Did this today and it was a breeze. Carefull, the large nut on the Fan Clutch is a 1 -17/16. I had difficulty at first trying the screw driver between the smaller bolt heads, grabbed a large set of channel locks (very large) and set the jaws around all four of the small pully bolt heads. Worked like a champ to back the fan clutch off. With everything there at your vehicle this should take about 1 hour to 1:15. This video still help me refresh memory. Thanks for posting.
good job replacing the water pump. It may be a pain but, once its all done your feel much better. Couple of questions, the water pump is it a Napa water pump or another name brand water pump? Other question do you use RTV silcone to seal the water pump to the engine or did you use a gasket only? Good job on fixing it.
you know if you go to o-Reilly's they lend you a fan clutch removal kit. i have a 99 suburban as well. and after we got the kit from them. it was easy. took about 45 minutes to do the whole thing.
@xdmatt1320 well... i kinda don't blame you... you did have to Napa like 4 times. i had everything in the shop with me. just needed to order the parts then wait. But i put in the water pump AND the thermostat in TWO hours. it was a 97 Expedition. it was a pain in the ass getting that fan off though.
@glasscity65 tried that it was stuck good and it was still cheaper to get a new part then to go to a shop be sides I did the video to show people what they mite be getting into so they mite wont to take it to a shop
