@bluestarslool The sensor is called a proximity sensor and what it does is that it makes it so if you go to settings and choose raise to speak for siri, then it would know when you raise the phone up ot your ear and it would automatically start siri.

Please answer this. I bought an iPhone 4S for my son yesterday for christmas. I got it from the Apple Website. When he opens it on christmas day he will not have a sim, will he still be able to use it as a device, but just not be able to call or text as of that day, I wondered this due to the message when you first set-up the phone, can you still use it just without the *phone features* :D
