Is it me or does ANY series that comes out of Japan required to have a token "gay villan"? For One Piece it was Bon Clay, for Naruto it was Deidara, for Code Geass it was that douche with the white hair and glasses, for Bleach it was Luppi, and for Final Fantasy its Kuja!
I just wish they played his trance theme music, I think it's awesome! They played one wing angel for Sephiroth, why couldn't they give Kuja his epic theme song!?
Personally, I'd love for Kuja to be a character in a KH game. Just to have a mage who's actually dangerous to Sora, and not just a swordsman like Sephiroth, Cloud, Squall, Riku, Xemnas, etc. Vivi is really more of a background character. If Zidane and Kuja were in it, that would be great. Kuja is tied with Sephiroth and Kefka for my favorite FF villain.
But, of course, parents would protest to Kuja's look. Damned overhyped moms...
@MrDoomydude Even so, I'd still love for Kuja to be in KH. They don't have enough FFIX characters (only Vivi, and he wasn't really all that big in a sense). FFVII has Cloud, Tifa, Yuffie, Aerith, Cid and Sephiroth. FF VIII has Squall, Selphie, Setzer, Fujin and Raijin. FFX has Tidus, Yuna, Paine, Rikku and Wakka.
@UndecidedRPGplayer i know they realy need to get some new ff chars maybe a few clasics like golbez or firion and cecil would fit in perfectly with his light/dark powers and ofcourse kuja would be badass.

I mean I like Cloud and Sephiroth as much as the next guy but what about poor cecil. Oh and on the Final Fantasy VII lineup you forgot Zack in Birth by Sleep

Wow, just comparing his JPN voice to this, his ENG voice is awful! He needs to be deeper, alluring, almost sensual. That's how Kuja should sound: a voice of velvet. He sounds....I dunno, nasally here. It's irritating.

the kuja I know in FF9 has an aura of mystery and pure elegance.. but here in dissidia, frankly, to me he looks kinda ridiculous especially when you hear his stereotypical effeminate voice. even the other villains are mocking him and his schemes are shallow. that's not the kuja I know!
I think they messed kuja.. w/ the choice of his voice it's nothing more than stereotypical. and his speeches that refer to music and drama.. I was expecting something classy of him but not exaggerated.. well that's just me.
and also, since when did kuja learn to fly? wasn't he only able to do that in his trance form? or perhaps this kuja was taken during the time where he already achieved his trance state.
Good voice, but it's...missing something. It needs a little more punch in it, with a boom and a little bang, you know? He has a great laugh but...it needs more.
I've maxed all characters in dissidia (lvl100 and all of them hav good attacks),but I've always hated being hit by kuja's ultima attack. lol, guess i wasn't much of a good evader.Oh well, hope u guys\gals enjoy this game as much as i did.
I personally had a perception of Kuja's voice to be calmer, soft-spoken, and mature. It personally likes Zidane's voice. It fits him to me. But to each his own.
I'm still a little iffy with his voice. I was expecting something more like Genesis' voice. A manly sounding voice, but quite elegant nonetheless. This voice needs a little getting used to.
Kuja's voice acting while not stellar certainly isn't horrible. In fact considering the abysmal voice direction he received, I'm amazed it turned out as well as it did. The voice director gave him no insight into Kuja's character and essentially told him to mimic the Japanese performance and to sound breathy and feminine. So if you want to blame someone, blame the voice director not the voice actor.
You know, at first I wasn't impressed with J.D. Cullum's performance here. But, the more one listens to something, the less critical they become. Even growing to like it more and more. Now, I think it's somewhat fitting (except the death cry. Sounds too much like Silver the Hedgehog to be honest. Could be more of a cracked sound, and then a somewhat long AUGH! afterwards).
I actually feel that way with Jidane's voice here more than Kuja's actor's performance...but yes, the more you listen to some things, especially voices, the more you become accustomed to them.
Seraphic Star sounds a lot cooler than Holy star. Also, now I won't be too hesitant about using ultima now that u can move around (or move into it 4 protection). Even thou that's how is, I don't like how his voice sounds like he's holding his nose
Was anyone else expecting them to use Quinton Flynn for Kuja's voice? For some reason I just thought they'd go well together. He'd always done an excellent job with Reno and somehow I pictured them sounding similar.
The difference between Kuja and Genesis though is cosmetic and mental. Kuja is self-absorbed and dresses in elegant clothing and loves himself.
Genesis views himself as a hero deserving of praise and wears a red trenchcoat (red is considered a heroic color in Japan).
Just because they recite poems a lot, doesn't mean they are the same. Their methods of speech are similar, but that doesn't make them similar characters either.
LOL, I've never said they are the same characters. Kuja is Kuja and Genesis is Genesis. And they are very similiar, just because they aren't 1:1 the same it doesn't mean they don't have important characteristics which the other one has as well.
I'm all for evil gay antagonists but his voice is just bad... You can make him sound effeminate without making him seem completely lame.

Kuja - his was the worst. He sounds like a 16 year old snot. It's almost as bad as Vaan from FFXII.

C'mon the guy is a villain , regardless of the ideas we could have had about his voice.
I was specting something more like The Emperor, within its certain proportion. Or like CMBeast09 said, that would have been a more suiting voice.

I've maxed all characters in dissidia (lvl100 and all of them hav good attacks),but I've always hated being hit by kuja's ultima attack. lol, guess i wasn't much of a good evader.Oh well, hope u guys\gals enjoy this game as much as i did.

I personally had a perception of Kuja's voice to be calmer, soft-spoken, and mature. It personally likes Zidane's voice. It fits him to me. But to each his own.

I'm still a little iffy with his voice. I was expecting something more like Genesis' voice. A manly sounding voice, but quite elegant nonetheless. This voice needs a little getting used to.

I also wasn't expecting Squall's voice to be so deep.
In fact, they could have used Cloud's voice actor for Squall and it would have worked perfectly.

Kuja's voice acting while not stellar certainly isn't horrible. In fact considering the abysmal voice direction he received, I'm amazed it turned out as well as it did. The voice director gave him no insight into Kuja's character and essentially told him to mimic the Japanese performance and to sound breathy and feminine. So if you want to blame someone, blame the voice director not the voice actor.

You know, at first I wasn't impressed with J.D. Cullum's performance here. But, the more one listens to something, the less critical they become. Even growing to like it more and more. Now, I think it's somewhat fitting (except the death cry. Sounds too much like Silver the Hedgehog to be honest. Could be more of a cracked sound, and then a somewhat long AUGH! afterwards).

I actually feel that way with Jidane's voice here more than Kuja's actor's performance...but yes, the more you listen to some things, especially voices, the more you become accustomed to them.

Seraphic Star sounds a lot cooler than Holy star. Also, now I won't be too hesitant about using ultima now that u can move around (or move into it 4 protection). Even thou that's how is, I don't like how his voice sounds like he's holding his nose

Was anyone else expecting them to use Quinton Flynn for Kuja's voice? For some reason I just thought they'd go well together. He'd always done an excellent job with Reno and somehow I pictured them sounding similar.

The difference between Kuja and Genesis though is cosmetic and mental. Kuja is self-absorbed and dresses in elegant clothing and loves himself.
Genesis views himself as a hero deserving of praise and wears a red trenchcoat (red is considered a heroic color in Japan).
Just because they recite poems a lot, doesn't mean they are the same. Their methods of speech are similar, but that doesn't make them similar characters either.

LOL, I've never said they are the same characters. Kuja is Kuja and Genesis is Genesis. And they are very similiar, just because they aren't 1:1 the same it doesn't mean they don't have important characteristics which the other one has as well.
