  • How do u teach a dog to even play soccer and stuff

  • I love soccer and i need to work on my kicks but i dont have a big wall or something to kick to myself so if i get a dog im gonna teach it to get it for me.

  • My dog can play soccer!

  • how did you go about teaching them to aim & bring it back?

  • Check out my dachshund playing soccer on TheSlily.

Get your dogs to play against each other... I think there's a future in dog soccer.

  • how did you teach them to head it ? it looks so cool

  • and urs is not selfish and better trained than mine

  • but she cant do a headbut

  • my dog is a better soccer player

  • can they play in my soccer team? They're better than most players in my team

  • awww so cute

  • my dogs way better then that lol

  • i love how your other 2 dogs are just chillin out on the sidelines xD

  • Not even my dog can play soccer to, well not all does moves but it can dribble

  • my boorder collieis just like that :D

  • Your videos are great! I've been following You Tube for years but these are the only videos that have gotten me to subscribe and comment. BTW, I'm not a kid, I'm a 64 year old female.

  • Lol teach them how to do bicycle kick.

  • #lol veryy good

  • Could try gettin couple balls gettin them to hurd them.

  • In europe there's actually a dogsport like this. It's called treibbal. The dog has to guide the ball in a goal.

  • My mom's dog loooovvvveeesss soccer! You have to hide it or he'll play till he throws up =\ Super cute though, maybe I'll post a video.

    <3

  • that's great Zak. It's harder to carry 10 soccer balls though isn't it? I'm working on teaching my dog to juggle. Maybe when I get further I will post a video.

  • how fun would it be to teach them to get goals, and play with a team of different dogs. BC on one side, A different color dog on the other, like rotties, they are a herding bred as well, or golden labs, and should like to play. That would be very cool to see. I heard you say you preform with dogs. Just an idea.

  • my dog sorta plays soccer she takes it runs around u and gets u jelous cause u dont have the ball lol

  • i also have a Border Collie, and my entire family plays soccer! so she's been obsessed with it ever since she was a puppy. She's actually gotten lose during soccer games and run onto the field! anyhow, its probably because they're sheep herders, and focus all of their attention on this rolling object.

  • ohhh soccer dogs ^^

  • I think that the reason that your dogs enjoy doing this so much is because they are sheepdogs and love the herd. The ball, especially a soccer ball need to be dribbled to move the correct direction. The dribble is sorta like their herding. Because they are eyeing the ball and thinking of how they should move it. When Venus saw the ball, she stared right at it with that Border Collie stare and she was nelt down like she were herding. I feel weird telling you information since your like the pro.

  • my dog does this too!! and she's a lovely American Field Labrador!! and getting a red and white B.C. male :) hopefully tri-colour they're beautiful... i also tought my Labby how to bow with your technique worked!! :D

  • thats like air bud

  • you didnt "notice" it-idiot-u taught them...

  • YOU THE BEST

  • Wow, your communication with your dog is unbelievable! Your amazing!

  • zak, any of your dogs do backflips? if not, could you teach any of them?

  • My BC also loves a soccer ball. I had to get him interested in the frissbee but he is a natural with the soccer ball. He loves it so much that I had to break him a while ago of ringing a bell that he does when he has to go to the bathroom that he started ringing just as an excuse to play with the ball that I would kick around with him after he used the bathroom.

  • love it

  • I am glad to see your dogs with a soccer ball. I have been trying to find a ball that my border collie couldn't pop and the soccer ball maybe the answer.

I too will be looking for more videos from you on what to do with a soccer ball.

I love your videos they are very helpful

  • Nice soccer work Venus! ;-) lol

  • smart dogs

  • Hey Zak, My dog absolutely loves a soccor ball, but her favorite is her basket ball! She loves to toss it in the air with her nose, and roll it to me. It's a herding thing...she's and English Shepherd. I'm trying to think up some tricks with it, so can't wait to see more that you and your dogs do with a ball! Have fun.

  • Hi Zak! The way your dogs are playing with this soccerball just shows that they have a great herding instinct. Here in Germany there is a dogsport that became quit popular in the herding dog scene about 2 jears ago where the dog has to "herd a big gymnastics ball". I don't know if this sport is popular in the US too. The dogs do it exactly the same way as your dogs, just the ball is much bigger. It is for dogs with a great herding instinct and owners how have no sheep.

    I really like your videos!

  • Hi Zak! This is Mike (Max's Dad). I and Grace miss Venus very much. She is a genius. Max sprained his left foot seriously while we are doing delay vault.

I should have paid more attention on landing..

anyway, Good luck on your new show!

  • My dog also likes to play with my soccer ball, out of all the things that I tryed to get her into she likes to play with a soccer ball....

  • you should enter your dogs in top dogs contest on regis and kelly and be on there show.

  • Dude your dog has amazing soccer skills! I wish I had a Dog like that! =D

  • My sheltie loves to play soccer too! She likes me to kick it real far and then she attacks it! Great video! Love 0:26

  • lol cool, i had a dog who liked to kinda play soccer but not as much and he wasnt as good as ur dogs lol xD and whos soccer ball was that?

  • LMAO! Who woulda thunk it? Zak George, SOCCER DAD!:-)

It's part of their herding instinct. My Cattle Dog loves to herd his basketball. Tried a soccer ball but he just bit it and popped it. :-(

  • So cute! You should teach them to hit it in the air to each other, that would be awesome!!

My 1 year old Mini Aussie loves playing with a soccer ball too. She's just not as "intense" about it as your dogs are, but she always tries to keep it away from my 4 year old Great Pyrenees mix. It looks funny when she won't let him play with it because she's only 23lbs and he's 70lbs. lol

Love your videos!! Have a good day!

