We need foreigners in order to sustain our population and maintain a healthy workforce and dependents ratio. We need foreigners to do the jobs that Singaporeans are not willing to do. We also need foreigners to share their expertise on areas that we need help in.
Foreigners drive our population up and our prices of houses and cars sky high. They flood our shopping centres, MRTs and buses. How do we strike the right balance? We're limited by our land and resources. Perhaps I should migrate.
I sincerely appreciate what Mr Tan had said, but history had told us of good example men like 刘备,岳飞,屈原,and so on.All end up no good.Lucky Mr Tan didn't win,at least he can relax his life at home play with dog and watch fishes in the pond..He can go oversea to jalan jalan also good for him, cheers Mr Tan....
Even when the overseas counts returned. it was just as negligeable and forgettable.
tony tan's win was just OVER 113? HOW OUTSTANDING IS THAT??
I can almost predict 2016 will mark an incredible PE takeover, when more savvy voters here, esp from NS turning 21 yrs n above, and those Overseas voters (this group too) who become more aware and connected thru the internet
see things in wider scope.my father want me to work in the farm which i die die don want.thk to the foreigners who take up this job.LKY is right.WISE MAN.
We singaporeans are deprived, 2nd choiced, we are cheaper now, foreigners better?! Foreigners are not cheap??! How can we be discomfort at their expense??! How can we cannot be helped?!? Then how we are compensated in all the inconvenience and sacrifices?!? Maybe LKY can go into our own shoes and do an undercover boss to see, hear and feel for himself, it's excruciating and humiliation for us as singaporeans , so embarrassing and belittle our own selves
You are right! Heard of a mum who has to switch to working shift in another dept in order stay on the job due to competition from foreign "talent" who has the same qualification as her.
though i would very much believe that what u said is what exactly the ground sentiment is about i would still not vote for you as PE because of your PAP association which i still believe u are their PLAN B.
your justification on the hiring criteria on FT will still not robust WITHOUT the immigration quota to be stipulated because hiring will still be at the mercy of the hirer.
Dr cheng bock. Thank you for speaking up for singaporeans.
I wld like to say tt you are halfway there. Since most of the foreign talents have already settled in spore, we need the infrastucture, the facilities, the assurance that spore has not left us behind. The current schools, housing, transport and even recreation are in disarray.
We need ppl tt r forward looking, someone that acknowledge tt damage is done and rectify. I am also not against foreign talents if they r needed for e sustainabl
Dr Tan. Even though im not yet of legal age to vote now, but i sincerely hope that you would win this election. I personally felt that the other 3 candidates are somehow, insincere and didnt spoke out what i most feared of, Singapore being flooded by Foreigners.
I graduated with a highly specialised engineering degree and have extensive overseas experience. But upon returning to Singapore in 2002, I couldnt get any job for 2 years while foreigners with similar qualifications were hired and paid high salaries in our govt depts, stat boards and the private sectors. Frustrated, I sent emails to MPs but no one responded....Finally I surrendered my Singapore citizenship and now i'm a millionaire in Malaysia.
During the interview, he explained why he ‘supported’ the infamous detention, “I believed the information that was given to me from the government at that time. I saw that the people believed that they were conspirators as well. As Feedback Unit Chief, I could not let my own feelings dilute the general consensus, which I presented in Parliament.” Do you accept his explanation?
my frd company r ~70%myammar, ~5%India, ~10%china, but only less than 10-15% Singaporean/Malaysia.. & they get incentives frm Sing Govt for incentive in many of their new projects. Last year we viewed 1 flat for sale own by china PR returning back hometown. It was all mud inside. Also two my india colleagues r now going back to india after PR for few here year. They were manager and engineer. Another acquaintance goin back JB after completg 3yr bond, but my few sing frd jobless 1~2yr after grad.
Dr Tan has spoken from his heart and we should respect that and think deeply on what he has said. I believed he can forge a cohesive nation breaking down the racial divides. I second the idea of removing the racial help groups of CDAC, SINDA and MBMF and form just one help group for the poor. This is an excellent idea which in my opinion is of high moral standard.
I agree that Singaporeans should be protected. In the US, the employer needs to prove that a US citizen cannot do the job which is being offered to the non-US citizen before they are allowed to have a job in the US. In Singapore, there are so many foreigners here in the banks doing sales and trading and jobs which Singaporeans can do. I do not understand why our government policy does not protect Singaporeans.
Singapore grants US$702,000 scholarships to Vietnamese students!
Jul 27th, 2011 | Author: Online Press
(Vietnam) – The SG embassy in Vietnam has given scholarships worth a total of US$702,000 to 6 students in Hanoi n Ho Chi Minh City.
They will fly to Singapore frm July 27 to follow 3 or 4-year academic programmes at NUS, NTU n SMU.The full scholarships r provided by OUR SG Govt. Each student will receive US$117,000, which incl school fees, return plane ticket n daily living expenses!!
Dr Tan, You're a treasure to Singaporeans. I read from The ST Discussion Board that a commentator who called himself PR FIRST CLASS ' SHOT' SINGAPOREANS down that we were nothing without them! Please read those comments.
All these talk on Foreign Talents make them feel upshots among us. Where is our status as Singaporeans?
Actually felt sorry for George after GE2011, but now I feel that he bloody deserves it. Had the nerve to promise FT policy reviews during his rally speeches... he was the short sighted one that allow these foreign idiots in... Hope George Yeo rots in political exile forever... Serves him right to lose in Aljunied.
I think both TCB and TKL are good candidates that are not mere "PAPig Yes Men". But should both run, I fear that they would cannibalize on the non-establishment voter base. Really hope something could be arranged so as to challenge Tony 1-on-1.

How can you think Singaporeans without thinking Singapore?
Big picture first, that is the most important criterion.
If Singapore does not prosper, how can Singaporeans prosper?
