Big tip, when recording have the gain at at 6 or 7, for lower tunings, turn up the treble to about 9 instead of about 6,7 which is what most metallers have, and the bass and mids, biggest mistake is metal heads think more bass per track will give it a bigger sound, well if you multitrack like one guitar far left as possible, another far right as possible, the 3rd slightly left and 4th slightly right, with gain at 6,7 each one, and mid HALF WAY, low mid = poor solid state pantera tone.
VERY kse influenced.....it does sound similar to a couple of their songs....but FUCK these people that tell you you ripped them off...also sorry for commenting on so many of your vids....im a troll...but the GOOD kind

@13thNemesis Ahaha, i know! People dont know what the hell they are talking about. They say.. "man your amp really sang!" yeah.. thats line 6 for ya :)
Hi bro!..that is a good sound...i have a quiestion, ¿did you use any pedal of efects or did you plug in direct to the amp?....i´m planing to buy one of those amps...
yer its not far off, just a bit simpler and in drop D, sorry for the attitudes, I have a fair few comments from people telling me I'd ripped off kse with my riffs... lol
hey im confused. ive been looking at both the 112 and 212 version of this and the sites say they are exactly the same. the 112 is 40w the 212 is 40w and they both have the same speaker and same tubes. can somebody tell me the difference between the two?
the beginning seems a tad sloppy. you might get a better feel if you move your picking hand a bit more to mute the strings between harder strums. other than that, nice amp!
Yeah, your right of course you need to have everything on 10 to get the best out of it, plus have a Marshall stack the size of a skyscraper and be playing Wembley Stadium ! That's what it was designed for by EVH. I saw him interviewed and he said everything was always on 10. If you turn a 5150 up to 10 it it would be like in the movie "Back to the Future", when he tests his amp out at the begining ! it will only make sense if you have seen it !
If you sold your spider valve for a 5150 then you will regret it in the future in my opinion. I have a 5150 combo as we speak and a spider valve. The spider completely walks all over it in every department. I personally could not get a decent sound out of the 5150, even if I stuck 10 pedals on it. But if you like it, best of luck.
Hey, To be honest I agree, I sold my spider and bought my 5150 and I play mainly at low volumes, All I get out of my 5150 at low volumes is fizzy distortion, so in the respect of low volumes your probably right. If you turn both amps up then I'd take the 5150 anyday, once you get the post gain up the fizzyness goes and it really sounds great. However neither of the amps were really for me, So I've bought a Randall RM100 and I'l see how I get on with that :D
lol actually the mistake you made was bying the combo instead of the halfstack. the 5150 combo is terrible but the halfstack rules. there is a way around this though. get a sonic equalizer pedal and you should be able to get the low end chunk the amp is famous for.
Please will you read the desciption before commenting??????????

FWIW, the riff sounded great. I love my Spider Valve...finally, a decent all-tube modeling amp. It's been a long wait.
Im not sure you comprehend the point of this video. Its a test of the amps tone; not my playing. Do you know why I play guitar? Because I enjoy it. So I'l play whatever the fuck I want. I'm not in a band, I'm not tryin to push musical boundaries. So what if this is genric? I don't give a shit, I ENJOY PLAYING IT. Twat.

