  • IThe Zomnbies are awesome . Shes not there was a huge number one hit when I was in the 4th grade and one of my all time favorite 60''s songs - MY band does that and She's not there. I saw Rod Argent at teh Fillmore West in 1970 open for John Mayall - Saw the Zombies in 2006 in Charlotte - But people get real NO BAND can touch the BEATLES - no one even comes close !!!!

  • I like The Beatles and The Zombies but I prefer The Zombies. There is something different about them. Well that is what I think.

  • I am 14 years old and I think I'm in love.

  • let the dead rest and enjoy their music.

  • anyone know who wrote this one? sounds like an argent but iv been fooled before...

  • i cant believe that no one heard of this band....they deserve much more publicity ,,,,i guess the beatles took over

  • @hakeelon Considering that the Zombies recorded Odessey and Oracle at Abbey Road Studios "...where earlier in the year The Beatles had recorded Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Pink Floyd recorded The Piper at the Gates of Dawn...," I think the Zombies were contemporary with the Beatles. Despite the Zombies' start in 1961, they didn't get big until 1968 after Odessey. The Beatles "invaded" America in 1964.

  • @jrh98033 : They wrote most of their music as did the Beatles. Unfortunately, before or shortly after Odessey and Oracle came out they had disbanded. The three best albums from the 60's would be Sgt Pepper, Pet Sounds and Odessey and the Oracle which was a masterpiece.

  • a classic!

  • I can't believe that this song never cracked the Top 40...the lyrics certainly influenced Bono . Same theme as "One" or "With or Without You."

  • God, I love this song. One of my very favorites by an amazing band. Thanks so much for posting it.

  • The zombies... has to be my favorite band of all time.

  • WHENEVER I hear the zombies especially this song, i take the lyrics and sounds differently (in a good way) than anything else i've ever heard !

this was the third song i've heard with them (when i was 5)!!!!!!!!

sorry, in shorter words i love this song!!

  • I hate it when i say, im listening to the zombies and people immidietly think its black ops :/

  • If we talk about underrated bands then this is it , to me they are the Jazz/Rock fusion pioneers!

  • The Zombies are in my top five favorite bands, out of about 200.

  • Colin is so FREAKING sexy, I can't stand it. Totally was born in the wrong time. Maybe they will make that time machine and I will go back in time and yeah, get to kiss those gorgeous lips. Gawd! I'm READY already!!! <3

  • Oh, god; the nostalgia is killing me....

  • I was fortunate to have had this as part of the fantastic soundtrack of my youth.

  • great blues song.

  • @jbounds12 Great blues song???

  • this should have been a #1

  • the zombies forever

  • who tha fuck is this 'kamper66'

  • Man, can these guys come up with some gorgeous harmonies.

  • "Whenever You're Ready" was a huge hit in the Providence, Rhode Island market during the Fall of 1965. It received constant airplay - along with "Get Off Of My Cloud" and DC5's "Over And Over".

This is one of their great records.

  • badly underrated, like the Small Faces and many others

  • This should of been a huge hit. It's one of those songs ya can't get out of your head. I have their greatest hits and I find myself playing this one alot!

  • If I could here a zombies song before I died I think I could go peacefully.

  • *hear

    =)

  • ...superb piano solo for the era.

"Whenever You're Ready" is among my favorite obscure tunes

    that should've been hits...

  • I love the new vid of this song from 2009- They sound great. Colin whispers a bit more on the recording, and Chris Whites vocals are missing, but otherwise its like a trip back the swinging 60's.

  • you may or may not notice a baseline similar to the one in "time of the season".

  • Yeah. It's a great line though, simple but great.

  • @93Newyorker97

    my first though.

  • Colin is beautiful and the others are nice looking.

  • Sure, but it's still a real gem. :D

  • I think it must be the recording engineer counting them in on 9 at the very start of track when the band is still figuring out how to play this thing. The Zombies were really ambitious and took risks with the pop format. Remember they were 20 at the time. This is great.

  • The Zombies were a first rate group by any standard. The timing is awesome. They didnt need session musicians. They hired the drummer right out of the military (he was a military drummer) so i'm sure he wasnt exactly a flower child.

  • dated=retro super cool

  • ..slightly differs to the single version...

  • What a great song!

  • ...their best "non-hit".

Rod Argent absolutely drives this tune with his electric piano work throughout...

  • Dinosaur Jr cover this on their new album!?!

  • Classic, feel good 60's tune! I haven't heard this song for about 20 years, until today. Such a catchy tune.

  • this is one of those great blueprint classic brit-pop songs i played this for a 20 year old kid i worked with hes now a zombie fan love turning kids on to the classics

  • My mom used to sing this song when she was doing the dishes... this, and help by the beatles. Such good memories.

  • These are good songs.. and sometimes I would just like one voice singing them..

  • They deserve more recognition, they were talented and tried hard---too bad

  • I enjoyed this

    thanks

  • Wow!!!! Great song.

  • Is this a cover of a Motown song, or a Zombies original?

  • It's a Zombies original, not a cover. But it has a timeless, classic quality to it that makes it hard to believe that this song wasn't the big hit that it deserved to be back in the '60s.

  • After more than 40 years it still sounds so fresh and cool ! Great musical ideas and vocals, love the jazzy electric piano sound. Thanks for the HQ audio.

  • I agree ! IT'S PERFECT !!! I've been listening to it for more than twenty years and it's still the song that makes me feel better when I'm upset...so many good memories !

  • Great song. It brings back so many memories from the sixties when I was growing up.

  • Its so underrated, its a crime. The perfect pop song, in my opinion.

  • the zombies are by far the greatest band of all time. They are so underrated.

  • Now there is also many underrated band's.

And btw: there is many many rock, blues, pop-rock, band's from 60's wich are great, but 99% of musicfans never heard about them.

  • ....and of course, being American, looks are everything.

  • They were British, not American, despite they were much more appreciated in the USA than in their own country¡¡¡

  • I'd love to hear "goin out of my head "again..They made the song for me.

  • Mate I'm 23 I just dug that song up out the blue doing a bit of music research and it's brilliant I don't understand why these songs aren't legends.

  • Listen for example Tiffany Shade, Superfine Dandelion etc... they also make great music and they are unknown =(

  • never understood why this song is so underappreciated.

  • Best song from then, an hidden Gem
