  • @constipated

Thank you very much for the translation.

  • Yes. this is especially for Parent with teens...don't need to speak too much...the child understand.

  • bad translation

  • this song still makes me cry...so beautiful

  • this song grabs me by the troat everytime again!! i always have to cry in the song, i'm a sucker for this kind of songs because i can let my emotions run wild.

  • Whats wrong with you people, i was 16 when i heard for the first time this song "Anak" i didn't understand the song but the melodie was so hart touching that i never forget this song, now after many years i understand the meanning of the song, why fighting about lyrics, do listen to the song and don't give bad commence, because if you can do better than show us.

  • THANK FOR TRANSLATE

  • Even thought the English version does not capture what the original song intend to say, am usually in tears every time I hear this song, such a beautiful song, well sung by the singer too.......

  • @Debbie1628 - True.... does anyone know a filipino version where it shows real english subtitles?

  • nice song

  • boring

  • Comment removed

  • This song is just so heart touching

  • Good song,父母心聲。

  • My beautiful wife is Filipina, i love Freddie and Asin, mabuhay ang Pilipinas pag-ibig mo i Mindanao

  • If you believe or not... as i heard the song and read the lyrics, the tears were running. My father died two years ago and my mother one year ago. Because of bad circumstances i had not the opportunity to see my parents before they died. This song text is so true...

  • hey this song is a world wide hit..proud to be pinoy

  • When i first listened to this song, I was around 20, I did not have much feelings for the lyrics, now, I am really touched by the song, as a parent, i do every thing i can for my children. I'm touched by the lyrics. It's amazing that different ages have different perspectives.

  • KAYO NALANG KAYA MAG COMPOST

  • @crazynhor COMPOST talaga ha? baka COMPOSE??

  • @nynacale hahaha oo nga pala s0ry poh

  • @crazynhor ano toh composting? plant ba eto haha

  • well... no matter that song is english or tagalog it carries the message. Why to insist the literal one if you feel its words enough?

  • All the meaning and the translations are the same beautiful meaning whose complaining? this meaning first time I heard I cried you know why I remember my kids,Hope someday they will understand for what I am doing , oh I remember something wait....

  • I don't see why all of you are complaining that the translation isn't accurate. What do you expect? The no. of syllables per line in English would be from the no. of syllables in Filipino . If they translated it accurately the tune would have to be different.

  • The words bring tears . . . .

  • YOU WERE TO THEM A SPECIAL CHILD....tang ina pag-iisipan ako ng parents ko na special child ako titirahin ko talaga...

  • i hope there's a genius person out there who could translate this perfectly

  • the Filipino version was better,I mean you can feel more the message of the song in Filipino version....

    the translation was kinda wrong..

    the original was really heartbreaking..

I feel like crying whenever I listen to this song....

  • yes the translation was wrong, its not supposed to be exactly like the Tagalog version, if it was the exact translation it wouldn't sound right. Its the English version not English translation.

  • the translator was wrong!!! im a filipino and they dont have the same meaning!

  • thumbs up if you think the translation was completely wrong.... the original version was realy heartbreaking...

  • 我们国家的周云蓬也唱过,很不错,我现在听原唱

  • I love this song I am happy to be a Filipino.

  • this song totally broke my heart.though it didnt capture the soul of the original version, yet its beautiful and heartbreaking.

  • not all lyrics is translated... some of the heart breaking lyrics were not translated

  • found it, just watched it, Koperpool has the exact original lyrics translated in english. For those wanting to understand the tagalog lyrics, that's the exact english translation.

  • the english version is ok lang...siguro nga mas ok kung ginaya ang lyrics agree ako jan kay constipated...

when you were born into this world

you gave so much joy to your parents

    their nurture is your light

your parents always in a worry

even watches you as you sleep.....

something to that effect, now if only that would rhyme. Iba kasi sa Tagalog, nanunuot.

  • i like this video it reminds of me when i was not on my mind

  • I like the melody very touching

  • I lik

  • The song wasn't translated very well...The Tagalog version is still the BEST...

  • i broke into tears for my forgiveness

  • i am not a good child for my mom and dad but this made me feel about my parents and i cried for forgiveness for what i did to my parents

  • the original lyrics is way way more meaningful than this

  • the original can be translated in many different ways depending on the perspective of the translator who interprets the song the way he/she looks at it. some translate it in a sort of "religious' point of view.

