Tagging Vs The Semantic Web

The way I understand it is that the semantic web is more about standardized markup - ie "tagging" the tag text with standardized markup

This allows computers to identify the tags easily without knowing about the structure of the page or needing to do any natural language processing

For example this page implements tags (click the show more in the description). But, if I wanted to extract these tags using a parser

I'd need to look for the text inside a> inside li> inside ul id="eow-tags" class="watch-info-tag-list"> directly after h4>Tags: /h4> This method is limited by only being applicable to youtube and not any other tagging vid sites

or look for text displayed directly after tags in a header and trust my luck. This method suffers from being rather hit or miss
