  • Fuck you Fred, fuck you.

  • hell yah speak the truth

  • Every lyric is a riddle, I love how FTM's music can mean something different to every person. To me, this song represents a chapter of my life that I've closed, burned for a little while because of and now I have risen. It smells like disaster, it looks like a trap, so go by the wayside and never look back. Two perspectives, the lyrics at the end of this video are wrong. It's supposed to be: It smells like disaster, take your lies and scram! And go by the wayside, and never look back. <3

  • i swear this band has helped me through so much its ridiculous <3 i loves them :D

  • music thats truly on the fray, just the way i like it............

  • FTM FTW

  • What is this song about?

  • Damn, this band is just awesome. My new favorite in awhile.

  • @makemebad35

Dude, you have great taste in music. These guys are genius. Darroh goes crazy on stage and they're just as amazing live. You should seriously see them when you get the chance.

  • @XsinisterbowX I really want to see them live now! I got their new CD and just loved it. So I went and bought their Fables CD too and enjoy it just as much. They are my new favorite right now!

  • @makemebad35 I saw them just before they released their new CD. Scale the Summit opened for them. Darroh got wasted and still managed to dance like he does in Musical Chairs. I wish I had seen them a bit later so I could have caught some of their new stuff, but it was still amazing.

  • @XsinisterbowX Fag.

  • @TheCovenant4 Giraffe.

  • Damn. Some music just speaks to you. And Fair To Midland does that in volumes.

  • Is this song about chess or is it just me getting that impression?

From "And reap the rewards of proximity" and ofcourse alotta other lines in the lyrics making me assume this?

  • @A1Zebra The beauty of FtM is that the lyrics can be pretty much what you want them to be. Chess game? Sure, if fits the lyrics. Especially the chorus. I can imagine a queen being set up in a trap by the opponent.

  • The got a Mars Volta Influence in them For sureeee! Great Band.

  • I just took a crap and it smelled like disaster and it reminded me of this song =)

  • this is the song that made me like this band. i hope to see them in spain some day

  • 1 person is deaf

  • @hoobalogginmedia And nobody cares about your shitty pseudomeme.

  • Mos def one of my favorite songs by dear old FTM! Darroh holding ANY note= jizz in my pants

  • so much emotion displayed in the vocals...

  • I love FTM! There isn't any good music out there, anyone have any suggestions? If you could be so kind as to point me in the right direction i'd be happy to return the favor. Thanks.

  • @dan52484 Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Scale the Summit, and Between the Buried and Me. Just as suggestions, if you don't know em already.

  • @monkeymagoo47 Thanks! Check out He is legend (the seduction album) and also a band called "animals as leaders".

  • @dan52484 I do like Animals as Leaders, but I shall look up that other thing. Thanks!

  • @dan52484 Yeah He is Legend is absolutely incredible just like these guys. More of a southern proggy sound to them.

  • Listen to the song "spanish sahara" by the band "foals". Not same kind of music at all but it's so soft and calm. Perfect for falling asleep to!

  • Tell me how many bands sound like these guys? None. Beacause their just that awesome, orginal and badass!

  • Man. I fookin love this song.

  • Not only does this band have one of the most unique sounds and singing style, their lyrics are extremely clever and well written... it actually means something. Definitely god tier in my book. Live on Fair To Midland.

  • Music is dead. FTM is alive.

  • i bought this cd 3 years ago. i have been watching this band come up for years. they are from my city. im glad they are getting noticed. they truly deserve it. darroh sudderth is the fucking man. my cousin knows him.

  • I may be mistaken? but it is my assumption that the lyrics should read: "You've gone through ghost towns set on PAWS." Makes more sense to me than Pause. Thoughts anyone? Are there lyrics in the album itself being that i personally haven't owned an actual CD in many years!

  • @PoppyBird02 Nah, I think set on pause makes more sense, because in a ghost town nothing moves, just like a video or song set on pause. Y'know what I'm trying to say? It's referring to the ghost town, not "you". I can see where you're coming from though :P

  • @PoppyBird02 Damned homophones. LOL.

In any case, you might be right, though I can't really see how one would make more sense than the other.

  • @orphaeus99 it's actually.. "You've gone through ghost towns settle past," ; )

  • @silenc3x nah man, nah

  • @PoppyBird02 Pause makes a lot more sense to me. A Ghost Town Set On Pause, as in frozen or stopped midway. Just imagine walking through a town with a bunch of ghosts frozen doing menial everyday tasks. :D

  • Nah, it's pause. Paws would make no sense at all

  • @PoppyBird02 I think it'd be pause. Like it's a movie on pause.