  • i don't understand tagalog but i like the philippino version much better, the english version just doesn't fit properly.

  • maybe some persons disliked this song for they believe it is not "translated" the way it should be. I am Filipino. I know the great difference between the original song and the translated version's lyrics. It's far different. Too far...

  • This song reminds my Mom and dad with coming of tears through from eyes .

  • this song is soo touching.

  • who the hell could dislike this?! they sure don't get the song.

this song made me break down in tears , just like everyone who understood. :)

  • This song became an international hit, and was translated into 26 languages.

  • the colors hurt my eyes, *_*

  • Who would ever dislike this song? One of the best song EVER!

  • i just realized how much my parents love me..

  • i really think that this version was not able to capture the soul of the song. The Filipino version is more heartbreaking. I think a literal translation would be good. let it me try the first stanza:

"oh how happy your parents were when you were born

and their arms were your light

Your parents didn't know what to do

that they even watch you while you sleep

At night your mom stayed late just to prepare your milk/

and in the morning, you'll find yourself on your father's lap who's proud 2hav u

  • @constipated My Vietnamese neighbour introduced me to this song. And I loved it, but I get what you're saying. I'm a french guy so I tried to explain the song "Je Suis Malade" by Serge Lama... same battle... I hear ya... You just can't translate cultural emotion.

  • @constipated Please go on with your translation!!!! Please!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @philipjobo will do. here: (con't 2nd stanza) "Now that you've grown, you long for your independence

Your parents might not want it, but they cant do anything about it.

You then suddenly changed and became stubborn, you started to disobey them.

You didnt even realize that what they're doing is for your own good

Coz what you want is to do your way, you disregard them...

  • @constipated ThanX a lot! Maybe it would be nice to post the tranlation as comment at the origanal version.

I love the sound of the language the way Freddie sings it, it slightly reminds me of the language of my father, Bahasa Malayu. This laguage is diaspering slowly as it was spoken mostly by Indo-Europeans in former Dutch -East Indies and in Indonisia they now prefer to speak modern Indonesian. The word anak means the same in both languages.

  • @constipated i agree that the english translation did not capture the warm message of the song. Your translation is more touching and it captures the soul of the lyrics than what is presented on the video.

  • @constipated i agree with you

the tagalog version is way more heartbreaking, they should of pick the right translation so other would understand wht the message of the song really is. (message mostly to teenagers... lol)

  • @constipated you are right, any song is always better in the original langauge. But it was nice for me to get the basic idea of the lyrics. As far as the melody I always loved it....just be happy it can be shared (just like alot of english songs...)

  • although your stanza were the same to our tagalog version (ANAK) we didnt know their english version were heartbreaker to them...(:

  • @constipated I like how you worded it. Maybe you can translate the entire song. :)

  • 2nd stanza: "Now that you've grown, you long for your independence

Your parents might not want it, but they cant do anything about it.

You then suddenly changed and became stubborn, you started to disobey them.

You didnt even realize that what they're doing is for your own good

Coz what you want is to do your way, you don't take notice of them...

  • 3rd stanza: "Days passed and you've gone astray

You got addicted to an illegal vice

The first person you went to see was your weeping mother and then she asked

"my child what happened to you?"

without you noticing, you are already in tears"

regret is what you feel and you realized you've made a mistake (repeat until fade)"

Pardon my direct translation. i hope I gave justice to the song.

  • I cried like a baby listening to the lyrics of the song in this English version, reminding me my parents and all people who love me.

  • yes i cried too, often its tooo late

  • beautiful

  • Love this song very very much. Was my favorite song Many years ago. Very good song to remind the children to appreciate their parents.

  • indeed Beutifull reflaction in the song

real live story applicable to every time

    thanks

  • It seems to reflect to our own life someday

  • I did as well

  • Should be "if they must see you live"

  • So true...I'm speechless...WoW Beutifull.

  • what a wonderful number...si si

  • Inilah lagu terbest sekali dalam Bahasa Malaysia, English dan Taglog! Bapa saya suka lagu ini! :D

  • @Spacer1964 shut up! or I'll permanently introduce your head into your colon! asshole!

