  • was this a PvP war?

  • Eve online, the closest you ever want to get to real war.

  • I enjoyed watching this but your choice of music sort of fucked it.

  • Rememberd this was, I was part of NORAD at the time, joined somewhat late in the war but still was fun ass hell flying around in kestrel with cruise torps.

  • is this really how shit goes down in this game?

  • @roycesboy Shit like this happens on almost a weekly basis when it comes to the huge coalitions

  • WHY EVANESCENCE?!?!? WHY?!?!?!?

  • how many people actually participated in that war?

  • @tipttt Alot, several corporations of a few hundred each, i think

  • How I miss playing eve.

  • Was gunna thumbs this up then that evenescence shit came on yet another computer game vid and I borked.

  • @MatsudairaTakuma The Evanescence is only on for a small part of it.

    Chill out.

  • lol hear this, my corporation was loyal to the PA for 2 days, making sure we had enough money and ships, then we rolled to the Coalition forces and whooped at least 4 huge Curse and PA fleets :P

  • sigh evanesence ... i've heard that song on every other youtube video overplayed to death

  • LONG LIVE THE NORTH

  • @WhiplashTrickSmash hey dumb ass this video was recorded a long ass time ago and for people like me who have played this game for years remember the game looked like that on highest settings. the only insult to eve is your idiot post.

  • what kind of client are you using, your USer interface looks retarded

  • @SargentandGreenLeaf that interface is b4 CCp improved it...

  • this made me want this game even more, but at the same time made me relise how much of a no life you have to be to be good at it.

  • What I regret about this most is, I was not there. I started playing 03.07.2005. Even when I started out, getting 30 enemy battleships killed was a major feat, however the inclusion of capital-class ships like Carriers and Dreadnoughts were on the rise at this time. Back then, individual skill matered much more even in alliances, these days, battleships are easier to get and ofthen support for capitals, not THE ship-of-the-line vessels. For mid-grade fights one have to look at corp-VS-corp wars.

  • Lightspeed is a Weapon...

  • I like how dramatic its makes it About a game "The death tool rises" "No one is safe from war" Come on its a game. i would be like Yeah im going to sleep

  • the great game of EvE, no other game has politics in it that i know of,

  • @i9ghozt9o the browser based nation simulator, Cybernations, has quite a bit of politics but not like EVE.

  • so all the allinces in the vid dont exest any more ??? if thay dont why dont thay

  • @NATHANBARLOWXD Many of them still exist except under new names.

  • @NATHANBARLOWXD To start with, in those times, alliances were player created and out of game agreements. Not the alliances as you see in game now. It is more like the coalition level (informal agreements between alliances) today. Prominent in the video are the founding corps of BoB (now IT) alliance. Of the listed corps, many have gone, but many are still around. Also, there were several other phoenix alliances after the original and they were not the same entity.

  • @TheJascal so some broke up aswell into new allinces ow and i heard of IT thay were at war with goon 1s

  • I wish another war like this would happen...but ever since the second war, people have sort of kept to there areas, with skirmishes breaking out in small places but nothing big.. sort of like the North/South Korea situation

  • It's funny how this far back set the political tone for the First Great War of eve (which some called the second) you know RedSwarm Federation vs the Greater Bob Community.

Arguably it ended with the disbanding of BoB, but some call that the beginning of the second great war - so far with notable campaigns of the invasion of fountain, the missed bill payment of the goons, the invasion of geminate, the Northern invasion last April, and recently the collapse of Atlas and AAA.

  • Man, so EVE online is like a barfight in congress in space. daaaaayum

  • you will have climbed the mount everest 5 times sooner then learning EVE

  • are akk the people declaring war real people? im confused. and the quotes sound like forum posts...sorry if i sound stupid.

  • @liidan15

    @liidan15

Yep, it was player alliances in the game that fought each other.

Happened 6 years ago, none of the alliances remain today. At least as they were in the Great Northern War.

I'm a player of EvE for the past year if you were wondering. The quotes probably are from the forums, the role playing ones.

