  • Ive been playing with the Pick for te past 2 years .. and It is true !! your Very limited To Expressing certain notes.. ( ex.. Double Muted notes before playing the actuall note -Jaco Style) but Since then ive decided To Go hybrid and man that deffinitly works !! Try to Get The Remaining 2 fingers (middle and Ring Finger) on your Pick hand to start moving ... Thats what happened to me .. and ive been practising ever Since .. Finding the balance between the 2 Styles Is A challange

  • Bobby, BOBBY, bObBy, BoBbY!!!!!!! i LOVe iT!!!

  • what's the point of saying that :

"The Staccato'51 was developed as a cooperation between Tower Of Power bassist Rocco Prestia and TC Electronic."

    Rocco was busy ?

the pay was not high enough ?

    .....?

anyway, Mr Vega is one of THE cats who could do this, entertain and teach us.

  • I didnt know Ron Jeremy played Bass!

  • It looks like he's wearing those Groucho Marx style glasses

  • I thought Bobby is a latino. Kinda breaks the white people thing. omg

  • Wow! too funky for words 8)

    thanks for posting

    Peace out

  • You're not human if you don't move at all when you hear this.

  • Hahaha, this is an epic "IN YOUR FACE!" to all those bassists who claim playing with a pick is a bad thing (H)

  • @JosephGallagher

    So true!!!!!!!!!

  • @JosephGallagher Yes!!! Thank you for pointing this out. All the pick haters need to give it a rest and learn something. For more great funk picking go check out Curtis Teel play For The Love Of Money with The O'Jays. The original track was laid down by Anthony Jackson but I think Teel does a great job here. Check it!

  • @JosephGallagher I have heard only a few pick players achieving that "feeling" with it, and if it is your only approach to bass, you will have a very limited tool to express yourself.

Chris Squire and Jonas Reingold are kickass players, and as Bobbythey excel at pick playing, but they know that you cannot only rely on that ;)

So yes, pick playing can sound great, but it is also VERY limited. I would encourage a player to add as many techniques as possible instead of arguing pick vs finger.

  • one of the really greats !

  • Yes.

  • Way to go Mr. Vega

  • YEAH TOWER OF POWER!

  • Funky dude!
