In sony vegas when I go to properties i get a option that has what bit rate what should i put for this?

  • There isn't a bit rate option in properties, but there is one when you customize the rendering settings. Is this what you're talking about? If so, it doesn't matter what the bit rate is for high quality. I never changed it from it's defaults to get high quality. To get your video in HD then you change it. I posted a tutorial on how to get HD videos which will explain it better than if I type it here :P

  • yeah all mine are in .wmv format but i still can't get the HQ link. Anyways i'll wait till u find a solution : )

  • Okay, thank you :)

  • Ok I MIGHT have figured it out...I'm not sure :P Where it says to change the mode to Quality VBR, change it to CBR instead. Not sure if it'll make a difference but it's worth a shot :P

  • I did exactly what u said, including changing everything to high quality. I've got widescreen but i can't get the high quality link.... Even though the quality is still good, I need that link because the quality is much better than what i have now

  • Hm, lots of people are having this problem...I'm still trying to figure out how to solve this. I'm guessing maybe video format might have an effect, as well the size of the file. Maybe try saving in .wmv for now, and if that doesn't work, please let me know. I'll let you know if I can find a solution.

  • It should, it does for me.

  • OMG I just made a new intro and I tried this and it WORKS! Thank you so much for uploading! before I saw this I tried other tutorials but those didn't work.

  • You're welcome :D Glad it helped ^^

  • Try double checking that all of the quality options (in Properties and the rendering options) are set to Best/100. Also try saving the video in .wmv format.

  • thanks, I'll try it on my next video=)

  • Hope it works ^^

  • thanks

  • You're welcome ^^

  • Thank You so much, I have been trying to figure it out for like weeks :D

  • Glad I could help :)

  • thanks for the vid it really help : )

  • Welcome, glad I could help ^^

  • LOL, if I had Sony Vegas, this would be a great tutorial for me.

However, I use WMM. I did, however, figure out how to put those clips in HD.

How were you able to make a video of you doing this?

  • I used Any Screen Recorder...I think..I dunno something like that :P Just google "screen recorder" and you can find something probably. Sorry wish I could remember!

  • Thanks! I don't know why I didn't Google it before.

I got something, so now it's all good. Thanks again!

  • This isnt working for me... theres no "High Quality" Option :(

  • Are These Settings Good For Gaming With Alot Of Movement?

  • thnks so much i needed hq instead of hd hd is too lagy :(

  • this is a helpful tutorial and the music is awesome

  • Can you change the title so that everyone can notice this video?

  • I LOVE YOU SIIIS!!! <3<3<3<3

  • Haha, love you too sis!! *huggles* :P

  • I tried it really but my video format is NTSC DV and I tried everything else but I can't change to vbr and stuff =3

  • No problem :) You don't need to change it to VBR, it just makes the quality of the rendered video better ^^

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!I REALLY NEEDED THIS! ^o^

  • thanks sooo much for this :]

    I needed it ahha.

  • ooooh great!!!thanks!!!! =3

  • Thanks :D Really usefull :D
