@death153278 "smarts" in this context is merely a term subject to your own opinion. The only people who withdraw from arguments are people who are either wrong, and unwilling to admit it, or people who are too unskillful in argumentation to persuade the other that he is right. Fact. religion is a thing to corrupt the human mind and basicly religion is war. most wars are to do with rivalries in religion. and what proof is there that the so called ''almighty god or allah'' exists? point proven.
@2727rickyd pardon for replying. But even though we have no scientific or facts to prove existence of some Divine power with big hands in the sky. We cant just blame religion for wars.. there are Politic, Religion, Race and culture War.. the thing is.. to be straight forward.
Very beautiful and inspirational, I can see a knight leaving his village with great zeal to take up arms for Christ, however once he is in the holy land after seeing many battles he laments all the bloodshed with his foes who probably felt the compelled with zeal as he was back in his village, only desiring to return home and live in peace...
Pffft... Islamic and Christian rivalry is such a bother. And none of them see that orders of the governments was the real threat, now and back then. Killing eachother won't serve God/ Allah either ways.
@pqwilrj It might be their fault, the Zionists (or whatever they call themselves). Though it is still our leaders fault for joining, what the Zions, call war. Whenever western nations join a war, it is no longer war, it is slaughter.
@Bidmartinlo sadly, western, and middle eastern leaders cannot see that. a sad sight. But hopefully in the end, we could all just get along like we should've from the beggining.
Just remember people have the ability to cherry pick history to support their conclusions, and make up all these little rationalizations for why they are right. Something like that is incredibly easy to do, so maybe you need a healthy does of relativism.
why is everyone saying that this song is about fighting? i see this song as a wish for war to end, 'we are all one' there is no point in killing other people because in the end, we all come from the same beginning
mechanussunrise: and one more thing, el cid was not a mercenary. He was a honorable castilian knight who was betrayed by an envious king. Before he was forced into exile, he won many battles against the moors. He was always a good christian. He only battles against other christian lords reluctantly. And when christian Spain was in danger, with the invasion of the almoravids, el Cid returned to help his king. Wah you mouth before talking about Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar.
@mechanussunrise and what about the Granada massacre of 1006? and the expulsion of jews by the Almohades in the 12th century? Surely jews had hard times in christian lands, but unlike muslims we have progressed. And where have jews prospered more? in Europe and America? or in Iran and Saudi Arabia?
@theliberator1 I disagree, there are beyond doubt some people who have asked themselves this, after seen through a siege, perhaps 2, or who have killed childeren, because they were raised different, and tagged along an army because the men wanted them...err near.
@Smoshgirl28 Surprise, Surprise! The Polish invented the siege tower and were also some of the first to copy the mongols siege equipment if i might add.
Are we sure the lyrics are "face the evil knight" and not "face the evil night"? I got the impression that it was about fighting darkness, not a knight in armor.
You do not yet comprehend your place in things. You will regret your resistance, you cannot stop us. Your destiny is written in stone. You fight against inevitability. Dust striking against cosmic winds, this sounds as victory to you. You are vermin. Know this as you die in vain, your time will come, your civilisations will fall. The forces of the universe bend to me, and now you stand alone...
@hardcore0893 Oh I did yes I did I thought how I charged a unit of heavy cavalry into a poor unit of archers and how they fled o' how how they fled ah good times.
The medieval period is mostly about the complete collapse and lack of centralized government in which one saw the rise of various warlords in societies that had an almost total lack of organized social institutions.Disease, poverty, famine, lawlessness extreme superstitions. The Crusades were so massive in scale because people literally saw the hand of God in everything.God punished not just in the next life but right now.People were miserable because an alien race of pagans had taken the Holy Land.
I can imagine crusaders and arabs armoring themselves for the crusades and jihads they'll fight... damn I wish I had my pc back and play that game again..... and shogun 2
I love the total war series, specially the music. But this song goes absolutely against the medieval spirit. Unless by "We are all one", it refers to christian Europe. Otherwise, its PC propaganda.
