  • The singer looks like an old schoolmate of mine lol

  • this is real music

  • At 2:55, is that guy playing a JEW'S HARP?! Playing a Jew's Harp at a Can show!

  • it's called musical bravery, love it or GTFO!

  • it's love song ;)

  • salute ortodox fools and all the others ,but... that's not religious song, it's higly conscious song, which has nothing to do with religion ...go ask your priest you motherfucker

  • wenn es nicht heute noch viel schlimmer wäre, müsste man sich wundern, wie spießig das damals letztlich doch war

  • i must say, this doesn't sound so hot...............guess every great band has their bad days.

  • "I got NO Time for WESTERN LESSONS....I AM.....Damo Suzuki!!!!"

  • damo was not the first singer - but the best - the damo stuff is my favorite- he had presence

  • I do not understand any of the comments: What´s wrong with the audience? They have long hair, so they must be on drugs? And what has all this to do with Metalheads ? And why do people have to talk so much about music. It is what it is, not what somebody says about it.By the way MY denomination is roman-canabian- unortho-toxic- cocacatholic Protestant.

  • Damo is a rock god

  • @blixaps:

damo do not much to the band can.he just sing on 1 album.he is not the original singer of can.

  • @Plexpara Damo actually sang on 3 full albums and parts of others - all of Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi, and Future Days, along with some tracks on Soundtracks and the parts of the live albums. And while he's not the original vocalist, he is probably my favorite - Mooney is awesome as well, but as Tago Mago is my favorite album of all time I've gotta tip the scales in favor of Damo.

  • @Plexpara He's on three actually and part of the Soundtracks record so 3 1/2, I suppose. It also has Malcolm Mooney who left. Soundtracks, Tago Mago, Ege Bamayasi, and Future Days.

  • よろしい。いいです。でもTHE? でもいい!

  • Kraut RULEzzzzzz

  • I don't know quite what this is - not sure if I like it or not, is it amazingly good or just bad?

  • leck is der typ breit

  • It's easy to like this stuff now. Not so easy then.

  • Ha ha, THE Can...

You boys go on in five minutes what' your act called?

    Can

    Ladies and gentlemen The Can!

  • Awesome!! *****

One of my favourite songs of Can. This live performance is cool!!

    Great stuff, thx!! :-)

  • Can are great, but this is not a good example, sorry.

  • ha! the crowd is so confused. goodness, they're way ahead of their time. they might even be ahead of our time.

  • maravilloso full of pain i enjoy it a lot, thanks for sharing!!!

  • Never mind the audience , here"s THE CAN . I am a SERB from Belgrade , Iam listening this for 15 years and I can"t get enough . I am not drug consumer . I am orthodox and i salute you all .

  • @predragpopovi05 so orthodox not use drugs?? :D

  • Too progressive even for that "modern" audience.

  • The crowd looks like they fucking hate it! lol

The studio version is a little better, I think. This is still nice though.

  • methamphetamine

  • Suzuki rockt..yeah!

  • This song has a beautiful melody!

    It is pure reflection!

  • Jau tolles Stück, einer meiner Lieblingssongs!! This song's one of my favourites by Can, they were awesome. I like this video and saw it uncountable times. Thanks!!

  • the name of the album is SOUNDTRACKS is the second album by CAN and is a master pice get it !!!!!

  • Great stuff

  • Is there an album that includes this version ? Or is it only on a DVD or something ?

I'd very much like to listen to it otherwise than 15 times a day on youtube :P

It is far... wilder ! than the Soundtracks' studio take.

A whole lot of thanks for the upload !

  • One of my favorites. Truly art !

  • Special dedicace to Mickael Karoly

    the Mill too Miss You

  • a lot metalheads are just idiots, they're always trying to be tr00 and become ridiculously blind. I'm a metal fan myself (in fact, death metal is by far the genre I most listen to). However I'm proud of being an open minded guy, and lately Can has become one of my favorite bands, true visionaries and artists.

As for the scale guy, you just showed how you don't know shit about this band, we're talking about an experimental rock act...

As for melo-death, Intestine Baalism rules! \o/

    :P

  • this is ok but i prefer their other stuff

  • Englische Kritiker schrieben, "Can- das Beste , was je vom Kontinent gekommen ist" - dem ist nichts hinzu zu fügen!!

  • Please show some respect

  • thanks for this - it shows some really early roots to what became an amazing sound that holds up to this day - listen to tago mago and see if you dont agree

  • hehe, yea right.

  • Got to disagree with you there! Paperhouse, Mushroom, Oh Yeah, Hallelujah ? All Great tracks

  • Amazing !

    CAN forever

  • Thank you for sharing this :)

  • It's seem the fans of supposedly "melodic" death metal band Deadlock seem to feel compelled to leave negative comments on this vid. Why can't you just say, "This isn't my thing," and not post comments on this video.

It may surprise you to learn that not everyone likes melodic death metal. So, can't we just agree to disagree? Everyone is allowed to have different tastes.

  • Said everything

  • ...so, what can I say?

Can was one of the most important krautrock bands ever,Holger Czukay, the bass player, studied electronic music with Karlheinz Stockhausen, the drummer,Jaki Liebezeit played jazz for a long time before joining Can...and now a 15 years old metalhead, looking for a melodic death metal band (oh my god!) wants to teach to Michael Karoli the pentatonic scale...now I've seen everything in my life...

  • I'm fairly certain Michael Karoli know's the pentatonic scale, I'm fairly certain he's choosing not to use it.

  • herrcsoma, i think you´re gay!

  • you just showed us how you don't know shit about music.

  • Hahahahahahahaha

Cant believe I just read that.

Other people have said pretty much everything you must hear.

    Just to add:

Probably many of the "great bands" would lay down on their knees for CAN.

  • Im pretty sure all your favourite bands hail Can as one of the greatest bands of all time. Heck, every drumbeat all your favourite bands have ever done where done by Can before that.

  • can wasnt the first

  • GROOVY! This Band very very underrated

  • Is the singer Filipino?

  • Japanese and awesome as hell! :)

  • Right on that is trippy

Thanks for loading this footage, this is a great song in the studio but Can is better live, they shred this version.

Karoli trims ferocious feedback - can't get enough Can!

  • Fuck yeah! THE CAN! Way to go Michael@2:22!!! Deadlock indeed!

  • no words. thx to jenshalen and special thx to WDR:)). to watch CAN live was my dream

  • waahnsinn- can - heute, wie vor fast 40 jahren der hammer! danke fürs posten!!

  • You should drop and worship these guys. They had more talent and imagination than any of them deathmetal shits can come up with.

  • awesome!!! damo suzuki!!! :D:D:D

  • i played with this cat a coupla times,good fun,till i had sun stroke,never got asked back.thats rock n roll.

  • Beautiful...

  • it sounds shit to shitty ears

  • what kind of fx pedals is Karoli using to get that harrowing fuzz sustaining sound?

  • Possibly homebrewed. I think Karoli never used an amp, but instead relied on the band's PA/amps from Farfisa, more famous for making Organs. The Beatclub Paperhouse video shows a lot of Farfisa gear but no bass/guitar heads specifically designed for that purpose. Can also had those strange amps which were almost 2D thin, and stood upright next to the drummer at gigs. Seen them in a few videos including the Cologne free concert I think...

  • "THE CAN"

  • Ooohh! Damo Suzuki is so awesome! CAN rocks! From Denmark.

  • x.x
