The lion set there long enough to concentrate its scent in the immediate vicinity...it did not even need much of a breeze...the leopard must have caught the scent and knowing it was approaching a bush big enough to conceal its enemy....it stood there to try to get a glimpse of it........that is really a level of thought I didn't realize leopards had...much more surprising, the lion knew it was figured, so it went for its option before the leopard makes a run for it.

The dodging technique is a MASTERPIECE, the distance the lion closed in was quickly cancelled by a quick backward fake move, this directed the lion speed/momentum just enough ..then the leopard cut sharp towards the tree ..using its smaller size as advantage (smaller cats can make a sharper cut than bigger ones)....Gazelles have this similar move which evolved to dodge Cheetahs and for most part it works.. Cats instinctively practice this moves while they are still kittens/cubs..

Ok r u people stupid or something saying that the leopard would've gotten killed. Come on it's a leopard and it's way faster than a lion or a lioness it can outrun them because of his long body and super strong shoulders. Not to mention stamina and their speed varies between 45-55 mph where lion is only up to 40 mph. And yes it's also faster than a mountain lion.