@1999521 i disagree i think its about the soldiers before the battle they are all alone waiting to kill each other... you know... im not sure but thats how i understand it
@dAKarkoloAb Listen carefully to the lyrics. This song is clearly about a women whose husband is going to fight the muslims in the Crusades. "fight for God"(crusade) , "evil knight" (muslim warrior), "their own truth" (islamic religion). I think this is the most probable explanation.
And the idea medieval europeans thought muslims as equals, as people just like them, is wrong. Both cultures saw each other as mortal enemies . The medieval psyche (christian or muslim) was not multicultural.
@veidar9 This song is sung by a european women, so I doubt he refers crusaders as "evil knights". The fact she uses the concept of knight, whcih was typical of european society, gives you that impression.
@1999521 How do you know the woman is European? She could be Muslim or neutral. And another thing - the Muslims didn't have knights. There were Arab Mamleukes and Turkish Spahii but those weren't knights. I think that "The evil knight" in this song refers to the Crusaders because they were rapers, murderers, bandits and pirates who slaughtered innocent people and not only Muslims but thousands of Christians as well.
@veidar9 The "I know you fight for God, and you believe it's right. To risk your home, your life to face the evil knight." already gives it away that she's European. Muslims did not call their God in that name.
@snaiperis99 Most Christians didn't call their god that name either, only later English speaking ones. Most spoke other languages with different words like 'deus'. Muslim word or Christian word- its just a matter of whether you translate it into English. The song is in English because the audience is English, not because its a historically accurate version of the language spoken by a particular faction in the game.
@veidar9 It´s obvious she´s european. Look at the game, most factions are european, most of the map is in Europe. Playable factions from the beginning are european. Knowing the CA she´s probably english.
And I know there were no knights in muslim lands (read my last message again). But "evil knight" is a metaphor for the muslim warriors.
And knowing all the politically correct propaganda of today, it´s most probable that the women is european.
@Muffinfordinner I have the fucking right to say what I want, whenever I want. My complaint was fair, and most of the poeple understood it. It´s a historical game and I don´t want modern thinking and political propaganda in game about the middle ages.
@1999521 Between Europe and the Muslim Middle East that may be largely true but in the Middle East and in Spain the Muslims, Christians and Jews were often allied and more sympathetic with each other than with the foreign crusaders. Multiculturalism is is new, but only because the idea of culture is new and the idea that cultures are separate and bound to religion or government is a product of 18th and 19th century Europe.
@mechanussunrise Bingo!! I knew someone would say that :) You know, it´s a myth that jew and christians were better off in the islamic world. They were just as bad, and in some cases even worse. Even the muslim chroniclers of the crusades state the crusaders( famous for their·"cruelty and intolerance") were fairer than the tyrannical islamic rulers.
@1999521 Could you point me to your source-a book or peer-reviewed article by an academic historian? Which Muslim chroniclers? Jews lived in Spain when it was partially controlled by Muslims. In the 15th century the Spanish inquisition systematically tortured and executed the most Jews in Spain-many fled to the Ottoman Empire where they were welcomed with open arms. Dante spent a long time as a guest in a Muslim court in Spain. El Cid was a Christian mercenary for a Muslim court.
@mechanussunrise The works of Bat Yeor and Robert Spencer, for instance? And there´s a channel in youtube named "RealCrusadeHistory". He only uses islamic chroniclers like Ibn Munqid, and even Amin Maalouf recongnised crusades government was better.
The spanish inquisition persecuted false converts, and jews were offered to convert to christianity, and many did it. What can you tell me of the massacres and espulsion of Muhamad commited againt the arabian jews? cont..
Well, it's possible but given that medieval factions generally claimed divine support for nearly every conflict, including successional ones (which ties neatly into the concept of rule by Divine Right), it hardly needs to be the Crusades. Another easy example would be the attempted Spanish invasion of England after they split from the Catholic Church. The song fits war in general rather than specific most easily.
