  • Best video I've seen on how to load , unload and the use of the safety lever of a Mauser. Thanks for that information.

  • im looking for a rifle and im ookign at these old bolt guns because there very nice looking and are overall great just love them , how much do they cost, and what is the recoil like? and price of ammo?

  • Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the bore change from .318 to .323 because the Germans switched from the M/88 to the Spitzer rounds?

  • I want anybody watching this video to know that I plan on redoing this video in HD and with more example in a future video.

  • can you put a german bayonet on a spanish mauser and use german stripper clips/slings etc.

  • nice stolen property of former Yugoslavia. This just shows publicly USA as criminals as they are. I dont blame people but government. God will judge, and it will be very soon

  • @88Matija hey bud, these rifles aren't stolen the yugoslavians surplused out their mausers, they wanted them gone and we took 'em for them, same with Mosin-Nagant rifles etc. while i agree the US does tend to do some rather shady things (a whole heap i don't want to dabble into), at least do your home work before you throw accustations out, because no offense it makes you sound like a bit of a jerk. Also if you don't like 'em don't buy 'em.

  • @88Matija When were they stolen? Sounds like another piece of ommitted history...

  • goes the Mauser 308 handle a 7.62x51? Especially the Spanish Model 1916 arsenal conversion to 308

  • why does my k98k have half a bolt ball?

  • @148scalemodeling is the underside all crosshatched?

  • @TehChocco yes

  • what type of mauser would have a .318 bore?

  • Great video! I just picked up a turkish mauser k kale with German ww1 parts. I'm thinking about converting it into a true blue ww1 Gewehr 98 rifle since the turkish mauser is almost exactly indentical to the Gewehr 98. How hard is it to remove the rear sight base on these old mausers?

  • I found these videos very helpful thankyou

  • what do you think of the Yugo Mauser M-48BO the without markings variant

  • Great video. Picking up my Model 1935 Brazilian Mauser tomorrow. I can't wait to shoot it.

  • awesome, I have a mod. 98 that used to belong to my grandpa, I really should get around to buying to ammo and having some fun... Thanks for the video(s), Very Awesome...

  • @mattb807

Maybe it's "where it's at" for a 13 year old, cause you're too young to trust with anything deadlier than plastic balls. Hell for the price of some of those toys, you can buy a decent, REAL firearm. But that's okay, you stick to airsoft, I'll feel safer at the range with my AR :)

  • good gun Iike

  • And they make very good hunting rifles

  • Pretty good. You are one of the rare individuals that seem to know what you're talking about. Like the part where you explain the .318 and .323 spitzer difference. Most do not know this. Good video

  • Hi from Australia. This is a good introduction to the K98 rifle. I've got a K98, byf 43 model in .308 (re-barrelled after the WW2 by the USA and given to the Norwegian Armed Forces) on order and can't wait to shoot it at the range.

  • Real guns suck its all

    About airsoft

  • @mattb807 wtf

  • @mattb807 Yeah, let's take out the Taliban by hitting them with some plastic balls. When you turn 18 you'll realize real guns are more fun.

  • will leaving the clip in and bolting it up wear out the clip indent ?

  • Gotta love the mauser action :)

  • Anything you can tell me about Turkish Mausers? I bought one a couple days ago, but haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but I've heard some stuff about some of them not being able to shoot 8mm ammo.

  • Which do you think has a better action, the M1903 or the K98K?

  • @TaZ101SAGA Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought they were the same action...

  • @martywatkins Sorry, mean't to say M1917 and K98K

  • how do you remove the sight hood on an M48? I would really like to knw how.

  • really enjoyed both of these videos, thanks

  • where can you get stripper clips for a Mosin? i know this video isn't a mosin video, but you talked about it, and i can't find any :/ thanks!

  • Hey, I saw you are from georgia. I've looked and I can't really find any ranges that have more than 50-75 yard distance. Do you know of any good ranges?

  • nice video.(and i clicked your ads :) )

some questions i still have: is it possible to chamber a bullet and uncock the action afterwards, leaving the round chambered, and can you cock it again then, or do you have to remove the bullet and pull the trigger ?

  • I wish I had a Kar98k, instead of this damn Brazillian one, not a bad gun, but still not the K98.

