Oscar Nomination Predictions, Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor & Best Supporting Actress, five separate videofiles are all now up on this channel! Check it out!
I think you'll like it. Everybody likes it. It very well may win Best Picture as unlikely an Oscarwinner as there ever was. It's a large part in HINDI! But it is very uplifting at the end.I didn't put it on my Top Ten List because I liked those 10 films better, but "Slumdog" was a very good, gripping drama.
I've subscribed under my other channel, bevscorner. On Slumdog, it was one of those films that leave me with more questions than answers on why I responded the way I did. I hope you are right. I remember feeling similarly about Crash, and it won! :-D
I think Annie is definately getting nominated. Wouldn't that be great if she won? It's possible, in an upset. Best Actress is a very volatile, unpredictable race, and they haven't even announced the nominations yet! We'll see who wins what at the Golden Globes on Jan.11.
"Changeling" is named in Part One of this three part show on the Ten Best Films of the Year. We started at ten and went up to Number One. This videofile contains #s 3- 1. Thanks for your question. I know it's a little confusing.
I totally agree, Tainteshia, who, for the record is a friend and fan!Jeff Nichols will read this and be very happy that you liked his film so much! Michael Shannon was beyond brilliant in this! He's one of America's greatest young actor and he and Jeff work REALLY well together!
Because after the screening, in a different location, he did a reading that was sold out and I was very sad that I missed it.
From what he said earlier at the Q&A it sounds really interesting.
Also I totally agree with you that Milk is one of strongest films of the year and very prolific for the gay movement and apropos to what's going on in California now. Im glad you enjoyed it as much as I did.
No, I haven't heard anything about "Goat." There is an Edward Albee play that played on Bway a couple of seasons back called "The Goat." Would it be that one? It's about a suburban husband who falls in love with a Goat! I'm not kidding! And it won the Tony for Best Play!
Sounds like a strangely wonderful play, but no this is about a young man that is trying to recover from a brutal attack that occurred while he pledged to a fraternity. It's actually a memoir.
The script was written by David Gordon Green who produced Shotgun Stories and directed Pineapple Express and Snow Angels.
I remember Jeff mentioning that Mr. Green was an old college buddy and he was the only way that Shotgun Stories could have been made.
I didn't know that David Gordon Green was involved with Jeff Nichols and "Shotgun Stories." Thankx for the update. I do remember JN telling me that he had some frat boy hazing movie coming up. Maybe this is it.
I sure hope Jeff's career is moving forward. He's super talented. He edited "Shotgun Stories" as well as writing & directing it. And the editing was all done in his basement! I don't think he saw it on a big screen til it was shown in one of the big festivals, SXSW I think. I caught up with it at the Newport Film Festival two years ago. He was worrying that it would go straight to DVD. I'm soooo glad that IFC picked it up. And yea! to David Gordon Green for helping!
Yeah he said it was a long and grueling process. He even was pretty brave for filming in on film instead of digital, which would have been a lot easier, but wouldnt of had the same effect. He even said in the middle of production they started running out of money, but if it wasnt for David Gordon Green or the other producer who stepped in (I cant remember her name) the film would of never been finished.
And did you hear Roger Ebert even named it as one of his top 20 films of 2008!
I'm very glad you mentioned Shotgun Stories. I saw it at the Cucalorus Film Festival and both Jeff Nichols and Douglas Ligon were actually there and they did a Q&A session after the film.
It was a wonderful film that is very underrated.
I dont understand why it hasnt gotten any buzz, especially since it was his directorial debut.
I can't wait for your Oscar predictions video!!
