  • @ tapeake and hnewton48 (or something like that) thats a realy stupid conversation because neither of you will give way.

  • I dont care about all the other crap, i just know that this is a very good tune played by the master himself Ian Anderson.

  • @jethrotull151 And the guys in the band... Andy, Doane, and Martin on this track. No bass player, if I recall my liner notes from years back.

  • @tapkae Or you could get a job and make your own money instead of protesting against the people who provide you with pretty much everything you own. :\

  • @emarah10 I don't think you get it. It is not "theirs" to give or take away. The resources of the world were given to all people.

  • @tapkae This song is no such thing. It was written years ago before the 1/99 percent idea ever existed. Go spin your politics somewhere else.

  • @HNewton48 What you mean is that this song was written before the Occupy movement existed and gave name to the 1/99 percent matter. There are plenty of other ways wealth disparity and the accompanying attitudes has been articulated in songs/lit/movies. And this song is written from a perspective favorable to the less advantaged, and critical of those who hold more advantage and aren't responsible about it.

  • @tapkae What I mean is the song was written from the perspective of the author counseling another individual on their poor and negative attitude at Christmas. 34 years ago. It is not reflective of today. You can't apply the antics or actions of the song's individual to the antics or actions of wall street occupiers as a comparison.

  • @HNewton48 By that logic, the Bible or even Chuck Dickens has no relevance today. Which is a nonsensical idea since those and many other works are donated to humanity to shape our consciousness for all time. Or, if you like, then the US constitution could be deemed irrelevant today since it was written without knowledge of what is happening today. We call songs timeless because they speak to us seemingly at any point. And really, wealth disparity has been around as long as "civilization."

  • Wow, I really like this remake. A lot better even than the original, which is one of my favorites. They made one of the best christmas albums.

  • my favourite jethro tull song
