Hi lordosaya :-) I was at this gasshuku -- isn't Seino sensei amazing. I decided his happy approach - combined with his use of verbal sound effects while training - made him come across like some sort of Japanese aikido version of the Swedish Chef from the muppets... lost count of how many times he came past, threw me a few times making noises like "oooooOOO! o hohohoho"
hi Vonster, haha i've never really watched the Muppets before, so i'll just have to take you word for it! but he was really really funny wasn't he? i couldn't help but get drawn in by his humour and cheery nature while training. =)
where do you normally train btw? will you be attending any other gasshukus in the next few months?
hihi :-) I usually train at Balmain. I'm really hoping to get to the Yasuyuki Suzuki Sensei gasshuku in September - I'll find out if it fits in with uni soon. *fingers crossed*
The sensei looks like he's having SOOO much fun! Thanks very much for your talks on Aikido - most helpful. I start my first real class (at a dojo as compared to a class at the college I go to) on May 5th, '09.
spot on mate! he is such a happy person. he was literally laughing heartily throughout the three days of the workshop especially when throwing people around or demonstrating a technique. i look forward to the day when i find the way to have such a happy aikido. ;)
TwoDonkeys, that's the best description that I've come across. I'll let that sit with me for a while and hopefully infuse into my practice. Thank you for the insight and wonderful comments.
that doesn´t look like it would work if the partner tries not to follow your moves

correct - this was an 'ukemi' exercise. i wasn't "attacking" him. in this specific scenario, 'ukemi' means a rolling exercise for me.

hey cool. a few of your Balmain guys came down to our gasshuku in Tasmania a couple of months back. did you join them?
i've already bought flight tickets to go over in Sept for Yasu-sensei's seminar. hope to see you there? ;)

It's looking less and less likely as I draw near the date, I'm afraid - - I have to prioritise uni over gasshuku unfortunately. =(
post some vids tho if you can!

I was thinking the same thing. He looks like a happy parent, pushing a kid on a swing. What fun.
heartywhistler - I started Aikido classes on May 5th, '09 too. Enjoying the journey so far.
Osaya - Thank you for your videos. Very inspiring.