  • what a utilitarian firearm. my buddy had a k98 with a strait bolt, i liked it and wanted it, twas a very prestine rifle

  • what a utilitarian firearm

  • I have never seen a fully bent bolt gun before...the recess in the stock is neat

  • hey i might get a 98 how do i know if its a .318 or a .323 all i see for sale is 8mm ammo

  • The 2 ways you can load the rifle ( when being safe an when being unsafe) Pointless a bit, but I enjoyed the whole video pretty mutch ;)

  • Nice info though man, for a greenhorn like me all info is appreciated ;)

  • Thanks for the video...Never knew I could convert brass!!! Now I'm going to pull bullet heads from all that corrosive berdan primed and now reload in converted cases..

  • buzi

  • mausers are awsome

  • Missing1person ... suck a dill pickle you 12 year old urbanite idiot ... yo momma calls sweet thang ;)

  • Good video, I own a decent 1919 6.5 ... but I think I'll pick up a later model too.

  • Excellent review mate, just got my hands on a Bnz 43 so I found it very informative. Any ideas where I can find any surplace ammo in Australia??

  • where can i buy ww2 rifles??????i am from greece and i am searching for a mauser karabiner model 98 kurz for about a year and i can't find one.....any suggestions????

  • Hi man! Really nice review about 98k. I have a question about matching serial numbers on gun parts. Many of them (98k's) have different numbers on their parts as they were russian cuptured etc. So, if the gun has a bolt from another gun (with a different serial #), is it dangerous to shoot with? I've heard many things about this...

  • im planning to get a mauser but not sure what kind of bayonet to get theres so many

    can you help me out

  • idk if you all mite of heard of this but ther is a very rare varient of the mauser. its an 11mm rifle. my grandfather has one. never been shot. but ive not been successful in finding information on that perticular mauser variant.

  • Dont remember if it was in part 1 or part 2 but "Now we're ready to kill stuff" made my day :D

  • You gave good advice regarding using proper diameter bullets, You didn't mention how the trigger pull was, or how to use stripper clips.

  • What dates and models should I look for when it comes to historical significance?

  • Are Mauser re-chambered in .308 any good?

  • What is the M96 in 6.5x55 like? Are these accurate?

  • I was watching this and notice I some was missing some parts for mine like the hood and capture screw, and what is that a pin or a rod were the bayonet goes

  • I think that the mosin plate is better. but the stripper clip idea is good.

  • does anybody no when the 757 7mm mauser was made i have one but there are no date or nothen on any part of the rifle

  • @missing1person At least I use proper grammer. Go dig a ditch somewhere you moron.

  • @Iraqveteran8888

    it's "grammar", not grammer.

  • @Iraqveteran8888 I think it's called proper grammar. Haha, just kidding. Great series on the mauser !

  • @doyawntsom I didn't say anything in my comment about formal education. You really don't know me, because honestly dude, most of the college grads I know are complete idiots and have no common sense at all. Some of the most useful and productive member of society that I know have very minimal education. I mean....really dude? Just because someone has never been to college doesn't mean they can't pick up a book and learn something, right?

  • @Iraqveteran8888

I like you man. You're not a fucking idiot. Great video by the way.

  • @doyawntsom dick face!

  • @doyawntsom your ramble makes absolutely no sense

  • @doyawntsom are you retarded schizophrenic?

  • Where can I get a cleaning rod for an M48?

  • @TheSouthernGentleman Try Numrich Gun Parts

  • @Iraqveteran8888 Don't have the facilities to find out myself, bit of a stab in the dark that question! As are the chances of u having some. Can but ask. Keep up good work with ur vids anyway cheers

  • my saftey is jammed but it's been assembled properly, (the gun works perfectly accept for my saftey) any ideas or solutions would be appreciated

    thanks!

  • i have a mauser yugo m48 too but it has no crest and no markings why is that? and what is better the kar98k or the m48?

  • Where can you get cheap 30-06 ammo?

  • i have 8 mausers and love em,great video.

  • I might have the chance to trade a Smith and wesson model 64-3 for a gewehr 88 do you think I should jump on it given the chance?

  • Thanks for the nice review!! - where did you get your rifles? :) i really really want one cause the K98k is such a cool rifle and its history is also very interesting i think :P

    Thanks in advance!

  • man - i really want a K98k rifle i think they are soo cool and amazing + their history is really interesting - where did you get yours rifles

    Thanks in advance :)

    btw: 5 *

  • @Caspertroffe the russian mosin is much better

  • @FrankieJames7 yes that is also a very good and nice rifle ;-)

the mosin and k98k is my favourite rifles :D<3

  • @Caspertroffe the mosin is my favorite becuase you could just tell it has history and was used in battle to kill fag nazis

  • @FrankieJames7

You do know Nazism is just an ideology right? Not everyone in the Wehrmacht was a Nazi.

