  • I must point out, from my experiences you don't seem that different then a average guy, but everyone will have problems I suppose. Thanks for the video. VERY inspirational. Normally some of these videos dealing with this subject are too blurry or swerve way off course or keep a narrow path neglecting others in similar situations, but this was made to include everyone. I wish I found this video MUCH much sooner then now.

  • why diont you hang yourself

  • You've saved so many lives just by making this video. Thank you soooo much.

  • beautiful, thank you :O)

  • Rest assured that I disliked this video because you are such a tool, not because of gay rights.

  • @MrKittensandPuppies And that makes it better how?

  • It makes me sad that you are fighting for this cause. You're making homophobes hate gay people more because you're such an asshole.

  • not to be redundant, but very good video...hope you saved a life.

  • Adam ... thank you. I'm so glad you're still here. I teared up a bit at the end. *HUGS*

    - Jason

  • This was such a great video. I cried at the end.

  • I'd like to know how someone could UNLIKE this video. Meh.

  • thats the flippin sweetest video intro my eyes have ever beheld !

  • Excellent video. Difficult topics and emotional sharing but thank you for every word!!!

  • Anyway...(how have I managed to take up three comments worth commenting on this video...)

Thank you for telling us your story Adam. <3 *HUGS* You matter! I'm really glad you stayed with us <3 I would miss your fedora-ed self and your ability to keep me up on TinyChat until like 7 in the morning, and how you act like a drunk when you haven't slept.

    ^_^

  • *continued* Where were you that you look like you're in heaven? It's all white and shiny.

I think I'm going to make a video talking about my best friend Izzy who actually switched schools in Grade 10 'cause he was being tormented so badly at our highschool. I always felt awful 'cause I always felt like maybe if I'd done more he would have stayed. I mean, he was much happier at the new school, which was generally more accepting of that sort of thing but...I missed him.

  • Did you buy a new fedora just for this?

I feel like I used to use 'gay' as an indication of something bad when I was younger and decided that was okay because my best friend, who was gay, used it, so therefore... I don't anymore, but now I used 'retarded' which probably isn't much better. *sigh*

Although now that my vocabulary has grown I'm more likely to say something is idiotic or inane than retarded...

I feel like I used way too much commenting space for this.

  • damn that was Gaaaay

  • @3uk ... That's the point?

  • I've been trying to figure out how to articulate some thoughts in my head, and you just nailed it.

I think some people hear the word bully and think of those who get in your face, or beat you up. But a more subtle form of bullying...using words (even unintentionally)... can be even more hurtful.

I wish I could get some of my conservative Christian friends to understand that when they say "love the sinner, hate the sin", that doesn't feel like love to the gay person, it feels hurtful.

  • You took the words right out of my mouth. Thank you for this amazing video.

  • Awwwww *hugs*

  • Moving and thought-provoking video - thanks. So great to see so many Youtubers, straight and gay, supporting the LGBTQ community.

  • This actually works out, today being Spirit Day, as Thom asked me in his video today what my guidance/mantra/motto is that keeps me going. I have a feeling he didn't know it was #SpiritDay and his question just so happens to work with the subject matter of tomorrow's video.

Anyway, that had nothign to do with this video, just felt like "talking" to someone.

BTW I went to all of my collab/spare channels and thumbed-up this vid lol.

  • Adam, you nearly made me cry. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this. I know it makes a difference, I only wish I had seen these sorts of vidoes when I was a teenager

  • I have to be honest, I almost cried watching this. Beautiful video Adam.

  • Adam nothing can be said but to say you are right on everything in this vid well done :)

  • wenever i have been closer to suicide i have considered using suicide resorces or counceling would be taking resorces away from more diserving cases(wasting the time/resorces of others involved if you will) not to mention worring those around me, and the naging thoght that i am just blowing things out of preportion in my head. i have the same sort of isues wen i am unsurtain about medical problems(not wanting to wast medical personels time/effort for something that was posibly nothing).

  • @NeilSonOfNorbert Everyone is a deserving case, including you. It's very easy, and very dangerous, to think that your pain isn't as bad as others, that there are people suffering more than you. But when you are suffering, you need help. Everybody needs help, at least sometimes. Please never think that you aren't deserving of the resources and help available. Use them. Avoiding help when you need it doesn't help anyone, because everyone else is saying the same thing to themselves.

  • You're hat is made out of Fur Felt... I can tell... Who made it?

  • @SarahNeedsJob I don' t know. It's a second-hand hat that I got for free as a prize in a chalk drawing contest. As was the purple coat.

  • @AdamTheAlien You are a lucky, lucky person!!!

    -M

  • what an amazingly beautiful video, adam.

    i am literally in awe.

  • @octollama Thank you. :)

  • Liked and favorited, Adam. This made me cry. You are an amazing person and my experience on YouTube, nay, everywhere, would have been a bit different (and not in a good way).

There were a couple of times last year that I wanted to commit suicide, the latter being around Christmas/New Year's. I think I've tweeted about it, you might have noticed. You might have not.

I wasn't bullied. I was attacked by fear and a sense of worthlessness. The whole "I've wasted my life and gone nowhere" feeling.

  • @zottepark I still see that as bullying, after a fashion. We're our own worst bullies...which is why we REALLY don't need anyone else doing it for us.

  • @AdamTheAlien And how! I completely agree. Dude, we have to talk sometime, either on phone/Skype or email. I'm going to be at a friend's wedding June 25th next year and I'll be in Issaquah, WA, which isn't so far away from Tacoma, if you catch my drift.

  • @zottepark If you dare to come through Washington and we don't hang out, I shall be quite upset with you. :-P

  • Adam this is absolutely beautifully put. <3 Totally gave me chills. In the good way.

I truly hope someone who needs to see this... sees it.

  • @CleverestWitch2188 Thank you, and I hope the same. It's very difficult to make videos like this, as it tends to bring up old feelings which makes it hard to be coherent about the things I'm trying to convey (especially as, while I keep meaning to write a script for videos like this, I never do and just start talking about the issue direct to camera). But I think all the issues at point here are important and NEED to be discussed. Bullying, homophobia, suicide, depression, ALL of it.

  • @AdamTheAlien As hard as this kind of stuff is to talk about (especially if you know what it feels like to go through it) it needs to be discussed. I absolutely agree.

I think you did it very very well. I commend you on your ability to talk about it, when I, myself, couldn't. <3

  • Great video! I'm rockin' as much purple as I can!

  • @MichelleTells Thanks! And rock that purple! I'm glad I recently won the coat, and that Shannon left her scarf behind, because all of my other purple clothing got claimed by my little sister along with any other clothes I forgot to move out of the house with me. :-D

  • I disagree with the "gay = lame" sentiment, i think it's just evolution of language/slang and does not always mean/is not always intended as a serious insult, but I get what you're saying that people do misuse it and overuse it and should perhaps rethink their word choices in certain contexts. Other than that.. nice vid, man. :-)

  • @lilmissnerdfighter I know that language changes. After all, "gay" used to mean "happy", not "homosexual" (odd contrast, considering the topic of the day is homosexual suicides). But in this case, the language hasn't wholly changed. Many people use "gay" in a negative form who are wholly accepting of LGBTQ peers don't realize that the word entered their vocabulary most likely due to a friend or a relative who IS homophobic. As to the rest, and your compliment, thank you!

  • Lets change the world.

  • @BassofNathan Yes!

  • Excellently put and heartfelt. Well done Adam

  • @columthealmighty Thank you.
