What is the best wide angle lens for my D3100?

That's like asking an author, "what's the best pen to write good stories?"... It depends on what you plan to use it, what's your budget, what you need and don't need, etc.. Take a look around this channel, there are a couple of wide angle lenses for you to do researching on.

Thanks for the video review: you just saved me a ton of money! It's a good thing i resisted the "confirm bid" button at ebay for this lens.

We don't know? How about renting it out for a week or two to see if it suits you or not? Just remember this lens won't auto focus on your D3000.

Sorry, we cannot recommend anything but take a look at Zoom and Prime playlists; there are a lot of high quality wide angle lenses that you can choose from. If you like one or two, rent them out for a week or two to see which one suits you the best.

The only drawback of this lens is it has not filter to protect the lens as it is a dome lens.

Um, low budget, okay, but this lens is pretty much a useless $1,700+ lens. A good choice would be the 14-24mm.