  • @ChrisDawg432 yes i kno that, most germans didnt like hitler. but look what they did to the world in the 40's.and to find out which gun is better. ask hitler.

  • @FrankieJames7

Okay, wars aren't won by who had the better gun. Seriously, the fact that you implied that is hilarious. Either way, there was no way Nazi Germany could of won with the amount of people the Soviets had. Seriously, you haven't put up one argument about how the Mosin is better besides the fact that the Germans lost.

  • @ChrisDawg432 yes wars can be won by the better gun. look at the veitnam war. just think if our troops had the ak47. and yes, the nazis could have one the war if hitler wasnt a crack head. bad planning. if he had pulled his troops from europe and invaded the soviet union and made it past stalingrad they would have taken over the world. to bad the russians had the mosin nagant bitch. the mosin is better like it or not

  • @FrankieJames7

Your ignorance is blinding. Lets put into terms even people like you can understand. Guns kill people right? Our troops were armed with the M16 which you are implying is not as good as the AK-47. Than explain to me how U.S casualties were around 58,000 while the Vietnam and NLF casualties were over a million. And lets think for a moment, if the Nazis pulled his troops from Europe he would be exposing the entire western part of Germany. How fucking retarded can you get?

  • @ChrisDawg432 even if germany was over wehelmmed they would have russia and the rest of asia. all that land and people to keep as slaves. if germany made it past staligrad russia would fall, to have all those slaves to make mausers and mp40s to retake europe bitch, the mosin nagant is better retard, fucking crack head

  • @FrankieJames7

AHAHAHAHA! You still haven't even posted why it's better! And you think they could have taken over all of Asia? Okay smart guy, how are they going to support their troops and those millions of slaves? Germany's resources were already strained, and I'm pretty sure the Japanese would have a problem with that, dumbass. Seriously, don't even reply, save yourself some dignity. Seriously, with Russia's numbers and Germany's production system, they couldn't have done it. Just stop.

  • @ChrisDawg432 you must be on drugs crack addict, whats wrong with you, you have been dropped on your head, hitler invaded the soviet union for a reason, all those factories working for the nazi war machine. your an idiot. dont even reply to this because you kno your wrong, stop lying to your self

  • @FrankieJames7

Ahahaha listen to yourself bro. I'm not going to continue with this conversation, seriously, its just too much trouble trying to talk to people as low as you. You're seriously one of the most ignorant retards I have ever come across on the entire internet. Seriously, congratulations.

  • @ChrisDawg432 your a crack addict ma, go hail hitler you german nazi dog

  • @FrankieJames7

Aww, you seem upset. Oh well, maybe you'll settle down and pick up a book and learn something one day. Until then, have fun being ignorant :)

  • @FrankieJames7 Um....no it is not, yes the Soviets won the war but look at the casualties. Russians had the most in WWII. I have both, both are great but the K98 is just a better weapon, more accurate, more solid weapon.

  • @MrGazrp both guns can reach up to 1000 yards, so accuracy is not a problem, lets see what bolt is better, more people can cylce the mosins bolt faster then the mausers cause the mosins is more free flowing and easy to operate. but can go through abuse but the mosin can go through more. the mosin nagant is better

  • @MrGazrp

Don't try to even argue with this kid, just look at his previous comments. He'll just ignore your argument and use Ad Hominems to try to prove that he's right.

  • @ChrisDawg432 fuck your retarded man, he would have soviet oil and soivet workers stupid dumb fuck

  • Have you ever seen SP bullets melt? I'm very hesitant to use them anymore, I'm paranoid that the lead will melt (which it has before, but not in my Yugo M48). Once the lead re-solidifies it would be extremely difficult to get it out of the rifling or the receiver.

  • where can u get that yugo and roman ammo and wuts the cheapest ammo for this gun

  • @derekio137

The Romanian stuff is pretty hard to beat for the money, and most of it comes already loaded on stripper clips.

Check out Sportsman's Guide, Buy Ammo, AIM Surplus, and Samco Global Arms.

They all in some capacity, will have quantities of 8mm.