  • @seconds2death YOU!!!! WATCH YOURBIG ASS MOUTH!!!!! U CANT UNDERSTAND THIS SONG CAUSE U DONT HAVE RED HEART U DON'T REALIZE HOW UR PARENTS MAKE U GROW AND BE SMARTER I WISH YOU WOULD READ THIS!!!!!!!!

  • Such a pretty song

  • @narapang6666 not cool dude... ur not getting any thumbs up for that

  • today is the 1st time I heard this, it was sent to me in the original version and I'm glad there is a translation. A beautiful song that means more as you become older

  • Sorry but these are some very corny lyrics...this song was originally written in Tagalog and it should stay in Tagalog where it is beautiful. This English version is awful in my opinion.

  • @Honky3 sanay ka lang talaga dun sa tagalog. Ako rin napangitan eh.

  • aw..sikat na pala tayo! haha.. may version na! :D

  • @robzzzz7 hindi ikAw yung sikat. yung kanta..

  • And after that night, everytime i was on drugs and heard this song, i always felt so sad and in tears, thinking of my parents. And i have to admit, this song changed my life, made my life turnaround. I got off from drugs and alcohol. Thanks Ka Freddie . . .

  • i met Freddie at Bodega (warehouse) Folk House before he sang Anak at Metro Pop Song Festival, and he sang this song that night and he even said "It's illegal for me to sing this song, but, i will sing it anyway, and he did, the first time i ever heard it, i said to myself, WOW . . this is going to be a hit. I said it because at that time i was a drug addict, i was 22, and i can really feel every word of it

  • i was feeling ok untill

"to see you through, and god its true, they'd die for you if they must, to see you here"

thats the part that hit me

  • เช้าวันหนึ่งมีคนพบศพขี้เมานอนตาย อยู่ที่ใต้สะพานลอย

  • the original Filipino version is still the best, though this is nice.. the message of the song in Filipino makes you more tearful..

  • i cry everytime i read this 'anak' lyric... i miss my parents so much... mom n dad.. i love u....

  • This is a very emotional song. It is the responsibility of the parents to see their children grew up because one day they too will die for them to see their children get through their lives.

  • This song touches my heart.

  • The Reycards also has a funny English version of "Anak".

  • I dont think parents would want their child as " special child " .... lots of responsibilities he might become a president, ordinary child will do.. he he he don't get angry with me it's a joke.. happy holidays people... peace on earth... Ka freddie is a great artist.... he should compose more songs like this it connects directly to the soul.... : > )

  • i really enjoyed listening to this song either english or tagalog version ,,,everytime ,,my tears pouring ,,, very emotional ,,, like it very much.

  • I heard it 1st time by tape cassette almost 20 years ago intacalog version and I dont' understand the meaning but I like the rhythm, and now I found the meaning in Eng.version. Thank you for posting and sharing!!!

  • i met my husband here in singapore and there is a time that i am playing guitar singing the anak and he heard the song and he said i like the english version of that song,he told to me the story that he heard the song in malaysia when he attended a wedding party and that is 1987...and he told to me that he dont know the singer of the song and i told to him that that is our one and only freddie aguilar in philippines...poor my husband he cried if he heard that song because he loves it so much..

  • beautiful., I wish I could buy something of him

  • It has a clear message that can be shared

  • This song is a legend.

  • The son leave the father right???Can somebody tell me the story...I want to know..

  • @arfiend not father his parents! this is a true to life story by freddie aguilar. i watching freddie in bar gig here in the philippines!!! wow

  • Wow. I commented on the original Tagalog version with a statement something like - the song is so beautiful that you don't need to understand the words... - the English version (this is hard to explain, but it is pretty much the same as what the music makes you feel - even if you don't understand Tagalog) says it all.

  • @BluezGuitarz Philippines is the music capital in asia!

  • @gerasapusoko You are right - I just wish we could get more of your music here in America.

  • @BluezGuitarz I think this music ANAK top 4 and MAGDALENA is top 5 in amarican billboard mid 80`s!!! But im not sure

  • @gerasapusoko it is also the crime capital in asia!

