How is the sound? I've been looking at Genesis clones lately and a lot of them have a lot of distorted/scratchy sound or awkward pitch. I doubt I'll be getting any though, since my Genesis works fine and I plan on getting a Retro Duo soon. ;)
@BaconStein This follows the same sort. I think the Gen-X has the same chip set as other clones. It's been awhile since I played and for reasons already mentioned I can't really test it. Overall if you want decent sound get a actual Genesis.
@BaconStein Well, the dead majority of NES and G/MD clones always have the PAL timing patched in. In case with NES clones, however, it's not exactly like on the originals...

I'm afraid I just paid the price for being cheap. After I got Ducktales on the NES, my controllers stopped working. Damn, oh well, I guess I have to do this the right way and start hunting for NES and Genesis consoles.
Thankfully I found a few places on the net that actually sell replacement controllers so one of these days I'll get around to ordering them and i'll be back in business
what i really want someone to do is to comepare the original sega genesis to the gen-x because my orig.genesis controllers suck really bad and to save space should i get this!!!
I will do that sooner or later, as I can't find any reviews of the Gen-X actually showing gameplay footage compared to original hardware. The Genesis side is quite good, but has some sound issues. The NES side, not so much. I will be comparing the Gen-X to these units:
Front-loader NES
Model 1 Genesis
Model 2 Genesis
Model 3 Genesis
There are differences between each model of the Genesis, so I might as well test the games on every Genesis model.
Okay review but I don't agree with what you said about hardcore gamers staying away.. it's the opposite for me. I love old school gaming and I would love to have the original consoles but sadly they work less and less these days.. these consoles are new and will last alot longer. I have an FC Twin and it's amazing.

Got that for Christmas. Plays Genesis REALLY good. NES... If it weren't for the freaking A and B mix up; it would be WAAAAY better

the gn twin is pretty much the same thing. as a genesis its 4/5 as an nes its a 1/5 if that. i did a video review of it.

Yes, it's a used videogame, movie, music store in the St.Louis Area. The one I mentioned is in O'Fallon Illinois next to the Wal-mart Supercenter.

I don't think it can play european mega drive games. It can play the japanese games by a switch in the back of the unit.
