meatloaf's fans can't accept the fact that celine sang "is nothing sacred anymore" "and it's all coming back to me now" before meatloaf. celine's was a demo for Let's Talk About Love 1998, meatloaf released this song at 1999 so she recorded it first, stop trolling around and get your facts straight, it's jim steinman choice afterall

Good, bad, personal taste, who's version is better..... no of that matters. She's amazing and has an incredible voice. There are few singers that can do what she does. That in and of itself is enough. I'd like to hear "you" sing it better.

Just listened to Meatloaf & Patty Russo's duet of this song but my vote goes to Ms. Celine. The duet sounds good but I didn't like the end part when Meatloaf was singing with the choir...his voice just blended in with the choir you couldn't hear him at all & he sounded like he had a hard time reaching the note. However, this version is so much POWERFUL & how Celine controls the notes is pretty mind-blowing!!!

I don't understand why people always compare artists. Of course, Celine's version will have a different sound coz her voice is different & her style of singing is different. So all these comparing is just RIDICULOUS!!! Just be glad that we are privileged to listen to an AMAZING voice like Celine's. If they all sound the same, it would be pretty boring, wouldn't it?

This is nice enough, but it doesn't have the raw power of Meat Loaf and Patti Russo's version. In this one Dion sounds like she keeps trying to rock out, but neither her voice nor the music are suited to it.  Personal taste, I guess.

@TheCelineDionChannel I heard the whole song. As I stated, it's not bad; and it may have blown you away, but not me. And it means absolutely nothing to me that she is an icon. I know how famous she is. Lady Gaga is famous, too, but I still think she's a freak. Not that Dion is, but my point is that someone's fame is never in itself a reason to like them. Finally, you and I must differ in our definitions of "rock" music.

@doctor Im just confused after reading your comment..I still dont get how meatloafs version came across as more powerful but to each his own i guess.. Before headbangers came out spitting blood and sticking out their tongue with raging electric guitars ...rock icons were pretty simple people. If Roxette ,Joan Jett even Heart could be considered Rockers ...Why not Celine? They all sang ballads .

I have listened to both versions. I say both are different and I enjoyed listening to both versions. I must state that I disagree with your comment that "In this one Dion sounds like she keeps trying to rock out, but neither her voice nor the music are suited to it". Celine Dion approaches this song differently from Meatloaf. She is an artist and this is her interpretation of the song. It has nothing got to do with being "suited".

Meat Loaf voice is of a lower register than Celine's. His voice is also less powerful. But overall, his version has seemingly more impact as it is a full released version while this is only a demo. So with the impactful orchestra music in his version, of course his is better. But if you were to focus just on the singing voice, I think Celine is a much better singer.

Celine Dion record this as demo in 1998, but she had some kind of a thing about wanting the writers to pay a fee to have her sing their songs, which was chickenshit of her, if you ask me. Jim Steinman didn't want to pay, so he turn-around and produced the song for Meat Loaf's Very Best Of.

J Steinman gave up the rights to other songs sung by Celine to avoid collecting additional royalties should the album over sell expectations. MJ and Elvis does the same , They all buy the rights to their songs. SONYbmg, didnt think the song was suitable for the LTAL album and it was cut from the final take.

Heck if I got a voice like Celine I would definitely do the same. Actors aren't no different. Actually Celine recorded it first as a demo but she decided not to use it on her album. And the song was left out in the final cut.

Then meatloaf took the song and added his voice to it.
