  • Hi Rob - great demos with the Pro Junior. I've never heard of a Naylor 1040. How does it compare with other speakers in the Pro Jr? Would you recommend any other similarly-voiced speakers to achieve your balanced sound?

  • GUYS ! Hey ! What should i buy a class 5 combo or a Fender pro iii. I play everything : Black label society (metal) to jimi hendrix and other blues songs. I dont think the class 5 its good to metal but if you buy a high gain pedal like a mxr fulborre metal pedal it should play metal? And is it better with a head and cabinet or is it the same sound ? Sorry for my bad english and thank you if you reply :)

  • this is just amazing the sound is so awesome ..but thats mainly because of your super playing..its the style i like the most :D

  • what is the speaker? thanks...

  • I find it amusing how the google ad that showed up on this video was another great thing to come out of scandinavia...IKEA!!

  • what would you think about, playing through this, and a class 5 at the same time, ive always had that idea, seeing you have both amps, have you ever tried it out?

  • Nice. I've had this amp for years it is LOUD as hell.

  • I had a Pro Junior for a few years. I loved that amp - but there was always this spring like buzzing going on. The sound would come out the speaker and the “spring-like” sound would get louder & worse as I turned up the amp. It drove me nuts! I always figured it was the springs holding the tubes in. I’m pretty sure that’s what it was actually. Anyway, it seems that this issue wasn’t all that common - because I haven’t run into any other Pro Juniors in stores that have had the same problem.

  • @dec151974 Newer ones supposedly the buzz is gone.

  • @dec151974 Were you playing a Strat with springs for the tremolo? That would explain the "spring-like sound".

  • What type of strat is that?

  • @stretch90 Suhr Classic

  • I love your suhr guitar I adore it

  • Hey, please, I need some help.

When I bought this amp it sounds awesome even at 9 o'clock volume but now the volume is working in other way, now doesn't crank the tubes but increase the volume as hell, really too loud, like a huge amp, and the tubes crank is gone. Also when I play low notes it sound like ringin, glassy (or something like that) vibration.. How can I fix this problem?

  • @Elguru I would recommend you get new tubes for the amp.

  • @rotren new Pre-amp tubes or Power tubes? and thanks for the answer.

  • @Elguru Start with the power tubes, and change the preamp tubes too if that doesn't help. My tubes are really bad in mine - I'm gonna change all of them.

  • @rotren Ok, I'm taking the advice.. thanks a lot, nobody gave me and answer about this problem before.

  • @rotren Hello again. I just changed all the tubes and just one problem was fixed, the ringing or glassy sound, but it still tooooooooo loud, is impossible to get some tube overdrive without losing my ears while I'm trying.. what else could be the problem? Thanks for the help.

  • great guitar, great amp, and great player.

  • is this tube amp louder (in volume) than a 30 watt non-tube amp???

  • Great playing, great tone, great video! How much do you crank the Pro Junior? Because you have a little breakup that's really sweet, but since it's a one-volume amp, you probably only get it when you turn it up quite a lot, no? I'm looking into buying a pro junior, but mainly for at home, so I can't turn it up too much. Do you still get good tone at low volume?

  • @svyatagor I crank it up half way or slightly more. I find you can not get the same tone at really low volume. This amp is made to work a bit, which means it's quite loud.

  • i have naylor in my blues devill 212 love em

  • Hey robert, I wanted to get a smaller tube amp that would be good for practice and for small gigs, maybe even with a mic.

Could this do small gigs with a mic?

  • @nimatron2000 Yes, absolutely.

  • @nimatron2000 id go with this, the blues jr, or the vox ac15 for a small gigging amp, their all fantastic!! this one is the cheapest though

  • Hej Robert - härligt sound! Vad har du för rör i din Pro Junior? Hälsningar från Stockholm - Jonas

  • @JonasSweden1 Sovtek.

  • sorry meant to send that holy grail message to taurus

  • that fretboard is so dark it looks like ebony.

  • What do you start playing at 1:35?!

  • @MrUnseenBucket Some Pride and Joy inspired rhythm I just made up.

  • Enjoyed listening to your style of playing

    Nice phrasing indeed.

That's one nice thing about YouTube

    Lots of talent

    Keep bringing it

  • Sweet tone!! I know this was a demo of the amp, but I'm thinking that guitar and its pickups have a lot to do with it (not to mention the player).

  • I agree...Great Demo. I just picked one up myself. Unfortunately I didn't realize that it didn't have reverb. Any suggestions on a good reverb pedal...I'm thinking of maybe an electro harmonix cathedral.

  • @taurus1269 The blueSky Reverberator is fantastic. By Strymon.

  • @rotren You might check out the Holy Grails. They're pretty sick

  • I suggest you Electro Harmonix Holy Grail. Great sound and low price.