@SweetSinFZ Yes, and I know what muslims did to prisoners and civilians in the whole middle east, what the moors did in Spain, France and Sicily, and what the turks did in the balkans. And I know what muslims do TODAY.
And I also know what they never did, like, creating a succesful country?
@1999521 if u read ur history correctly ull realize that muslims were once superpowers...they were the most multicultural and least racist ....a fact evident because the islamic religion spread like wildfire everywhere and in every race...succeful country retard?! Spain was ruled for 140 years india was ruled for 200+ ...the ottamans ..and there are many examples...dont think you can just give examples of modern countries..ur so called modern age is 20 years old
@farhanabdulrahim1 one problem with your theory, islam spread because it was forced on the people, either they convert or else they had to pay some tax or maybe even worse, not exactly successful...
@rometotalwarviper Not exactly....U see muslims have to pay a special tax called zakat which is considered necessary for muslims.....for non muslims under muslim rule the concept of JIZYA was introduced to make the taxation even on both people....Now heres the funny thing non muslims paid less tax because Jizya was rate was fixed and was much much lower zakat.....and people were never forced to convert to islam.....there is an entire surah in quran dictating the muslims to accpet others
@farhanabdulrahim1 thats funny, because i heard that the quran said to make war on unbelievers, until they were all muslims, the cause for the expansion of islam
@rometotalwarviper Thats not true...the words used in quran signify to war on the miscreants or those who harbor ill will towards the muslim not non muslims..a sentence from an entire paragraph can never truly portray the entire meaning of the text.....And there is nothing in quran about expansion
@farhanabdulrahim1 i didnt say that the quran talked about expansion, i said that the quran says to make all unbelievers muslim, which caused the expansion of islam
@rometotalwarviper oh cmon! Dont take someone elses word check it out yourself please! and the correct wording in quran goes on these lines; make war on them till they want to stop then if they ask for amnesty you forgive them and take them to the place of peace and safety....
@rometotalwarviper and about the expansion ... on the contrary many great historians agree that islam spread because of no persecution of other religions.....why do you think people still remain muslim after the aggressors left? The british sent chritisan missionaries across india , malaysia indonesia why couldnt they convince the people to convert? and why is that islam being much younger then chritianity and other religions rapidly expanding and catching up?
@farhanabdulrahim1 hmm lets see...about ppl remaining muslim, not too easy to convert when you are threathened by death if you do, and rapidly expanding, when men take that many women as wives, all the children that are born from a single family, how can it not expand?
@rometotalwarviper Actually u can stop being a muslim .. the death penealty is when u start abusing ur faith to others...if u cahnge ur fiath quietly then nobody cares and nobody gives a shit.....4 wives thing is pretty old....I dont think it happens outside saudi.....the multiple marrying thing was actually reserved for special cases such as during wars many males die and also the fact that female survive more than males....but my point was new people accepting islam
@farhanabdulrahim1 Just killed Osama what 3/4 months ago and he had 4 wives that he never let even set foot on the 1st floor of the building they were to remain on the 2nd floor. And you say that the 4 wives thing is old? And who quietly changes faith, If you changeing from a faith where you gather with thousands of others to touch your head on a blanket people will notice if you are not there. Islam; I feel the same about that religion as my for-fathers did when they went on that bloody crusade
@MrFaed Okay u have some points ....but osama was an exception look at majority of the muslims in the world(outside the saudis ofcourse) most have only 1 wife........and about the congregational prayers...i have freinds who havent prayed with a congreation in there entire life.. u can pray alone...and nobody notices anything because most people dont really care...the only problem occurs when u go to a guy and start saying shit about their faith..its like abusing ones mother
@MrFaed Wow, so you think all muslims are bad?! Really?! You just cant blame over 1 bilion people for history... You are in general a bad person if you think like that! Let me think of an example... ohh i got one HITLER!!! He managed to kill milions becouse of that he blamed religion. Its sick that you say: I feel the same about that religion as my for-fathers did when they went on that bloody crusade
@1999521 Sure it's not set during the modern day? The Modern soldier fights for 'god, queen and country', the evil knight is just what it meant back then - the Muslim warriors. Their own truth, the Islamic religion to some extent and more the Anti-west sentiment. This would explain why the woman would see the Muslims as equal, as we do in the modern day.