  • @Iraqveteran8888 fairly new to this. perhaps basic question for u, is it safe to use surplus brass for reloads? By the way appreciate u taking the time to make ur vids. Enjoy watching and learning from them. Next question perhaps not so basic, have surplus ammo 1956 with I'm presuming Yugo Cyrillic writing on boxes, markings of 2 stars ether side on base with the numbers 11 at top and 56 (yr I'm guessing on bottom). Ever shot these? if so do u know mussel velocity, shoulder wants to know.. :)

  • i got a real Kar98k Mauser kal.8mm, and a Mosin-Nagant whit a bajonett. i love the WW2 weapons, its got a real interesing history. I recomand to get some.

  • I could not agree more.

  • @Iraqveteran8888

You bastard got me thinkin about buying a Mauser now. Haha, thanks for the short but quality reviews.

  • you got to watch out for the Yugo mausers. After 1945 there was a arms sell from germany and yougoslavia bought alot of mauser but alterted them. THEY ARE NOT GERMAN MAUSERS!!!!! straight bolts.....not mausers unless it is just a straight 98 model.

  • I saw a Mauser at a sporting goods store for 220 dollars, I don't know which country it is from. It is about the same length as a 98k but it has a straight handle bolt. Do you know what it might be?

  • It is really hard to say without looking at it.

There were K98k with straight bolts, Gew 98s, etc.

Country of origin? (if it is import marked)

    Maker marks?

  • I actually went back to the store and looked at it, it was a german model 98 (the original) I guess it was a lot longer than I remembered. And it is in great shape, apparently it hasn't been fired hardly. I guess it was a closet gun. And for only 220 bucks I'm actually considering buying it now lol.

  • i have become a fan of these kind of rilfes coz of your videos. i was reading some coments and opinions and they say that the best of the mauser rifles is the swedish made one, the 6.5/55. what is your opinion about that?

  • The Swedish Mauser is hard to beat, yes, if you want a good shooting rifle.

The 6.5x55mm is a good flat cartridge with a good bit of punch.

Sadly, I don't own one yet, but it is on the list for sure.

Expect accuracy, fit, finish, and overall quality to parallel that of the Swiss rifles.

All in all, if you want a shooter and don't want to go broke, the Yugo Mausers are very nice rifles for the money.

  • For a 1916,straight bolt, Spandau, 8mm, is there an easy way to determine if its a 318 or a 323? Merry Christmas, Happy New Year! Thanks for the great vids!

  • You can slug the bore....thats the easiest way to tell.

That or you can take a standard .323 8mm Mauser round and gently press it into the muzzle. The muzzle should eat about 2/3 of the bullet or so.

If I had to guess, a .318 diameter bore would give itself away to that test right off the bat.

  • Can you do a video on the advantages and disadvantages of the straight, fully bent, and wide ark bolts?

  • I can do it, but it is going to be a long time until I can get ot it.

I have a bunch on my plate right now.

I can tell you that the fully bent bolts give the weapon a very cleanr profile and a bit better leverage.

With a straight bolt, you end up having to move your arm a little more to chamber rounds, but it is very usable.

  • i got a 1939(year) 1903 turkish mauser action chamberd for 8mm its probaley in 45-50% condition i have 55 bucks in it what would you think it would be worth?

  • Value really just depends on who you are selling it to. The Turkish Mauser actions probably aren't worth as much money as the rest of them, but they have their uses.

You could build a very usable sporter from it.

This is just me, but a Turkish receiver would not get more than $25 and that would be pristine condition.

Of course, it all depends on who is buying it, and what they intend to use it for.

Some people take those Turk rifles very seriously, and may be willing to pay more

  • I used the Romainian ammo you have. Half the stripper clips wouldn't feed in to the rifle so i just took them off

  • Hey nice video..... how much more/less power does the 8mm mauser cartridge have compared to a 30-06.... and can you easily mount optics on the rifle?

  • The 8mm and .30-06 are pretty similar, but I would say that the .30-06 is more powerful out to longer ranges....although the 8mm has a lot of stomp at 100-200 yards. The case capacity on .30-06 lends itself to be loaded pretty dang hot...the 8mm...not so much....but still damn powerful.

Optics can be mounted either by a scout optic mount or a drill and tap scope base.

  • what is an average price that these go for? and which do you reccomend personally? the mosin nagant or kar89k? also consider ammo cost

  • I get this question quite a bit, so I have decided to make a video addressing it ASAP.

Bear with me, it will be about a month before I can do it. Subscribe if you havent.

In short, the Mosin is going to be a good choice in terms of up front investment and overall ammo costs...

  • I just bought a mauser argentine 1891 for a hundred bucks, Do you think I got a good deal?

  • Ummm....Let me think...Hell yeah!