  • lol, my dogs play with anything they can get. they even try to bite 3 liter bottles of soda. tehy cant even get them in their mouths. 5/5

  • Well...my border collie is very into soccer. As well as a ton of dogs at my dog park

  • Honestly, my dog does the same thing, but with a basketball. She really wanted to play with the ball, but since she couldn't get it in her mouth she rolled it to me with her nose. Now we got out in the back yard and play "basketball soccer".

  • lol you should look at 1:37 lol he looks really funny! XD

  • Awesome Zak!

  • That's too cute Zak.

  • wow! What a day! That must've been fun :)

  • My BC also loves footballs, as they are called in the rest of the world. You can also try Volleyballs, they are about the same size but a bit lighter, which is nicer when they hit your nose.

  • My border collie mix LOVES that game

  • Just love your dogs...

  • lol uno liked the soccer ball i got him too. it was great....until he popped it from catching it in the air so many times. lol. guess i should get him a new one. lol. they're only $4 at wal-mart.

  • My dg does this you can kick the ball once and he's set for about 2 hours then you can just kick it again i think its the herding in him

  • MY DOGS LOVE SOCCER BALLS!!!

  • My dog, Kaleb, loves his soccer ball! It's his favorite toy! He would play soccer all day if I let him...

  • haha.. thats sweet

  • homer does that. hes nuts.

btw agility is totally the best dog sport ;)

  • I wonder if you could get your trio to bounce the balls to each other instead of just to you. I bet if you set up goals, they would catch on immediately.

  • You almost have a soccer team.

  • loooool

  • It blows your mind that your dogs like balls? Sadly MOST dogs like balls... its really not that new to dog training.

  • You can have the dogs play soccer with a small net.

  • so funny :)

  • now THAT'S a world cup match that I could not miss!!

  • Fun Game (little training value)

Find a long hallway or room. Kick tennis balls or whatever against the far wall. You get a point if you can hit the wall and have the ball come back to you. Fido gets a point if he/she can stop the ball before it hits the far wall. Nobody gets a point if anything else happens. A healthy dog has amazing reflexes and can block a lot of shots at close range.

  • Have always adored your dogs! I think they are kinda "herding" the ball.

  • gotta love border collies!

  • My dogs always loved soccer, hes a small dog but he moves the ball with his mouth and really brings it to me.

  • I believe it! Jesse goes crazy for soccer balls, he can even pop some of them if they have a little leeway =) We should start a team of Soccer playing dogs, now that would be awesome to see =) Venus, Super Nova, and Alpha are just adorable. ~Heather and Jesse~

  • thats cool but instead my dog plays with a basketball she's a jack russell

  • Venus's mind at 0:43... O_O what is THAAATT!?!?!?!

  • haha 0:47 is so funny :)

Actually this stuff is called Treibball in Germany . You can find some videos on youtube about Treibball. It is a new sport used for heerding dogs to keep them sane :)

  • NICE!

  • did you ever hear abut the soccer collies? this guy had a whole team of them i have competed against one in disc dog.

  • Keep playing 0:26 over and over it is funny

  • 0:26 his dog says hello lol

  • ive tried playing with my dog!! but he just bites it and keeps it to himself!! HEs A PITBuLL

  • my dog loves soccerballs too :D

  • my australian shepherd does this

  • I have never tried to play soccer with mine! She would probably try and pick up the ball lol.

Your dogs remind me of the soccer Air Bud movie XD.

  • this is awesome! I still wish my dog would listen lol she wont do the click or doing meat thing works :(

  • Awweeeeeeeeee

  • aaaa!!! sweet!! :))

  • Hahahaha!!! Well there are plenty of dogs that I know that do love soccer balls...most of them are border collies...the other few are probably labs and pits and some JRTs.

  • hey, thats EXACTLY what my dog does!

  • What was that sound in the background? It sounded like the dog barked and yawned at the same time. Cute. :)

That's cool that the dogs play soccer. They're so intelligent. :)

  • It's a Border Collie thing...all three of mine love to play soccer.

Could you do a video about how you got your other dogs to wait so patiently while you are working one dog?

  • Your pups are insane ;). My dog puts her toys away.

  • border collies really seem to be into soccer. it usually starts out because they see it rolling somewhere and for some reason it really seems to activate that prey drive and herding instinct even if that border collie is usually well focused. they just NEED to control the thing! after that, they know the ball is just a fun toy and they go crazy for it. my border collie loves soccerballs! i have to make sure to put it up when she is not playing because she gets too focused on it.

  • Sweet!

  • Awsome!!! 8 more and you have the full team

  • that is pretty sweet how you tought the dogs to volly the ball :D

  • Why

  • oh no! please don't!! Zak will be devastated!

  • i can't believe those dogs can volley the ball

  • I got no idea how you do it, my dog loves playing with balls as well, he just snaps them and hops away! How the heck do you... make 'em actually dribble the ball?

Also, it's just amazing how they respond to your every voice command!

I tried teaching my dog to sit, lay dow, and say hello... so he wouldn't do it until I gave him to smell the food, sometimes he would pretend he's not intrested in the food and just... steal the food of my hand! :(

I'm just hoping that it takes more time...

  • 0:42 "OMG!"

  • Haha, i wish my dog would do that.

  • sweet man, looks like ur having a lot of fun

  • I think the soccer ball gives new challenges to those dogs....its more than just catch, catch, retrieve, retrieve, catch, retrieve you know what i mean, the dogs actually control it.

Well, anything is possible, and that's how I understand it, g'luck. your dogs are doing good!

  • Nice Video!!!

  • haha.. venus is great at dribbling. HAH. The Border Collie version for AIR BUD! :D haha! Awesome video zak!

  • Just like my dog used to do. He was all into soccer balls too.

  • hey thank you so much!<3333

  • That is awesome...
