Thanks for the refresher course.. I played this one many years ago.. I love your teaching style .. I have seen so many teachers say the proper chords and it makes it confusing. "Relative to the Capo" is the way I like to learn.
This was extremely helpful, and the part where you followed along (flawlessly) it really helped see how it comes together, plus the picking of course first off made that possible. Thanks so much! If you can do Dust In The Wind any time soon, since I'm subscribed get alerts, I'd love it! :-)
Just a little request here. .. if you could teach the lead .. part by part.. it's a little difficult for a slow player like me.. anyways.. thanks again.!!!
Once you get the picking pattern rolling, your 2nd pattern on each chord is different, I don't hear the B string on each of the second patterns. I think you are playing 5, 3, 4, 2, 5, 3, 4, and the timing is different then what you first showed. That's what Im hearing. Otherwise good job sir!
It's taking me a while but I'm slowly getting it down - thanks a million! Really nice of you to take time to post this. Please don't take it down - I need about 2 more weeks!
might you be able to show how to play the chords just in a tad bit more detail. I can barely see what you're doing and it's hard to make what chords you are playing. thanks very much for the lesson though :)
@TheLuisberg Yeah, you can play without the capo, but you can get a cheap one for around 15 dollars. It's worth it to have one. I just play it where the regular "c" would be if that makes sense.
@TheLuisberg It is called a capo and it will change your life if you are learning to play guitar. I love my capo because it allows me to play a song in a key that works with my singing voice. It doesn't cost much for a good on. You use it to change the key so you can play simple chord shapes.
@TheLuisberg Look online for "How to make a Capo" tutorials... Some people just use a few rubber bands and a pencil. They're actually quite a useful tool to have when learning guitar.
@TheLuisberg to play this without using the thing on the neck aka the capo, just improvise and use a pen and tie it with a shoelace, thats honestly what i do. works like a charm. gl
@TheLuisberg The capo is relative to voice. So you don't have to have it., Stevie Nick's used it because the tone compliments her voice. Ignore the poster's reply, it was kind of a dick comment.
@TheLuisberg .. As far as getting the same sound as stevertr.. You could tune your guitar up a step and 1/2 if you don't have a capo. I actually play a version that is a half step down from standard tuning, which would be 2 steps lower than this because it matches a male voice a bit better. I suggest learning it the stevertr way first and then adjust accordingly to your voice.
this is terrific! thank you so much. your picking pattern saved me when i felt like it wasnt sounding right. I just wasnt picking it right or fast enough. Thank you!
i just dont understand why you would inconvenience somebody for an answer that you could get yourself... through my eyes that is an ignorant thing to do.
A little more explanation of the left-hand fingering would be helpful, its hard to make it out on video. Could be just me, I suppose. Thanks for the lesson, its a great starting place on a great song.
@NearlyNormalSteve its pretty easy actually. Just hit string 5, 3, 4, 2 continually. So as you change from chord to chord just hit the same strings. Thats all he's doing. So, string 5 is A, 3 is G, 4 is D, an 2 is B.
what a cock...put some fucking lights on and get off the 'roids

is this supposed to be the live or recorded versions? Because if it's the live its not correct in several parts.

called a capo. they're pretty inexpensive, but you COULD still play it, but you'd have to chnge the chords up two frets

@TheLuisberg its called a kapo... and if you dont use it, it will be more difficult to play it, then with it. (((:
the kapo is a very genius invention, athough some call it a cheat. (((:

that's called a capo, i don't have one too.
It's okay, grab a pencil and a rubberband.
Put the pencil over the fret, tie your rubber band on one side and pull over (under the neck) to the other side.
it works just fine.
if you get what i'm saying that is.

@TheLuisberg Lol, Its A Capo. KAY-po :P and i dont believe so, this is good :)
SilasR7 10 months ago
@TheLuisberg or you can use a homemade capo, pencil and elastics
SilasR7 10 months ago
@TheLuisberg Barre the chords, and don't play the D7/F# like that. It's a hell of a lot harder that way though when this is really a simple song.

That C to G thing to A minor is exactly like some dust in the wind stuff!
Dust in the wind's picking pattern is screwing me up. When I transition to another cord, my hand starts to do that "travis picking" pattern.
I hope I can learn to play this song...