  • @liidan15 ya all these are real people forming alliance in a game and fought like dos so is like a 1st player made world war 1 in an MMO aren't like stupid WoW which I quit a month ago it isn't full of developer's fantasy which you can never and change they will not be any great war of sorts only stories.notice how most ppl play WoW for 2 years the most and they stop[ cause is repetitive whereas you stil can find ppl playing like it's their new toy for 7 years and still have so much more 2 lrn

  • Comment removed

  • nice vid, but i really wish you would cut that stupid evanesence song out of it ... its so overplayed on so many videos -_- ... and doesn't fit with the theme of the video

  • looks like a history class video from school lol

  • Is this the whole movie? Where is the final chapter and return to peace?

  • Unforgettable, and Priceless video!

  • any new wars lately in eve?

  • @NathanSaga EVE has seen RELATIVE peace since the end of the "Great War" between BoB and Goonswarm. The biggest happenings as of late have been -A-'s conquest of Providence (evicting the Holders who'd controlled that region for years and years) and a failed expedition by the South into the Northern Coalition's home system. Bloody, but regional conflicts, far cry from previous ones. We're holding our breaths for the next "big one" though, it's inevitable :)

  • @Falcon988 Just started my second trial, buying soon... but I really want to see some EVE-changing events happen soon :D *noobtalk*

  • This seems like so long ago. Amazing times from a different age of the game long lost. - Raeff

  • O man i wish i was abell to go and do that shit im a apoc sniper but most of us are not needed as much any more

  • this brings back some very old and good memories. The goon's foreign legion, the rise and fall of the new venal alliance and the phoenix alliance rising from its ashes, the cult of Cthulhuu?, m0o, man, I sitll find myself wishing for those frigate battles, none of this "sit here and shoot you slugfest" crap of today.

  • god damn..cant believe eve used to look this shitty back than..!

  • @leonegamefreak You will say exactly the same in a cople years about EVE from now.

  • @WinchesterDelta1 well i dont think so since CCP has made it clear that graphic upgrades are in the agenda anymore but i really want them to fix the lag though..

  • @WinchesterDelta1 * are not in the agenda anymore

  • Man, this was a well made video, wish it were longer though.

  • what expansion is that UI from? from what i could make out, it looks like you can view only one slot group at a time...

  • buy a new computer lagggggg

  • Hows the song called at 1.25 ??

  • @Sietze14 Bring me to Life - Evanescence

  • whats*

  • Wake Me up Inside by Evanescence

  • So is this a war that actually happened in the because two alliances wanted to, or is it just a story line made up for thrills? I'm kinda confused.

  • It really happend, thats how it can become playing in Eve. then you are just chillin/chatting/doingwhatever..and the next thing you know you are in a big massive war. Thats Eve Online for ya. Still the greatest MMO i ever played. ( I was suprised back in da day of the grafity and the coolness of this game cause it was also my first mmo back then)

  • Watch the Eve-Online Butterfly Effect by the way. It will tell you in short how it can be on Eve.Just a tip.ltr

  • it has happened, mate.

    true stroy.

nevertheless, the second war, called The Great War was far larger and worse.

(more ppl were playing eve at that time)

  • the war in eve really happened how it came to i dont know but its not cause of story line war between 2 alliances there have been bigger wars

one with over 250.000 players over 4 days and nights and you find the huge masses of destroyed ships still there...

great game^^ in tht war also 2 space stations were destroyed which had been there since the beginning of eve and now gone.. and they worent be replayced cause they got destroyed..^^

    hop i could help

  • @Cubesonfire

    This really happened

EvE Online can change like this and it's all on the players to do so, not the devs, which makes EvE kick ass!

  • It happened when a number of new regions were created then new alliances moved in.

Sides were chosen, stalls laid out.....war ensued.

Battle for every system, every station, 24/7 people loged on, fell asleep at keys, woke up started over.....

Was when eve was great and in drew you in irrespective of how long you had played...

It was the first all out eve war, and it was the least lag :)

  • Was a combination of older 0.0 platers and new 0.0 player trying to start up their alliances.

Many splits within earlier alliances climaxed in the main war that eventualy happened.

Led directly eventually to the creation of BOB and EVE players know where that went.

BTW I was in COD :) LLebring thanx for the video, even now it takes me back......

  • long live the corp of BoB!!!!

  • Do you have to pay per mounth?

