Would love to listen to this song on a rainy night relaxing in the dark. This song would then connect directly to the heart and I can bet any one can listen this 4 minute of melody all night.
By far, my favourite number! The melody is unparallel Greats like majrooh, Sachin Da and Hemant Da came togather to poduce an immortal gem of Indian cinema music!
Good song from SD Burman and good rendering by Hemant. Some how feel strange with Dev Anand acting for this voice. Suman's version is more realistic on Nanda.
How well they also composed the shots in the black and white movies, the grille shadow, the hair on the face.... and of course the expressions. The wonderful music...
@narvinnie , thanks for sharing your memories. All credits go to lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri who created such memorable gems. Click here #spsyed to find more. Thank you.
greattttttttttttttttttttttttt song with wobderful tunes n hemantda's enchanting voice besides the female voice is of great SUMAN KALYANPUR............yes lata was great but she was no less
The singing bird Hemant Kumarji is my most favourit singer. Songs like jane wo kaise, hai apna dil, lahero pe laher, ya dil ke suno, chup hain dharti, bekarar karke, na tum hame jano are really wonderfull as wonderfull his duet such as yad kia dilne, tumhe yad hoga, neend na mujko, umar huii tumse mili, rumjhum sa ye jahan, mujko tumjo mila. He is best of the best. Rip Hemant Kumarji!
Hemant Kumar's voice would better suit Guru Dutt. It just seems strange with Dev Anand, especially with how dark the movie is. And also because Waheeda Rahman and Guru Dutt are amazing together. But this is a wonderful and painful song.
EXCELLENT SONG... Thanks a lot for the upload. 1950s-to 1990s was such a beautiful time in my life. Life was so simple, everybody had ample time to walk, to mix with others & not just talk like idiots on cellphones or work like donkeys or sit in front of idiot box...I WOULD HAVE SIMPLY THIS MASTERPIECE IN MY LIFE WOULD NOT HAVE I CAME ACROSS YOUR UPLOAD. THANKS ONCE AGAIN...
just see the visual presentation of b/w cinema. it simply reflects the vision the director and cinematographer had in his mind. see the facial expression they r
so clean and clear. this are the gems from golden era. lets save it.
Such a beautiful song - in all respects - singing, lyrics and wonderful music and yet only ~38K viewers ! What a shame - 38 million viewers wouldn't be too many for a song of this class.
oh man brings back memories of me and my dad sitting on the porch and singing these songs when I was 6..yes my dad really got me interested in the old melodies from a young age
Not known you before, nor you know me yet it feels that i have found my soulmate mysterious night is silent, air still and so is the tale restless on our lips silence has its own expressions as eyes now tell what hearts feel within love has brought us together on this fateful corner we meet here leaving all else behind the yearning hearts beat in unison on this sojourn of love taking us on a journey no one knows where you dont know me nor i have known you before
Although am from the next generation from this number, without doubt, music from the 60s/70s has a melodious charm fo it's own. As for this number from 'Baat ek Raat Ki', without doubt, a favourite.
'Khamoshi sunane lagi hain dastaan', from where on earth these lyrics where conjured up and where on earth have such lyricist disappeared. What sins have we committed to be listening to 'Shut up & bounce' kind of songs I just don't know.
at that time lataji and asha ji had such a grasp on industry and every1 wanted to promote them...not only suman kalyanpur...but many other good singers culd not come up coz of thm...
This finest of masterpiece by the pride of bengal hemantada, sumanji (born in my home town Dhaka) and sachinda brings the golden days of fine music. Listening to this lovely music brings childhood memories back. Lovely and unforgettable song.

Hemant kumar was batter singer then Rafi, Mukesh and Kishore. Alas he was a victim by nasty politics of hindi cinema! In Bangla he was and is no.1.
