I wish it were Pascha always!

This is so beautiful, thank you! I love that the Greek has a very Slavic accent, it sounds so nice!!!!

  • Absolutely beautiful!

I enjoy the way they go back and forth between Greek and Slavonic, reminds me of the rich heritage that is our beloved church

  • This sounds Slavic to me. I hear them chant Xristos Vaskres, and answers Vaistinu Vaskres. Meaning Christ has risen, He has truly rissen!

  • @PeopleOfAr

Bless Brother! They chant the canon in Greek, but they get to the part of Christ is Risen, Truly is Risen, that is said in Slavonic.....then chanting Christ is risen is Greek 2 times and then final in Slavonic....God bless

  • @vagos2006 thanks for the answer brother! But I suppose they are Slavics as they have a heavy accent when they pronounce Greek words. Are my suspicions correct?

  • @PeopleOfAr

Well this is Valaam monastery....they speak only Slavonic! so yes they would be slavic......But they do a lot of chants in Greek as well, thats why they have the accent. God bless brother!

  • this is magnificant! Glory to God in the highest. But i have to say this isnt full reek u have russian in the first hymn to

  • HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!! ! ! ! !

  • Божественная песнь

  • the Byzantine eastern section(east of Danube), is a big blind spot for me. i know the larger picture, but not the other stuff. all i know is a god named Perun was popular in the region among Slavs. i want details on the initial religious clashes among Orthodox and Pagans in the region(excluding the northern Viking raiders). i will uncover even the smallest event of signifigance! :)

  • blessed be!

  • This is stunningly beautiful. Might I ask where you got this recording? I can't find it anywhere, and I would love to have the complete Kanon, instead of simply the Heirmos of each Ode.

    Thanks!

  • I got off their Pascha CD. They don't chant the entire canon in Greek only Slavonic. The only Greek is the beginning of each Heirmos and that is it. I edited out the slavonic and put up only the Greek because the Slavonic is chanted completely different in terms of Melody.

  • @vagos2006

Ah, I see. Well, thank you for doing that; the Byzantine chant is beautiful. What is the name of their Pascha CD?

  • @vagos2006

    Simply Beautiful... "Xristos Asesti."

Thanks, Saratoga Springs, NY - USA

  • can someone please write the chant of Christ is risen

in Russian but with English letters