  • yes thats the only down side lol but its 100% worth it if u like a nice steady pacing game, with realtime activity. and joining or creating a corperation that could become huge wether is for mining or war or w/e its amazing!

  • yeah you do but the game is only $5 and you have to pay $15 a month but you never have to pay for expansions which are released at least twice a year

  • how did you get the new npc pirate sounds in '08 O.o

  • Who won?

  • I was hunting a mining barge when i came across pheonix getting owned...

  • @WonderWaffells57 Mining barges didnt exist with this original phoenix alliance, nor did official in-game alliances.

  • its player driven wiht player factions/gangs so what you do makes the story tis really cool

  • I dont understand this game. Is there a story and quests?

  • well theres a background story and missions , but most of it's all dynamicly done ingame, this war in particular was between player alliances (lol i've only been playing a week though, eve wiki ftw)

  • dude you can do missions and stuff, even mine but the missions are mostly repeats of one another and are intended only to provide money. the point of this game is to get good ships, join a corp/ alliance/ coalition and gain a good amount of territory. you could say the endgame of this game is pvp based.

  • ammm nope. The endgame of this game is whatever you want to do.

  • i disagree. this is an open ended game. there is no such thing as 'the best ship' or 'the best skill set'.

the strongest ships can be taken down by some of the weakest ones if you're smart and know how to organize properly.

this is one game that you actually get the 15$ per month you pay for. this is one game, that if you lose a ship, you actually lose something worth of value. this is one game, that actually gives you an adrenaline rush when you have massive fleet ops.

  • that was a reply to thuzan btw...

  • @randomrebel08642 kinda you should play the 14-day trial mate it will fill it in definatly worth your time though

  • This thing makes the great push look like nothing, even with less players. Nobody was safe. Shame what happened to BoB afterwards though.

  • Dam this movie was made way before apocrypha. I was a pilot back before the Shiva patch if that'll give you any idea of how ling I've been playing.

  • Your still a youngin

  • make this clear man I thought this was the 17 century great northern war

  • If you thought that, you didn't pay attention. If you look at the title, it says "EVE Online" at the beginning. Open your eyes.

  • yea I did lol

  • It says eve dude.

  • I knw MAN I SAID I GOT IT WRONG

  • Was this the First Great war?

    O_o

  • badass, is there a map of the entire EVE universe that i could look at?

  • EVE maps can be found by searching for "territorial maps evelopedia" (first hit in Google). The one made by Verite Rendition is one of the best-known of the current ones, showing who has the sovereignty of which solar system, updated straight from the game's API (once every day). There used to be a political map maintained manually, but at the moment you pretty much just need to know which alliances are forming what coalitions.

  • Eve is one of those games that starts pretty bad and slowly gets ownage. Run through the tutorial, its idealif you've already got friends that play it. And be wise, remember eve's an open universe. Everyone will screw anyone.

  • Play the tutorials Dspr and be prepared for the complexity...

  • 4:53 o-o damn...

i dont play EVE, but im gonna try it... any tips?

  • Yeah: Remember this, EVE has a learning CLIFF, not a learning curve.

Its very hard when you start, give it some time.. its a great game.. But at the beginning, you're the equivalent of a homeless guy crawling out of the gutter trying to find a sub-minimum wage job.... So hang in there, it gets better.

  • @DininDalael Yea seriosuly. Then you get to a point in which you don't even have to pay for the game.

  • @hool10 Not paying? I havent played EVE, but isnt there a monthly fee. Could you enlight me on that matter?

  • @madoldman4 In 0.0 or nullsec space, there are special enemies that rarely appear (but not too rare). There are also special dungeons you can do in these areas which are hard. But the boss usually gives out special items that people are willing to spend 500mil+ for. You can buy a game time code or GTC from a player for around 600mil. People do this all the time in 0.0 corps and alliances.

  • @hool10 thanks for the info :)

  • @madoldman4 15$ or so, its much better than WOW though so its worth it

  • @DininDalael Great analogy. I recomend searching "Eve online Learning curve' in google under images.

  • @DininDalael yes a learning cliff, with barbed wire at the top and land mines along the way to a village of cannibals with long grass and hungry raptors in it but beyond that is Valhalla with all the mead and meat and beautiful women and glorious battle one would ever want. someone should draw a graph sometime

  • @DininDalael they should implement somesort of Big brother partnership.