  • @PoppyBird02 It's pause, man.

  • @PoppyBird02 FTM lyrics making sense? more like a whole lot of proverbs and philosophical statements.

  • @PoppyBird02 I got "You've gone through ghost towns settle past"

  • @PoppyBird02

Though that was a good thought. It is supposed to be 'pause' ghost towns set on pause, as if they havent changed since the day they became that way.

  • @PoppyBird02 no it''s def 'pause'

  • @PoppyBird02 I believe "...towns set on pause...." Makes much more sense if you were to think about it. Read the lyris and then look at the song as a whole, and 'pause' will make much more sense than 'paws'

  • @PoppyBird02 I know exactly what you mean. It might just be me, but I've always felt for the song Quince that the line "Your crimes are not mine or theres, weary from the the wear you invent" is actually "Your crimes are not minor, theres weary from the wear you invent."

  • @PoppyBird02 set on pause is a way of saying 'has remained the same for all the this time' it's a ghost town that time hasn't touched. a very folklorist play on words.

  • @PoppyBird02 its set on pause, as if everything is still, nothing happening... hence, ghost town.

  • @PoppyBird02

I'm pretty sure it's "pause". They're ghost towns because everything has stopped. They're set on pause and nothing is happening anymore. That's how I would read it, anyway.

  • @PoppyBird02 How does "Ghost towns set on paws" make any sense? It is "Pause". It's a ghost town so it's like everyone just left the place like it was and vanished. Making things look like they are paused.

  • @the0US0marine wolves... paws...

  • @123unknownsoldier126 Ghost town. Pause.

  • @the0US0marine you may be right, but i think it's paws because "set on" can also mean that you are walking on paws or feet, and because of the title.

  • @123unknownsoldier126 lyricsmode com/lyrics/f/fair_to_midland/a_wolf_descends_upon_the_spanish_sahara.html

  • @the0US0marine hey i'm not saying you're wrong... i'm just saying thats my interpritation of it.

  • @123unknownsoldier126 almost none of the titles have actually anything to do with the songs, they are ciphered titles of paintings Darroh saw in a gallery.

  • @123unknownsoldier126 also; if you look at it in context not as a single sentence, it's pretty obvious that it's "pause". after all the song is about a man who has isolated himself from his past (hence the burning bridge). it's not literal, the ghost towns are cherished places from his old life he left behind that haven't changed (set on pause) when "going through" them in his mind. look at the meaning not just at the words.

  • @the0US0marine Yeah... I think it's paws too. It makes more sense to me.

  • @PoppyBird02 It is actually pause. As in the whole ghost town has been paused.

  • I Love this band! They dare to use intelligent lyrics in a time where kids could care less about understanding the true meaning behind songs. Kids want to hear their Lady Ga Ga and Justin Beiber, but this band has boldly set out to show how music should be done! GO FTM!

  • @teenelmo26 oo rah. i completely agree, even though i'm a kid i hate lady gaga and all this modern stuff, i look out for the old, uncommon or just damn right beautiful songs such as this.

  • @teenelmo26 I am a kid of this generation, yet I could give less than a thought to the music pouring out of the media. Fair to Midland kicks ass and the new autotuned music is just a disgrace. I just wanted you to know that kids of this generation listen to good music, too. :D

  • @teenelmo26 I'm not a complete fan of Enter Shikari (Experimental hardcore, yet folky) but you should at least READ, Just read the lyrics to "arguing with thermometers"

And Bright Eyes, check out all of his songs, I'm a big fan:)

  • My personal Fav by FTM at the moment..Fuckin LOOOVEEE this song... Its amazing in all phases

  • @Tool78Maynard this is a good one, but my favorite is Vice/Versa, I've been listening to it non-stop for hours haha

  • @larry52333

Yes thats a great song as well..I got through phases of what songs attract me daily..lol Its a mood thing I guess

  • I'm a chick. But, yeah, whatever.

  • Beautiful energy married to undiluted lyrical vision. Why I love Fair to Midland? They don't dumb down their shit, they insist on instrumentally rocking out. Thanks, Orphaeus99, for demonstrating impeccable taste.

  • @OverUnderneath You're quite welcome, my good man.

  • @OverUnderneath i conqure indeed