  • hello,,i just got a mauser vz24,,can you give me an advise of how to take down the wood stock,so i can work on finish work,,is so thight th front part, and no idea how to take it out, any help...

  • For the butt plate you'll just use a flat head screw driver that completely fills up the slot head.

For the cross bolt, you will need a croos bolt removal tool or you can make one on a bench griner with an old flat head screwdriver. Just look at the size of the two little holes and you are good.

For the nose cap, there will likely be a small pin that you will need to punch out or a small screw to loosen. I do no have one in front of me to be sure.

  • your videos are truly great i have watched a great many of them and have been impressed so far. I have a question. I am have a vz 24 and would just like to know if it will shoot that 1950's 8mm ammo? Does that ammo give people problems? How can i fix these problems if there are problems?

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for the support.

The Yugo surplus 50's ammo has pretty tough primer cups. Sometimes, you have to replace your spring with a Wolf one that provides a slightly heavier strike on the cartridge.

Some people go through the trouble, but to me, it is a waste of time when the Romanian Spam can are so common and cheap.

  • i found this gun for 400 dollars. should i get it?

  • Eh...it would have to be a rarer code or early year for me to pay that for it.

It all depends. If it pulls at your heart strings...buy it.

  • is yours a model 98K or just a model 98

  • k98k

  • Are the serial numbers on your K98 even btw? Nice vid, good quality and talking!

  • Even as in matching? If so, Yes all the numbers match.

  • Excellent video, Excellent presentation. I just learned alot about my antique Kar 98. Thank you so much. RH DSD

  • Someone could have milled down the floor plate so it would not hold open after the last round is fired.

This is uncommen, but the older these rifles get, the higher the chance that bubba will get ahold of them.

  • Bonjour, I'm waiting for my permit for my Nagant. Many thanx for the superb vid's.

  • Thanks for the support. Any questions just ask.

  • Good vids and very informative.

  • Holy crap! You're still alive?

  • lol

  • good video found it really informative

  • Thanks...Hopefully these review type videos are going to get better in terms of quality. Looking to upgrade equipment pretty soon. Thanks for watching.

  • enjoyed the one about the mosin its actually my first rifle i would love to get a mauser

  • I'll be doing a video about the K31 as soon as me and Rugersix are done with the SKS series. Should be fun neither way...thats the beauty of it...

  • great video man. 5pts

  • Thanks dude.

  • Awesome review. i love the K98k. too bad it brings too much pain and destruction along.

Personally i'm still much more of a Garand fan.

  • I modified the follower on my swedish mauser so that 90* angle doesn't stop the bolt... not needed on a hunting rifle. Just as simple as filing it down. You basically covered everything pretty good, but on the safety. There's 3 positions, fire, middle, and full safe. The middle safety position like you said is for safely unloading, and also for disassembly of the bolt. Awesome vid series man!

  • I covered the safety...5:08

I've seen Mauser modified as you mention. Serves it's purpose I suppose. I'd rather not modify mine, unless I built a sporter from the ground up.

  • Understood. I just did it because it can be a pain in the six in the field hunting. I almost bought a russian capture k98 the other day, 1940 240 code but there was so much cosmoline on it and in the bore I couldn't even see the condition of the bore so I passed. He did have a bunch of mosins or 106... I should have bought one. lol

  • When I go shopping for a new rifle, I like to take a cleaning rod and some basic cleaning supplies, as well as any headspaces gauges for whatever rifle I'm shopping for.

Many times, the gun store owners won't care if you swab the bore real quick. You'd be surprised how clean those bores are under all that cosmo.

    I love cosmo btw...LOL

  • Overall a very good and informative review. I enjoyed watching both videos!

  • Thanks for watching and thanks for the support. Glad you liked them. More to come.

  • There's something about the Mauser that I love...If I had to pick between any gun of WWII, It'd be the Mauser.

  • I agree...They are certainly classic firearms and very timeless!

  • sorry i meant to put "fast" after really in the comment below

  • if you can fire the mosin nagant really, I bet you could shoot the kar98k even faster. I know you did that one rapid fire video on it bet it was only like 10 seconds long. It would be cool if you did a sequence with kar like you did with the mosin. Of course, you don't have to if you don't want to, I'm just saying

  • You just may get your wish...Thanks for the support and ideas.

  • I'm still looking for a good, not russian rebuild, K98K.

    (And there costly over here....)

  • I hear you there...I love the k98k!

  • 2nd k98 looks liek one of mine, good vid mate !

  • Thank you sir...
