It's lens refraction. Basically because there is such a bright point of light going into the camera, the lens can't channel it perfectly, it's just an optical illusion. I was filming some fireworks once and you can see 'ghosts' of the fireworks at the opposite end of the image. It's just the lens.
There seem to be wierd movements of the camera when it exploded though.

what ?? its not the bigest in the world . that is like bullshit like the fireworks we have in malta . thats like shit. and we can see fire works every weekend not one in a year
The second shot there is THE biggest shell ever. It's 4 feet wide and needs a 20 ft. tube dug 17 ft. down in the ground, a crane and a full crew to operate. The explosion in it self covers as the woman says in the video 407 diameters making it sickly huge! Btw in Japan they have about 1000 festivals a year about 300 of them includes fireworks..
The second shell cost over $4500 to make and took over a year to build. it was a 44 inch- kimo silver tailed 64 thunder/crackle breaks w/ gold palms. very nice shell!

hey, atleast you seem to have ones which work ;D we commonly get our mortal shells which jump up 5-10 meters, then drop down, its a good thing we are fast runners o.o
Time the difference between when the light from the shell burst hits the eye and the sound of the burst hits the ear (about 1.5 seconds) and multiply by the speed of sound (roughly 350 meters/second) to get 525 meters, which is about a third of a mile. The launching mortar will be a little closer to the camera than this due to the elevation of the shell.
Lol If you spend all your money on that one shell ... and lightning ruins your day xD

this is insane dude !

Exactly! You can tell by how slow it's moving, when smaller ones burst really quickly because they are only about 200m away or so.
