  • we will run out of hydrogen?

    Then how will we breath?

Also, manufacturing the components needed for a true electric vehicle costs the same as producing and fueling a mildly performance oriented 4 cylinder for 25 years.

We don't need electric, we need more diesel powered alternatives, europe does it, aussie land does it, canuckistan does it.....so why can't we?

Oh right, the greeners decry it as "EVIL because of soot"

Soot is, for the most part, harmless to the environment.

  • He's right, If we all used electric cars the world would be a better place. There are only a few electric cars today. The leaf, Volt, I-miev, and smartcar electric, and a geewiz are the only being made by big companies, It's 2011 And have the technology to make electric cars only. You may ask "wont it cost alot to charge?" It wnont because you could mount solar pannels on you're garage roof or house roof. You see people, If we power'ed are houses cars and building by electricity. There be no GW

  • Crisis is not only oil. It's limited atmosphere capacity. Fossil fuels are bad. But how about radiation from nuclear plants that will have to power up recharging of those cars? Nuclear plants like the one that blew up in Japan or Chernobyl. Where will you get electricity to power your electric cars? Your house? First people need to be interested how to make or get the electricity. From the house is not the answer. Wind, gravity, and the sun, there also must be new ways to produce electricity.

  • @V8Fiero2M8 Your gallon of fuel costs around 5.5-7.5KWH to process. That electricity takes an electric car further than any normally fuelled car.

So lets cut out the middleman who hates us anyway.

  • cool video do you need a licence to drive these vircakes also what age do you need to be in the uk?

  • voice-over was good enough for me LOL. great video. May I invite you to visit our organisation and talk about your goals and ours? I believe we could make a real difference by joining our efforts! (thezeitgeistmovement) thanks for your time!

  • And what will be used to generate the electricity to run this car ?

  • @jeffdarga100 These things run more energy friendly. So your question to you when oil is not required. See my last post ;)

  • Electric cars won't "save the planet". They will cut down on smog like places in California. Converting a used car car is still the best route now. No need for DOT testing and you have parts support.

  • Poor voice over choice.

  • Yeah, that was me. Thanks.

  • if I got the grand prize I will buy one of this.

  • Good point concerning "If they don't buy it it won't help anything".

What if nobody buys ANY of the designs? By limiting the price to under 20,000 and the range to over 100 miles, you are essentially limiting this to golf-carts that go fast... What if no-one wants ANY of the finished products?

Oh, and unless renewable electricity is used there's no real benefit for the planet to switch to electric cars. Something to consider.

    Still, good idea.

  • That's why its good that there are so many companies working on their own versions of this type of vehicle. Once they become available, the market will decide which deserve to stay in business and which deserve the trash heap.

And there IS a market for these, even with gas currently pretty cheap (how long will THAT last?). I mean, how much would you pay for a decent car that could go 100 miles on 70 cents?

  • And as far as the "no benefit to switch" thing? There are ginormous benefits, even if all our electricity comes from coal, which it doesn't. Gas cars are about 20% efficient at turning that fuel into motion/propulsion. Electric cars are about 90% efficient.

  • On the issue of renewable electricity ... this is just another misnomer. The fact that having millions of combustion engines running around dripping oil and possibly not tuned properly, increasing the potential pollution, AND dripping fuel at gas stations (which also have tanks in the ground that occasionally leak). (sorry for the sentence structure. I'm ranting here). Having one central location (power plant) to control emissions would be much easier. AND! We could still use renewable too

  • decided by a focus group? doesn't sound very specific...

  • Yeah, well, try cramming all those details into two minutes.

  • you can be specific and breif

  • Global Warming does not take breaks! CO2 rises, and so do temperatures and sea levels. We are cooling, and seas may even be falling. GW = wrong, wrong, wrong!

  • "ohhh today is cooler than yesterday.....IT'S GLOBAL COOLING!! ahhhhhh!!"(NOT!)

yup, global warming is MAN-MADE and electric cars etc would be great

  • The world has been cooling since 2005: Go outside, see!

  • A three-year cooling period doesn't mean there is no long-term warming trend. That's basic statistics. Any real-world graph has ups and downs all over, but what we look at is the larger direction of the data.

In any case, we still only have a limited amount of oil in the earth. Imagine what would happen if we could no longer make steel or plastic! Plus, gas autos contribute to lung cancer by polluting populated areas.

  • @mistreeman It's now 2011 and its still cooling.
