the thing about all this whos harder shaw and mclein nonesense is that fightins not all about how hard you are or technique etc . both men were feirce strong men who could give it and take it but sumtimes it just comes down to a lucky punch ..if either men hit eachother clean on the chin theyd both be in trouble and u could say that for any 2 men fighting.. yer mcelan won 2 outa the 3 fights but that dont mean hes harder/better etc
Roy did well to win this as stander was a real tough-nut and fought some top guys - he also had a knockout win over earnie shavers! - doesnt looked like he trained much for this fight though - (i heard he had cracked ribs going into it) i think at his best he woulda been too much for shaw - but still - he did well to stop this guy
All these guys were legends and rightful 'Guvnors' however, Lew Yates for some reason never seemed to get the opportunity to be one, although he is regarded as the 'True Guvnor'. Lew had been training in boxing from an early age, therefore, he wasn't just an 'on the tiles' fighter but one who was trained in Pugilism, and suffice to say would probably have been a 'Guvnor' as he was a 'Master' of both, and seeing these fights in the ring on Youtube may have been up there if given proper chances.
