Black Rob was first heard on this album if i am not mistaken, i think Puff signed him after hearing him on the album and also Chad (one half of Cru) became one of the Hitmen (Puffy's production team)......CLASSIC UNDER RATED SLEPT ON ALBUM
@steeltownbrown52 Yeah, true. "Jewelz" along with Common's "One day it'll all make sense" ,Diamond D's "Hatred, Passions, and Infidelity" were also slept on(IMO).
@78donjon Yeah, I didn't cop "One Day It'll All Make Sense" til' Winter-early 98'. Was blown away by "Invocation" and "Hungry"(which dropped round that time). I just finished high school and started working at my first job. "Hatred,Passion and Infidelity" I copped the day of release cause I loved "Hiatus".
@steeltownbrown52 Word thats crazy bcuz I had just finished high school also and was heading off to army basic training. I copped Diamond, Common, O.C., and Busta's "Disaster Strikes" at the same time, the day before I graduated from basic training. I agree totally about "Hiatus" . To this day that beat just sucks me right in. You just inspired me to go see if I can find another copy. Im fortunate to live in an area that has a vintage hiphop spot. I just copped Jeru's 1st joint a few months bac.
I don't understand what happened with CRU. The Dirty 30 album dropped and it was hot. Then they vanished into the hip hop abyss like they never existed. Chad used to do his thing bombing out in the BX. Chad and Phamer tag team. They should have blown up!
i listen to this song every day in my car man, never get bored, gotta be one of the best beats made ever, thats when it was a art to make them beats, now i can make beats on my pc, it aint real like it used to be, anyone hear me on that?
@Topboi123 yo i agree with you 100%...beats these days use that digital instrument sound...back in the day, it was samples and real instruments....that real boom bop sound...
wow im only eighteen and unlike my friends i dont listen to the wack shit they listen to i listen to true hip-hop like this and really i feel sad for my boys knowing they dont now what true hip-hop is
hey man know exactly wot u mean except i force fed my mates some old skool beats and now ther addicted man try it out......oh and if u aint already heard of them listen to the album stress by organized konfusion, 3 2 1 is a SICK SONG!!! let us know wot u think
was it? i always wondered..i remember when this came out they hyped it up ALOT..i just never got around to gettin it..no one i knew had it either ( pre internet days..lol) Now i can hear WHATEVER i want..crazy
This album was classic but I was hearing the second was so sorry the record company never released it . But I played this until my CD was so scratched it wouldn't play anymore
Man, this is a dope O.G. track. I'm almost embarrassed to say I hadn't heard of these guys until now. I've gotta give thanks to Grandmaster Flash for playing this on his Saturday night show on Sirius/XM. It's depressing to think of the garbage that gets passed off as "hip-hop" these days and somehow finds success. With the exception of a few old heads still in the game, and even fewer newcomers out there, nobody's making music anymore for the fans of true school hip-hop.
Im only 15 and id reither listen to real music like this i listen to rakim krs one early nas reasonable doubt and joints like this this is the real music "rap" now a days is the worst ish i ever heard in my 15 years in the sun
I heard this on Power 939 out of Wichita, Kansas on the radio. It was freakin DOPE. Seriously took me like 3 years to find out who actually did the song and have been burning this song on Tons of burned CD mixes i own now...prolly since 2000/2001.....
I remember hearing this in 1997, but I never caught who did the song. It took me 10 years ('07) to find who made this song, and it was only because Consequence used the beat for "Disperse"! I love this song.