Old members helping new members and getting SDK for the job

  • @DininDalael I've been playing the game for 2 years and I'm still in that gutter ;(

  • @JinRenegade I've been playing for 3 years and I'm still shit-poor myself. Only way to really make money is to fuck with the market and pick a trade you wanan specialize in. Grinding lv 4 missions doesn't cut it anymore. 10m/hr kinda sks.

  • @RedCrescentDemon

    W-space ftw?

  • @Stewkers Ugh, w-space. I've died a couple of times in there. W-space is pretty aggravating to make a profit out of nowadays. Sure the loot andf salvage is great, but that's assuming someone else doesn't come in and take it from you or kill you.

  • @RedCrescentDemon

Lol hisec, Im enjoying my 15 mil ticks in null, along with 5 bil a week building ships.

  • @Epoch615 Well, yeah. But don't you think the high sec market is more active and profitable? Or am I wrong? Just wondering.

  • Very......moving (in my perspective). Great video, though 5/5

  • Ahh the good old days when RKK was good

    /Sun Ra

  • From what I hear RKK is tearing it up in Minmatar faction warfare... lol.

It really saddens me, too. RKK and BoB were tremendous adversaries. I had a lot of fun with them back in the day.

  • wont lie I loved the intro with all the reasons for fighting 5/5

  • This nearly cost me my marriage at the time :)

'battle, ships dead, new ship battle enemy ships dead, damn Im dead, new ship battle .....rinse repeat for what seemed forever.........superb'

    CoD my 1st alliance......hehe.

    DARK.....

  • Oh and I forgot...was minimal lag....

  • Nothern what? I've never heard of them thar names

  • What's the song that begins around 3:30?

  • it's the opening track off of linkin park's second album - reanimation

  • God how I miss those days, in my opinion this was when Eve was at its best. There have been bigger wars since this one but this was the first one where there was no place to hide.

  • What song is that near the time 7:40, Something about a cold cauldron.

  • Check the movie We ware soldiers of Mel Gibson

this song is in it (sound track search and done)

  • o and he didnt make the video is on the site ^^

  • i miss EVE as well i'm going to rejoin soon

  • 9:42 cool

  • Thanks for the vid. nicely done. cool learning about the history of the Alliances and the GNR.

  • thanks for uploading the video, it wouldn't download correctly from evefiles.

  • I really like the way you did this vid, great job! Makes me miss EVE even more. Only joined back in March of '08 but I love how the players pretty much make the stories.

  • They dont pretty much make it the whole history of EVE is player based this was a real war on EVE and there has'nt been anything like it ever since

  • so everything in eve is player run, like the entire galaxy could fade into war at anyone with enough powers whims?

  • yes and that is what happened in this war the whole galaxy faded into war and it didn't matter where you were if you were not apart of it you were in more danger then if you were apart of it but yes that could happen again

  • Please learn to punctuate. Jesus....

  • No One Cares it's the Internet You Wanker!

  • Just a tip that would help you to actually communicate more effectively. I don't give a shit about correct punctuation, but when there is none at all it can be difficult to read at times.

  • Fair Enough But Be a little more nicer next time. ok

  • this war was 4 years ago lol

  • this is the best eve vid yet . do these corps still exsist in game and is the war still going to this date or has it all been accomplished

oh and was you in this war?

  • No, this was in late 04. It effectively crippled the Phoenix Alliance, eventually leading to it's downfall and the rise of the Great Northern Coalition and PURE.

  • woah, ive never seen footage of eve this old.

is hard to imagine a pre bob eve :)

  • what is the 8:19?

  • Joseph Kilna Mackenzie - Sgt. Mackenzie

  • first and last song plz thank you =) grate vid

  • 1. Evanescence - Wake Me Up

    2. Queen - Princes Of The Universe

  • whats the last song played

  • Is the "we are soldiers theme" by jerry goldsmith

  • you know i wonder if ccp is ever gonna make this war part of eve lore, hope they do if they havent already. rich player driven piece of history here.

  • i love it when this happens, when an alliance gets to big, everyone else levels it down to size, i guess it's just what people do

  • Great video!

  • I luv EVE Online and the Northern War is a great piece of EVE History!