yeah, i have tried this out before at guitarcenter with a schecter C-7 hellraiser.. (picking it up this weekend)and it was sick, but i had to keep it quiet so the tubes were barely kicking in.
yea man i had the same problem, couldn't crank it in the store enough to see how the tubes sound turned up. I would like to hear someone's opinion who has played a marshall tube or something without modeling in it as well as this amp and compare them.
I had a marshall DSL401 before this, I just couldn't find the sound I was looking for from it so I sold it, don't get me wrong its a great just not what I was after; too muddy for me. This is amp really does take on the characteristics of a tube amp when turned up and its freking loud too!!
To quote Total Guitar;
"The main thing TG wanted from our wad of cash was a stone-dead valve tone. And baby did we get it! We don't know wether it was line 6 or bogner who deserves the back slaps over this
mighty beast, but when you crank the arachnid you get some of the hottest, sweatiest, most organic tones there are on the market. Nice work spider men."
i play a lot of rhythm and i already have a peavey using their hybrid transtube tech, and solid chords in rhythm leave me with a mess of distortion.. im looking for a high gain tube amp, but there too much, does this cut it?
Tone is VERY subjective "tube sound" sounds different to some than others. As far as i'm concerend it is definately a tube amp and has that warmth and fullness of sound you would expect, the presets take some of this away though. But within a few seconds of tweaking everything I'd expect from a tube mp is there.
But to be honest the only way you'll really know is to try it, I can say though that its does keep its clarity well at higher gain levels.
you are an idiot this is all tube, its the same as having a podxt live plugged in it. also has its own charicteristics as a tube amp hence the bogner name on the front. learn your amps and tech
you need to learn YOUR tech. It uses a DIGITAL= SHIT preamp. Those power tubes are being wasted on a shit digital preamp, and the 12ax7's are phase inverter and driver tubes. There is no point unless the tone generating preamp is tube as well like the H and K Switchblade. What the fuck is Bogner thinking? Line six is slowly coming to grips that tubes sound better.
I have to disagree, This amp really does have tube tone when you crank it. Sure it may not be exactly like the amps its tries to emulate but I owned a Marshall DSL401 previous to this and im my opinion the spider sounds ALOT better. Maybe im just odd but thats my view; I guess thats the wondefull thing about tone ITS SUBJECTIVE so dont go telling people you think this amp is shit because, you might not like it, but they might. They'll never know unless they try it for themselves...
You like it better than the 401? That amp never did sound right for some reason(el-84's maybe?)Thats fine if you like the line 6. It was only MY opinion, not the worlds. At least they have it 50% right.
Yer I know what you mean, the DSL never gave me the sound I wanted it just wasn't for me; its not a bad amp just not for me lol. I'm debating an ENGL 530 preamp to see what kind of sounds I can get directly into the poweramp. Hmmmm I wonder...
Or a VHT Valvulator preamp... Those VHTs are vicious...yet...warm and fuzzy...soft and cuddly...or sweet and sensitive...when you want them to be... But the ENGL is an excellent choice as well
before you shoot your mouth off research first. this is a true tube ammp, 2 ax7's pre tubes and 2 6L6 power tubes. the pod which is digital feeds the amp. its the same as having pedals hooked up to a tube amp. you can bypass the digital section in the back and have straight pure tube. alright spanky
Wrong. The PREAMP is digital so it doesn't matter what the poweramp is or if it has 12ax7's. Those 12ax7's are driver and inverter tubes for the poweramp and don't generate any of the tone in the preamp. Sorry, digital preamp = not all tube. Get it Sparky?
ok dink, here is the FAQ off spider web site:Are Spider Valve amps true tube amplifiers? Absolutely! The Spider Valve combo amps use two 12AX7 tubes in the preamp section and two matched 5881WXT(6L6)tubes in the Bogner-designed valve power amp section. These amps are not "hybrid" amplifiers that use solid-state circuitry to amplify the tones produced by tubes in their preamp sections. It goes without saying that Reinhold Bogner would not put his name on a product he was not extremely happy about
Ummm...Lizard...preamp tubes are only for voicing anyway... The 12AX7s are there to perform the same job they do in any amp...warm up the tone before the poweramp tubes amplify it... Get it sparky?
So I would say, if you're gonna do a lot of gigs, go for the Spider Valve because it's way easier to use on stage and the clean channels sound much better of what I heard, and anyway the Valveking doesn't sound that much better, nothing like an ENGL or a Recto.
However if you're really looking fo some pure sound and if you're not into using too much effects, the Valveking remains a killer amp and is really worth it's money. In my point of view, if I could go back in time, I would have waited and bought the Spider Valve. I had the Spider II and I miss how easy and practical it was.
Does the spider valve sound less like a true tube amp because of all the effects? I know this is new technology mixing modeling with tubes so i'm kind of paranoid. I love the tube crunch and warmth and don't want to sacrifice it if a good distortion pedal can give me the heavyness I need. Thoughts?
The only way you'll ever decide is to try both of them and make up your mind. Alot of people who own either amp will have biased views, and those who dont wont in general have had enough time to really get to know an amp. Personally I love the amp its got such a great range of tones, more than I'll ever need. But the only way for you to know which is right for you is to try them both!
I've got the Valveking stack and to be perfectly honest here's how I feel about it: -I like the killer sound even at low level in distortion mode. Very pure and punchy. I like the clean sound but it isn't fantastic. -I hate having to use pedals, it's a fucking loss of time, money and plugs...
Hi, Its a riff from this months Guitar Techniques Magazine. Its from the modern metal section which is in the style of Killswitch Engage. The song the riff is based on is "Take This Oath"

