@cable729 have a listen to his Six Wives of Henry the Eighth a great deal is taken from that work, Dog the Bounty Hunter is of course a piece by Ozzy Osbourne for the theme of a TV show
It's so irritating how everyone screams and whistles throughout the song! This is why I never go to concerts :( Oh well, this is an excellent composition and performance anyways!
It's funny it's even being mentioned...Rick Wakeman is a flourish master...the raised hand at the end of a passage, etc.
There is another video on YouTube somewhere of Rick Wakemansan vs. someone from an 80's dance band called Level 42. Rick was clearly faster in the key progression, yet at the end he HAD to raise his hand in flourish before hitting the "stop" button. Rick lost. Obviously it's one of his million ways to make sure you are paying attention to what HE is about to do. Watch me!
The opening piece is, indeed, "Madrigal"; It is mis-titled on CD, DVD, etc., and I was told--by an extremely reliable source-- that it was deemed financially unfeasible for it to be corrected. The middle piece is a fantasia based upon "Catherine Parr", with musical connections to both the opening Hammond statement and the backing MiniMoog lines near the end of the original song. As for the "hand-shaking": I'm not sure of its' benefit, although I have seen him do this on other videos as well.
Do you see how he shakes up his right hand before the uberpwnage at 2:47? Definitely just for show (as a keyboard player, I can confirm that shaking your hand doesn't make your fingers more limber) but it makes the following solo look just that much more intense and impressive. What mad chops!
is from Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman & Howe album A evening of yes music plus...or something and the song is a medley from Gone but not Forgotten/Caterine Parr/Merlin the Magician
2:36!!! SHITT :D

I personally think Rick was waggling his hand to limber up for the fast right handed section...
DonRaggo 2 years ago
@DonRaggo i thought he was just trying to shake his cuff off of his hand so it doesnt catch during that fast right handed "panflute on speed" part
