Interesting that lot's of peeps say Yngwie invented the neo-classical style... Nobody ever heard of Randy Rhoades, or of Yngwie's main influence Ritchie Blackmore... He did not invent the style... but he did popularize it...
@Tnuk3 Yngwie sounds nothing like Randy Rhoads (not Rhoades). In addition, there exists yngwies demos from like 1978 (when he was 15) where he already has his style honed to the T.
@pegasuslover97 and Chris's is not?! He sounds like a fucking parrot playing guitar, just repeating the same stuff over and over whether it fits the song or not (most often it doesn't).
@pegasuslover97 - Everyone has their favourites and it's great, nothing wrong with that but from a technique/musicianship point of view nobody playing an instrument themselves would even consider Chris better than Yngwie, but with that said "betterness" is a relative subject. If you enjoy his playing or music more, that's perfectly fine. That makes him better in a subjective way.
Sad thing is Chris DOES NOT acknowledge the influence of Yngwie! Ask him influences he says Blackmore, etc. PATHETIC! He is 3rd rate Yngwie clone that can play fast thats about it - even his speed his action is touching frets Yngwies is 6mm big difference! Yngwies fastest pieces, Chris could NOT play faster than Yngwie. Chris's vibrato is awful compared to Yngwie's. Chris became infamous with the bottom burp incident at concert, mic was still on and he let one rip & audience heard it!
@raswakeup You're so right. What is it about Yngwie that no player has the balls to acknowledge him as an influence? Especially since Chris's stuff is so very similar to Yngwies, and Yngwie did it first. There's also a lot of newer bands that have a lot of neo-classical influences in their music, yet none of them acknowledge Yngwie as an influence.
Saying Impellitary is better than Yngwie is like saying Helloween are better than Iron Maiden....Maiden invented that style....Yngwie invented this style!!! And he plays it better and with more conviction....
@sebastal yeah? it also sounds way worse. it's always about speed and technique, isn't it? it's clear to every guitar player that has ears that yngwie's stuff has more substance to it.
@Moh1Z Just cause Impelliteri has as much funds to record as a public school for a library...he can riff, he can write melodies and he can play cleaner and faser live...aka. He's better, and that dosen't take away nothing from Yngwie you know it, I know it, and Yngwie is pure technique and a horrible songwriter
@sebastal I actually find that Yngwie has more of a rock'n'roll touch. He doesn't sound like a machine. Impellitteri's solos sound out of context most of the time and his songs are generic 80s metal. Yngwie's songs are more creative and his style is more original. Heck, he invented the whole neo-classical shredding thing. Let's agree to disagree :)

It's simple truth mate it's not up to opinion is a fact...if you haven't played Chris's solo's and matched them against Malmsteen's you'll never see how he's better...Yngwie does make longer solos but he just can't keep up with Chris's amazing speed and Chris can't keep up with Batio