  • @taurus1269 try out the Holy Grails for reverb.

  • BTW - I hope it is not a blasphemy, but your Suhr rings as sweet as the bells of Blessed Virgin Mary Church.

  • Thats what i call a great demo. Thanks man.

Partly because of this demo i decided to buy this little nice amp because it sounds sweet, especially with your ultra cool guitar. Also, im kinda tired of carrying around a twin reverb... Cheers.

  • I love this amp...its 8 ohms, so I run it thru a Johnson 4x12 with celestions with my band, and play it with the stock speaker at home. I dont cut it up past 2, even with the band! You cant get bassy loud cleans with such a small amp, but you get really sweet warm overdrives at reasonable volume.

  • that's the perfect tone!

  • Great demo and fantastic guitar playing. After viewing your Marshall Class 5 and this video, I like the sound of the Fender Pro Jr better. It has that sweet warm tone.

  • Great demo of the amp. Excellent playing. Now I'm watching your video for the playing! I can't wait until my Pro JR. arrives! Take care,

    Tom

  • Top man!

  • Your tone is unreal 8P

I own a 2002 Tyler Psychedelic Vomit with Suhr singles but i'd love to try this guitar some day :)

Great vids you have,Thanks for posting 'em.

    Peace from Paris.

  • Hi Robert, nice vid & great sounds as usual - thanks. I have a request - please do a vid of the amazing entry-level MFX Digitech RP155 through an FRFR rig ( e.g. direct to a PA or active speaker.

I would love to hear your insights on the sounds/dynamics/playablilty of such basic rig (99$), because you have such great experience of using many desirable all-tube amps that most of us can only dream of.

I really dug your CoolCat demos, the humbleness seemed to inspire you - maybe this would too?

  • awesome playing! very john mayer-ish. im impressed!

  • Great Videos Robert. I was wondering what kind of set up you use to record all this stuff. The sound and video quality is really good.

  • @jjerszy This time, only the camcorder's microphone. I usually use an SM57, an Apogee Duet interface and my Mac, using Logic.

  • I see no Mike in front of the speaker. How did you record the sound of the amp?

    Sounds great btw!

  • robert, sell the class 5. it's a no brainer. im sure you agree.

  • @melonheed3 Well, you know, they are both great amps. Very different when you turn them up, but I do like the Class5 a lot too.

  • great feel man I really like your playing, both guitar & amp sound great!!!

  • The disadvantage is, that it has no reverb.

  • @sleepy4x No problem at all - I have a Line 6 M9, which has great reverbs.

  • @rotren

I blieve, that it works great for you with the line6 m9. But I would like to have such little tube amp to keep it simple and play without using a digital effect unit. Maybe only with a more uncomplicated affordable analog stompbox. (Can you recommend one?)

  • Comment removed

  • @rotren Of course, i use a TC nova reverb with my junior and it is great as long as you run the amp pretty clean - like in the video. If you want to crank it the reverb sounds like garbage cause the amp has no loop. But i totally love my Junior! Best what you can buy for the money, especially if you can get an early, USA made one.

  • @sleepy4x reverb pedal :)

  • @sleepy4x

this amp does not need reverb!

  • @aleale9756

    but maybe the player... :-)

  • @sleepy4x Play in a bigger room.

  • @sleepy4x No reverb needed. Reverb is overrated anyway - or get a Hermida.

  • such sweet licks

    can't wait to crack them!

  • @freesalute These licks are copyrighted. If you try to crack them, a team of BIG Scandinavian guys will come knocking on your door. They will force you to practice the pentatonic scale until your fingers bleed. :)

  • @rotren hahaha! so thats how you got it down so well :)

have to say my fave video is your cool cat tremolo chord progressions, really good

thanks for being such an inspiration rob

  • Robert I would love to see you play through the Vox AC4TV combo. I think you would be suprised how good it sounds compared to this and the Marshall for the money..

  • this is way better than the class 5 or those Line6 crappy digitals :o)

  • I like how the amp looks 'old school'. My Line 6 looks like an airplane comtrol panel

  • Robert, I also have an original USA made Pro Jr. as well as a number of the newer ones (not that good). I usually change the caps, transformers and speaker and they are great gigging amps for blues to classic rock. Ofcourse they work the best with a tele or strat. Nice demo. Plug it in to an eight ohm cabinet with a larger speaker and it is amazing.

  • Those amps are REALLY GOOD!

  • the marshall 5 was not very good. this amp on the other hand rocks. awesome.

  • Hey Robert, I have one. Mine has an Eminence Rajin Cajun in it. I can't let it go! I have several other great amps, but I will keep my Pro Jr!

  • bout 1/2 decent amp