@hazem3007 It wasn't ment as an insult. it is an explanation to the song. he doesn't say he looks to you that way nobody said that. we are all ONE! i'm a soldier and fought in the middle east. but i still see moslims as my fellow brothers. because if we would stand united.there would be no sarvation or war
"if we would stand united.there would be no sarvation or war"
Let me interrrupt you here. Why didn't you stay back at home then? Why did you go to fight? If you are mentally and physically strong to use violence, NOT using your force makes you the strongest amongst people. Plus: You wrote you see moslims as your fellow brothers. This is good. But did you mourn their deads after a military operation? I rush to add: I don't want to insult you.
@1999521 Hence why it never plays during the game. It plays in the credits. It's a counterpoint to the medieval attitude presented in the game. What exactly are you complaining about?
@TaintedMustard My complain is that this song, with a message of multiculturalism and equality, is anti-medieval. Chrsitians and muslims were mortal enemies, and they never thought their counterparts as "equals" (particularly the muslims). This are modern ideals hardly anyone in the middle ages (or the ancient world for that matter) considered. That is post Enlightenment, not medieval.
the song is great, but who the fuck is singing, the producers daughter?

Fact. religion is a thing to corrupt the human mind and basicly religion is war. most wars are to do with rivalries in religion. and what proof is there that the so called ''almighty god or allah'' exists? point proven.

Things we learn from books dont start war..
We start wars.. Us. Humans.

@pqwilrj It might be their fault, the Zionists (or whatever they call themselves). Though it is still our leaders fault for joining, what the Zions, call war. Whenever western nations join a war, it is no longer war, it is slaughter.
I guess we should do something about that.

Just remember people have the ability to cherry pick history to support their conclusions, and make up all these little rationalizations for why they are right. Something like that is incredibly easy to do, so maybe you need a healthy does of relativism.
Apocolypse786 7 months ago
why is everyone saying that this song is about fighting? i see this song as a wish for war to end, 'we are all one' there is no point in killing other people because in the end, we all come from the same beginning

I still think the song's about facing the evil "night", not "knight". It seems to me that it's about fighting for your beliefs.

MrGatonegroish 11 months ago
The medieval period is mostly about the complete collapse and lack of centralized government in which one saw the rise of various warlords in societies that had an almost total lack of organized social institutions.Disease, poverty, famine, lawlessness extreme superstitions. The Crusades were so massive in scale because people literally saw the hand of God in everything.God punished not just in the next life but right now.People were miserable because an alien race of pagans had taken the Holy Land.

@1999521 i disagree i think its about the soldiers before the battle they are all alone waiting to kill each other... you know... im not sure but thats how i understand it
dAKarkoloAb 1 year ago
@dAKarkoloAb Listen carefully to the lyrics. This song is clearly about a women whose husband is going to fight the muslims in the Crusades. "fight for God"(crusade) , "evil knight" (muslim warrior), "their own truth" (islamic religion). I think this is the most probable explanation.
And the idea medieval europeans thought muslims as equals, as people just like them, is wrong. Both cultures saw each other as mortal enemies . The medieval psyche (christian or muslim) was not multicultural.

@1999521 The Evil Knight is more likely to be the crusader.
veidar9 9 months ago
@veidar9 said the muslim
Zanator1 9 months ago
@veidar9 This song is sung by a european women, so I doubt he refers crusaders as "evil knights". The fact she uses the concept of knight, whcih was typical of european society, gives you that impression.