SexyLeprechaun28 4 years ago
you are an idiot this is all tube, its the same as having a podxt live plugged in it. also has its own charicteristics as a tube amp hence the bogner name on the front. learn your amps and tech
fireball676 4 years ago
sorry i was thinkin of the older spiders.
SexyLeprechaun28 4 years ago
you need to learn YOUR tech. Line six is slowly coming to grips that tubes sound better.
lizardneck 4 years ago
I have to disagree, This amp really does have tube tone when you crank it. Sure it may not be exactly like the amps its tries to emulate but I owned a Marshall DSL401 previous to this and im my opinion the spider sounds ALOT better. Maybe im just odd but thats my view; I guess thats the wondefull thing about tone ITS SUBJECTIVE so dont go telling people you think this amp is shit because, you might not like it, but they might. They'll never know unless they try it for themselves...
chrism3006 4 years ago
You like it better than the 401? That amp never did sound right for some reason(el-84's maybe?)Thats fine if you like the line 6. It was only MY opinion, not the worlds. At least they have it 50% right.
lizardneck 4 years ago
Yer I know what you mean, the DSL never gave me the sound I wanted it just wasn't for me; its not a bad amp just not for me lol. I'm debating an ENGL 530 preamp to see what kind of sounds I can get directly into the poweramp. Hmmmm I wonder...
chrism3006 4 years ago
Or a VHT Valvulator preamp... Those VHTs are vicious...yet...warm and fuzzy...soft and cuddly...or sweet and sensitive...when you want them to be... But the ENGL is an excellent choice as well
WarmothGuitarist 4 years ago
They do look pretty interesting, but they're probably quite expensive? The ENGL is only like £350 and I dont know who even sells VHT in England lol.
chrism3006 4 years ago
yeah...good call. Finding a VHT there, is probably as hard as finding an ENGL here in the states.
Don't worry about what other people, on YouTube, might be saying about your amp choice, riffs, and tone.
People seem to forget the big picture, being that you're playing guitar...instead of being out on the streets, commiting crimes.
It sounds good man...keep jamming bro...

before you shoot your mouth off research first. this is a true tube ammp, 2 ax7's pre tubes and 2 6L6 power tubes. the pod which is digital feeds the amp. its the same as having pedals hooked up to a tube amp. you can bypass the digital section in the back and have straight pure tube. alright spanky
kork777 4 years ago
Wrong. The PREAMP is digital so it doesn't matter what the poweramp is or if it has 12ax7's. Those 12ax7's are driver and inverter tubes for the poweramp and don't generate any of the tone in the preamp. Sorry, digital preamp = not all tube. Get it Sparky?
lizardneck 4 years ago
ok dink, here is the FAQ off spider web site:Are Spider Valve amps true tube amplifiers? It goes without saying that Reinhold Bogner would not put his name on a product he was not extremely happy about
kork777 4 years ago
Ummm...Lizard...preamp tubes are only for voicing anyway... The 12AX7s are there to perform the same job they do in any amp...warm up the tone before the poweramp tubes amplify it... Get it sparky?

Can you post what settings you had?

Yer, I see what you mean. I haven't listened to that song in ages!!! SICK tune :P
chrism3006 4 years ago
So I would say, if you're gonna do a lot of gigs, go for the Spider Valve because it's way easier to use on stage and the clean channels sound much better of what I heard, and anyway the Valveking doesn't sound that much better, nothing like an ENGL or a Recto.
chavezchavez2 4 years ago
However if you're really looking fo some pure sound and if you're not into using too much effects, the Valveking remains a killer amp and is really worth it's money. In my point of view, if I could go back in time, I would have waited and bought the Spider Valve. I had the Spider II and I miss how easy and practical it was.
chavezchavez2 4 years ago
Does the spider valve sound less like a true tube amp because of all the effects? I know this is new technology mixing modeling with tubes so i'm kind of paranoid. I love the tube crunch and warmth and don't want to sacrifice it if a good distortion pedal can give me the heavyness I need. Thoughts?
B2Rockin 4 years ago
The only way you'll ever decide is to try both of them and make up your mind. Alot of people who own either amp will have biased views, and those who dont wont in general have had enough time to really get to know an amp. Personally I love the amp its got such a great range of tones, more than I'll ever need. But the only way for you to know which is right for you is to try them both!
chrism3006 4 years ago
I've got the Valveking stack and to be perfectly honest here's how I feel about it: -I like the killer sound even at low level in distortion mode. Very pure and punchy. I like the clean sound but it isn't fantastic. -I hate having to use pedals, it's a fucking loss of time, money and plugs...

Hi, Its a riff from this months Guitar Techniques Magazine. Its from the modern metal section which is in the style of Killswitch Engage. The song the riff is based on is "Take This Oath"
