i go to bed at the right time so that im in bed for eight hours but i only get about 3 hours of sleep as i suffere from a condition called restless leg syndrome which makes my arms and legs feel uncontrolably tense and i have to move them otherwise i can't sleep.
I go to sleep at 8 PM and wake up at 2-3 AM, man, it's really great, I get to be "up late god damnit!" and feel spectacular by the time "school starts" too bad I'm not in high school.
I started to drink coffee when I was 16 cause I was tired. Now I drink it almost every day and sometimes a few times a day or an energy drink if I´m tired.
@SilentReaper44 That would be awesome. A friend in Japan said that they have school in the evening. I want that cause I´m not good at going to sleep early.
After 11? That'd be a dream to go to bed that early. I go to bed a no earlier than 2 a.m and have to get up at 6:30 a.m. I'm trying to get into MIT, so I'm busting my ass.
I got a 4.178 GPA last quarter so its paying off. But it still sucks ass. Feel like shit during the day. All stiff and achy from no sleep it just sucks. Guess I just gotta focus on the reward til i suffer my first heart attack at 30. Ha
try being in the british army & getting up at 5:30 every morning & smashing your body all day everyday.8/10 people its diet & mental stimulation needed to overcome tierdness. 9 hours sleep a night & no excise during the day is a bad civilian habit lol
I DO agree that sleep deprivation is a very dangerous thing. 'Not only does it produce symptoms of ADD, making it more likely that teenagers have accidents while driving cars, but, PROLONGED SLEEP DEPRIVATION CAN BRING ON ALL OF THE SIGNS OF PSYCHOSIS. I believe the public needs to be aware of this. It happened to me 3 times and I was diagnosed with chronic schizophrenia. It hasn't happen again for over 26 yrs, and I have been drug free ever since. (See my channel to read my story.)
I don't remember any of us falling asleep in class when we were young. In those days movies started at 8:00 PM and lasted only til 10:00. I think most of my friends went to bed around that time. We didn't have computers either. There wasn't anything entertaining to keep us up late at night. Most of us didn't drink coffee for breakfast, and we drank milk for lunch. There were no Coke machines in school either. In short, I don't think teenagers naturally need to stay up late nor sleep in.
I get about 4 hours sleep every 24 hours and I am fine. Not great but not in any mental or physical anguish either. Being deprived of sleep just slows you down a little. You think slower and just feel very mellow. I don't believe that not sleeping causes brain damge though, can't see how braincells deteriorate without sleep. Whatever, sleep when I feel like it.
I get 4,5 hours sleep a night and it needs to change soon cause it's making me dull, apathetic and jittery. Thank god studies are starting soon and i'll shift to working evenings in stead of early mornings!
Come to think of it... my morning classes ARE my lowest classes! Health, Biology, Algebra. But I think that's slightly coincidental because I've never been good at math or science.
Haha, this is kinda true. On average I get 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night. But I'm usually awake for most of my classes--except algebra. But I'm always falling asleep while I'm doing my homework.
I just stayed up all night, no sleep, and I feel like im under a weak high. I can't think as straight anymore, I feel kinda down, I look like a wreck, I can't see as straight-things keep wriggling which makes me think I saw something move in the corner of my mind. It's rly not that fun ppl. Get some sleep. Not doing this crap again.
you know, if society wasn't so concerned with making a living based off mind intelligence, then maybe they'd see that the mind can only function as good as the body can be healthy...just a thought
Shoot, like anyone ever wants to change around the way kids work. Its the way things are. Things will probably change in the future, my high school was checking out what we had to say and what parents had to say, they concluded a different schedule might help students. But the question is if we wake up later will we just end up staying awake longer, and therefore creating a cycle, I felt this wasn't answered.
So teens biological clocks make them fall asleep later naturally, yet the suggested solution is to have them go to bed earlier? That works when I'm heavily sleep deprived, but otherwise it just seems like a waste of time.
It's weird that high schools haven't acted in response to these findings yet. Everyone attending a high school sees how dead tired the students are in the mornings.
You think this is bad?! im a freshman in high school and have to be at school by 6 IN THE MORNING. Then have to run(athletics first period),then dont get back from school till after 4. Then i have off-campus activities, chores, homework, projects, and will soon get a job. I GET only 4-6 hours asleep every night. and if i could..i would go to bed @ 7:30...i really would. if i could..
It's weird, but the last few nights I've been going to bed at 1 and waking up at 7:30 and I feel the most rested in weeks, I always toss and turn and wake up in the night when I go to bed like at 10, but now I don't. Probably bad for me though...erghs.
Let's be honest here-the main reason why we sleep so late is because we procrastinate and leave our work til the last minute. It's either that or we're up on MSN or what have you chattin' it up. It's not about biological clocks, it's about learning when to say when and a lot of people our age like to leave the consequences for later.
When I was 14, I slept 4 hours one time, and the next day at school I literally had problems keeping my eyes open, and they sent me to the nurse's office to take a nap on one of the Nurse's hospital beds.
2-3 hours of sleep a night is average for me during school, sometimes I'll not even get to bed at all, which means I risk falling asleep during class and risk being drug tested because I was sleeping in class and I've actually almost ran off the interstate where there wasn't a rumble strip, it was where 2 interstates split and the road was turning and I and my sister almost became part of the guard rail.