  • i never knew this song has english version

  • @naturalbeaful this song has been translated to 20 or more languages, if im not mistaken

  • This Song Broke Me Into Tears♥

  • @kirtana9867 yeah right

  • @kirtana9867

yes,it bursted me too into tears, but it was when i was listening to the original tagalog version :)

  • @kirtana9867 you are right, this version didnt capture what the original song intend to say. its just a song with "ANAK" as its melody, its not the english version.

  • First time I heard the English version. Beautifully done.

  • @MrEriesal Me too! My dad used to play this song on his 8 track back in the day... take care! =) Smile!!

  • I heart this song first time in the Hobbit house in Manila.

    Since this time...I love it.

I is a good memory for all of us

  • hehe well the translation isn't great, but it doesn't matter so much if you consider it a new song entirely....it is still a nice song, but the pilipino version is much better.

  • sorri this version iz gud but i rather listen to tagalog version iz sounded more meaningful

  • wow, i can't believe there are 9 fukwits in this world

  • This is a wonderful inspirational song by Freddie, does anyone know how I can get an english cd of it? thanks

  • ♥hanep naman to ohhhh..tsk tsk galing talaga!!♣

  • Parang super layo nung translation from Filipino to English ah.

  • @natashaheisenburg tama, pero pwede na rin..

  • @natashaheisenburg Not really.

  • MGA ANAK, PAKINGGAN NYO ITO!!!!!!!!

  • gets na gets ko ang song

  • The right translation for ANAK is CHILD. SON is anak na lalaki. So, get it right. Moreover, the Tagalog Version did not specify any gender. It could be intended for a son or a daughter. Just because it has mentioned about getting into bad habits does not necessarily mean that it's a song to a son. That's stereotyping. Women get into some deep shit, too.

  • Hi Folks, I loved this tune so much that I' ve made an german version

    called " My World" ( Meine Welt ) RHK1981

    Redwanderer

  • perfect song

  • i love this song since my school time it revised me so many memories

  • I love the music and lyric both in English and Tagalog

  • Comment removed

  • i been listening to this song for years now.recently i lost my mum & it makes me cry & cry listening to it. How great mother's love is. im willing to exchange my 20 years life for her to stay by my side for just 2 years. i miss her so much.............

  • It's a real truth song for ever.

  • @Spacer1964 i dont care

  • I like the Filipino version better... these words were just made to give rhymes

My translation of the Filipino version:

when you were born in to this world

Great joy your parents have felt

and their hands became your light

and your mother and your father

did not know what to do Watching over you even while you slept

and at night your mother stays up late to make your milk

And in the morning your on your father's lap who's very fond of you.....

And now you're all grown up

  • @ohfushyou they need to adjust some lyrics..but it has same message dont worry.

  • You wanted to be free Even though they didn't agree they can't do anything You trully did suddenly changed You became hard-headed And you disobeyed their advice You never even thought that what they're doing is all for you Because your will wasto get what you wanted, you ignored them Days went by, and your path became astray You were swallowed deep into vices And the first person you went to was your crying mother She asked "my child, why have you become like this?"
  • And your eyes began to tear, without you noticing

Regretting, and in your mind you knew that you made a mistake....x4

  • Even till today, Once in a while I'll youtube this song to just soothe myself. As we grow up, sometimes we just don't appreciate.

  • @Aryynaa u were juz 100% right...we forgot sometimes...

  • @Aryynaa

I agree. We just never take the time to stop and think it.

  • anak ng titing... akala ko ba ayaw mo ng english songs? bakit naging enlish ang Anak? Kulang lang pala sa pansin si ka freddie. pwee! unggoy din pala...

  • @ondoyaquino bobo mo tanga, binili yung pilipino song para i redition sa ibat ibang language...

  • @cescagag002 hindi ako tanga. aware nga ako eh. bakit kailangan siraan kapwa pinoy? sa media pa? dont you think about it? kung may pride si freddie dapat di nya rin pinayagan i translate sa other language. if you insist, then i would say kagaya mo rin si ka freddie. OFW ako, what advice you can give to me to make our country prosper? Kailangan ba makipagmatigasan ako dahil pinoy ako? bobo nga siguro ako at least inaamin ko. Pero ikaw ano ba nagawa mo para sa ating bayan? Ingat...

  • hindi-ko-yo-de-kio
