  • i'm doing this for my presentation. =]

  • I sawn a tee cup rhide do dis once

  • computer fans work like this

  • Round magents work better

  • invention is nothing but the realisation of an already existing possibility [ in this case in our system/dimension etc ]

  • I've tried this one at my physics lab, but it won't works and there was no rotation. I just wanna ask what type of magnet that used in this experiment. Answer please ?? THX

  • simple, there are atom size electric motors now like one molecule size.

  • ya ur's stops when u stop

  • you can get it up to 10,000 rpm with a round magnet

  • aww man that could spin faster if you would use magnet that has no angles

  • No, because the coeficient of friction does not depend on the shape of the surface of contact, and like a golf ball would be without dimples, more air would stick to it & slow it down.

  • Then just have a round magnet with dimples.

  • no, I mean that if it's a circle, it doesnt hit the angles, 'cause there arent any. so, it you connect powers from bottom of that magnet, it works the same way. if power lines hit the angles, it will be more slow

  • The speed of a round magnet is probably faster because of the longer time of contact with the power lines.

  • yes, and the fact there is no angles to hit

  • Round magnet has always gone faster in my tests

  • The Faraday/Homopolar/MHD Motor IS the simplest motor in the world, at least conceptually

  • 1) THIS motor could be simpler: the insulation on the wire is extraneous as is the unnecessarily stranded wire.

    2) A simpler motor is a cosmic radiation particle spinning a water molecule. No metals needed, just H and O.

  • Omg, all electric motors in this world work on the principle of electromagnetism. Try thinking next time b4 you post another dumbass comment

  • You sound like a teacher, here someone is all excited about science and your calling them a dumbass? Come to think about it you would make a great politician/preacher too.

  • ive seen easier ones made!!!

  • Does anyone know what the power draw is like on a system of this type, as opposed to more traditional electric motors?

    Thanks,

  • cool

  • I've seen it (several times) but I still dont belive it! The idea and principles are there but it is amazing!!!! You have to love science and mechanics especially when they meet!! Great video I love it, THANK YOU.

  • yo nice vid! i'm doing a science fair and i'm just wondering how i could use this to make it into an experieriment ( ex. moving a toy car??)

  • on ların ucundakı normal bi mıknatıs mı ya

  • Nice

  • all we need now is a permanent battery ;) like a magnet is a permanent magnet....

  • I'll get to that right after making my perpetual motion machine.

  • About that Permanent Battery comment .... type in "Neutrino Rods" into YouTube here and watch both videos. Prepare to be amazed !

  • is that the "elemental rods" videos? yes they are fantastic aren't they! Thanks Kevin :)

  • So how do you build it and with what? need one for project!

  • not much "building" involved: you fix the magnet to the flat end of the screw. then you place the screw beneath the battery (the magnet will make the pointed end stick to the battery.

all you got to do now is connect the top end of the battery with a wire to the SIDE of the magnet - it will start spinning. (easier with ROUND magnet! the square one has the wire lose contact between the edges, but as you see it still works)

  • but how does it work what makes the magnet and the screw spin

  • this is not a fake. consistent with the "right hand rule". current goes, and magnet spins right, toward teh movement of electrons. its interesting because the rotating part itself is part of the circuitry! how clever. but if you were trying to make it more powerful, wouldn't you need to find some way to fix the rotating part so it doesn't move around?

  • fake i did this sum people are fucking artards

  • Faraday already found it 19th century...so this is not FAKE

  • yes, a round magnet would even work better -

but the rotation is much easier to see in a low quality internet video with a square one ...

and hey, i really wouldn't know how to fake this! :)

i stumbled upon this experiment on the page where i buy magnets and was able to re-create this within minutes.

  • you can use a round magnet

  • you need a round neodymium magnet under the screw a battery and a copper wire put the magnet on flat part of screw and put pointed part of screw on to the negative side of battery put 1 end of wire on the positive side and touch the magnet a few times with wire it should start spiing

  • it's called a homopolar motor

  • basically it is what happens in the car electric motor

  • No it isn't.

And am I still not sure if this is true. I tried and it didn't work, but I'll try again.

  • WHAT DO YOU MEAN FAKE, you people are retards! Eccept for the ones who actually did it, and the people who dont think that this is fake!

  • sorry dude, its not fake, its the base of a DC motor.

  • Never mind, better screw, a few more magnets, and it works.

  • Hmm doesnt seem to work with my flat circular neo magnets. I guess you have to use a square one?

  • Fake? Never mind..just ordinary physics and a little bit of creativity...

  • Yep. This is obviously fake. This is years beyond our comprehension of physics.

  • fake

  • Great!

what effect you are taking advantage of?

I'm not understunding your previous answer.

It's really AMAZING! New to me.

I'm waiting for you answer. Thank you!

  • haha, nice one..

  • @dihk: the screw is not permanently magnetized - it is held to the battery by the magnetic power of the magnet below the screw.

yes, the magnetic power-leprechaun reaches through the screw and grabs the battery ;)

  • Neato, what do you do magnatize the nail?

  • This is cool :)
