20 years ago today.. I remember being at this game, and being in shock from everything that happened.. Badger Bob got this franchise to become a winner, and it is no accident in 09, the team motto was It's a Great Day for Hockey
@MrsPaul Oh sorry, I didn't make myself very clear. I know Bowman wasn't a rookie coach with us. I meant that the coach was in his first year with the Penguins. Badger Bob coached in Calgary too for a little. Badger Bob came in 91, Bowman replaced him in 92 and Bylsma replaced Therrien in 09.
This is a lovely tribute to the Badger. He was an excellent coach. He boosted up our team's attitude, confidence in order to make our team strong. If it wasn't for Bob coming to Pittsburgh, we wouldn't have won Lord Stanley. Still makes me want to cry my eyes out seeing this tribute. But I still know that up in Heaven, Bob is smiling like a butcher's dog with the success that our team has been pulling off.
Badger Nation will Never Ever Forget You!!!! You are smiling down at Mark Johnson who is continuing your legacy with the Wisconsin Badgers!!!
If it was not for you Badger Bob, we would not have a force to reconkned with nationally in NCAA College Hockey. The Badgers have 6 NCAA titles because of you.
As this weekend is the Camp Randall Hockey Classic in Madison, we will never forget your quote "ITS A GREAT DAY FOR HOCKEY"!!!!
It takes a lot to make me choke up, and this did it. I was only 10 years old when Badger Bob passed away, and even 18 years later this ceremony still hits home.
I was also 11 when this happened. I remember crying like a member of my family had died. Great coach and great guy..he brought us our first cup in pittsburgh..."its a great day for hockey"...thanks badger
I had the pleasure of being at this game. I was 11 and to see a very emotional craig patrick before the game and not a single dry eye on that ice. The Pens when on to beat the devils 8-1. God Bless you Bob
we miss you terrible badger if this video doesn bring a tear to your eye you have no soul the way this great hockey mind and woderful man died is truely a kick in the nutsack GO PENS!
As we go into the Cup Finals this weekend, Badger, the Penguins will have you in our hearts and our minds. We know you will be with us in spirit, and we won't let you down.
It's a Great Day for Hockey! RIP, Badger

Has anyone ever realized the Pens have only ever won the cup with a head coach in his first year? RIP Badger.

@mindlessman2009
That's not true -- Scotty Bowman was a veteran who coached for the Montreal Canadiens back in the 1970s.