1999521 9 months ago
@1999521 How do you know the woman is European? She could be Muslim or neutral. And another thing - the Muslims didn't have knights. There were Arab Mamleukes and Turkish Spahii but those weren't knights. I think that "The evil knight" in this song refers to the Crusaders because they were rapers, murderers, bandits and pirates who slaughtered innocent people and not only Muslims but thousands of Christians as well.
veidar9 9 months ago
@veidar9 The "I know you fight for God, and you believe it's right. To risk your home, your life to face the evil knight." already gives it away that she's European. Muslims did not call their God in that name.
snaiperis99 9 months ago
@snaiperis99 Most Christians didn't call their god that name either, only later English speaking ones. Most spoke other languages with different words like 'deus'. Muslim word or Christian word- its just a matter of whether you translate it into English. The song is in English because the audience is English, not because its a historically accurate version of the language spoken by a particular faction in the game.
mechanussunrise 8 months ago
@mechanussunrise Good point. I guess you're right then.
snaiperis99 8 months ago
@veidar9 It´s obvious she´s european. Look at the game, most factions are european, most of the map is in Europe. Playable factions from the beginning are european. Knowing the CA she´s probably english.
And I know there were no knights in muslim lands (read my last message again). But "evil knight" is a metaphor for the muslim warriors.
And knowing all the politically correct propaganda of today, it´s most probable that the women is european.
1999521 9 months ago
@1999521
You don't know who the woman is in the song. It's an unknown female voice. You are an imbecile for arguing about it.
Muffinfordinner 9 months ago
@Muffinfordinner I have the fucking right to say what I want, whenever I want. My complaint was fair, and most of the poeple understood it. It´s a historical game and I don´t want modern thinking and political propaganda in game about the middle ages.
1999521 9 months ago
@1999521 Between Europe and the Muslim Middle East that may be largely true but in the Middle East and in Spain the Muslims, Christians and Jews were often allied and more sympathetic with each other than with the foreign crusaders. Multiculturalism is is new, but only because the idea of culture is new and the idea that cultures are separate and bound to religion or government is a product of 18th and 19th century Europe.
mechanussunrise 8 months ago
@mechanussunrise Bingo!! I knew someone would say that :) You know, it´s a myth that jew and christians were better off in the islamic world. They were just as bad, and in some cases even worse. Even the muslim chroniclers of the crusades state the crusaders( famous for their·"cruelty and intolerance") were fairer than the tyrannical islamic rulers.
1999521 8 months ago
@1999521 Could you point me to your source-a book or peer-reviewed article by an academic historian? Which Muslim chroniclers? Jews lived in Spain when it was partially controlled by Muslims. In the 15th century the Spanish inquisition systematically tortured and executed the most Jews in Spain-many fled to the Ottoman Empire where they were welcomed with open arms. Dante spent a long time as a guest in a Muslim court in Spain. El Cid was a Christian mercenary for a Muslim court.
mechanussunrise 8 months ago
@mechanussunrise The works of Bat Yeor and Robert Spencer, for instance? And there´s a channel in youtube named "RealCrusadeHistory". He only uses islamic chroniclers like Ibn Munqid, and even Amin Maalouf recongnised crusades government was better.
The spanish inquisition persecuted false converts, and jews were offered to convert to christianity, and many did it. What can you tell me of the massacres and espulsion of Muhamad commited againt the arabian jews? cont..
1999521 8 months ago
@1999521
The song fits war in general rather than specific most easily.

farhanabdulrahim1 7 months ago
@farhanabdulrahim1 one problem with your theory, islam spread because it was forced on the people, either they convert or else they had to pay some tax or maybe even worse, not exactly successful...
rometotalwarviper 7 months ago
@rometotalwarviper Not exactly....U see muslims have to pay a special tax called zakat which is considered necessary for muslims.....for non muslims under muslim rule the concept of JIZYA was introduced to make the taxation even on both people....Now heres the funny thing non muslims paid less tax because Jizya was rate was fixed and was much much lower zakat.....and people were never forced to convert to islam.....there is an entire surah in quran dictating the muslims to accpet others
farhanabdulrahim1 7 months ago
@farhanabdulrahim1 thats funny, because i heard that the quran said to make war on unbelievers, until they were all muslims, the cause for the expansion of islam
rometotalwarviper 7 months ago
@rometotalwarviper Thats not true...the words used in quran signify to war on the miscreants or those who harbor ill will towards the muslim not non muslims..a sentence from an entire paragraph can never truly portray the entire meaning of the text.....And there is nothing in quran about expansion
farhanabdulrahim1 7 months ago
@farhanabdulrahim1 i didnt say that the quran talked about expansion, i said that the quran says to make all unbelievers muslim, which caused the expansion of islam
rometotalwarviper 7 months ago
@rometotalwarviper oh cmon! Dont take someone elses word check it out yourself please! and the correct wording in quran goes on these lines; make war on them till they want to stop then if they ask for amnesty you forgive them and take them to the place of peace and safety....
farhanabdulrahim1 7 months ago
@rometotalwarviper and about the expansion ... on the contrary many great historians agree that islam spread because of no persecution of other religions.....why do you think people still remain muslim after the aggressors left? The british sent chritisan missionaries across india , malaysia indonesia why couldnt they convince the people to convert? and why is that islam being much younger then chritianity and other religions rapidly expanding and catching up?
farhanabdulrahim1 7 months ago
@farhanabdulrahim1 hmm lets see...about ppl remaining muslim, not too easy to convert when you are threathened by death if you do, and rapidly expanding, when men take that many women as wives, all the children that are born from a single family, how can it not expand?
rometotalwarviper 7 months ago
@rometotalwarviper Actually u can stop being a muslim .. the death penealty is when u start abusing ur faith to others...if u cahnge ur fiath quietly then nobody cares and nobody gives a shit.....4 wives thing is pretty old....I dont think it happens outside saudi.....the multiple marrying thing was actually reserved for special cases such as during wars many males die and also the fact that female survive more than males....but my point was new people accepting islam
farhanabdulrahim1 7 months ago
@farhanabdulrahim1 Just killed Osama what 3/4 months ago and he had 4 wives that he never let even set foot on the 1st floor of the building they were to remain on the 2nd floor. And you say that the 4 wives thing is old? And who quietly changes faith, If you changeing from a faith where you gather with thousands of others to touch your head on a blanket people will notice if you are not there. Islam; I feel the same about that religion as my for-fathers did when they went on that bloody crusade
MrFaed 7 months ago
@MrFaed Okay u have some points ....but osama was an exception look at majority of the muslims in the world(outside the saudis ofcourse) most have only 1 wife........and about the congregational prayers...i have freinds who havent prayed with a congreation in there entire life.. u can pray alone...and nobody notices anything because most people dont really care...the only problem occurs when u go to a guy and start saying shit about their faith..its like abusing ones mother
farhanabdulrahim1 7 months ago
@MrFaed Wow, so you think all muslims are bad?! Really?! You just cant blame over 1 bilion people for history... You are in general a bad person if you think like that! Its sick that you say: I feel the same about that religion as my for-fathers did when they went on that bloody crusade
adol314 4 months ago
@1999521 Sure it's not set during the modern day? The Modern soldier fights for 'god, queen and country', the evil knight is just what it meant back then - the Muslim warriors. Their own truth, the Islamic religion to some extent and more the Anti-west sentiment. This would explain why the woman would see the Muslims as equal, as we do in the modern day.

@1999521 Hence why it never plays during the game. It plays in the credits. It's a counterpoint to the medieval attitude presented in the game. What exactly are you complaining about?
TaintedMustard 11 months ago
@TaintedMustard My complain is that this song, with a message of multiculturalism and equality, is anti-medieval. Chrsitians and muslims were mortal enemies, and they never thought their counterparts as "equals" (particularly the muslims). This are modern ideals hardly anyone in the middle ages (or the ancient world for that matter) considered. That is post Enlightenment, not medieval.
