  • i love zombie movies ...but they always make me hungry!

  • "The people they kill get up and kill!"

  • No, Wooley isn't a racist at 6:50!

  • ..The basic brain functions located in the cerebrum and cerebellum. The first to process movement, the second for perceptory info. The medulla oblongata would not be reactivated given that it primarily deals with breathing and heart rate, two things which zombies no longer require. Theoretically this given them a distinct advantage over people: while people are faster and can run away, a zombie produces no anaerobic respiration due to movement and can chase you perpetually without ever tiring...

  • Actually a zombie is not all that far fetched. Stories of humans being hit with tetrodotoxin sprays in haiti and being buried alive likely inspired how zombie were portrayed in movies before romero. As for the practicality of making a real flesh eating zombie, youd need a virus that activates the central and peripheral nervous system, since they are capable of locomotion and use of the 5 basic senses (albeit to a primitive animalistic degree) My theory is that a zombie virus would reactivate...

  • This movie really does represent many of the issues of the 1970s: racism, police brutality, gang violence, abortion, consumerism, materialism, public distrust of the government. What's most interesting is that those issues are just as relevant today, if not more so!

  • wow, im a little shocked people are argueing this in depth over the creation of zombies.....cant you just enjoy the b rate movie for what it is

  • Rod Tucker's pretty lucky..he has no need to worry about becoming a zombie..BTW, 8:21 would have been the perfect opportunity for a Wilhiem...

  • so because they were killing the zombies they were redneck scumm?? how exactly is it so acceptable to call someone who happens to own guns and lives i the counry redneck scum? but yet so evil for a person to call a black person the n word? one standard is enough no need for double please

  • i aint got nothin either and i aint a rasisit

  • I like how this film and Night of the Living Dead portray the realism of racism. Here with that guy who keeps yelling insults at Blacks and Puerto Ricans. In the last movie having the main character be a black man caused a lot of tension and controversy.

  • I hope that World War Z focuses more on the zombie build up...as it happens. I think it will be that way. Should be a good movie.

  • @BanzaiSushi It's Probably Gonna Suck Because Get This...A PG-13 Rating

  • what a movie !!!!!!!

  • your awesome because uploaded it

  • Thank you for uploading

  • LOL people are dumb in this movie. That scientist is right just kill all the bodies and you won't have to worry about this. The zombies are slow as crap and easy to shoot. The Military would mow them down easily and private citizens would fight them off.

  • @volbound1700, The only problem is that in "Dead" movies, anyone who dies comes back as one of the zombies. Millions of people die naturally on a daily bases, this would make it impossible to contain a Zombie outbreak.

  • Hmm stuck in a small safe area with a pissed off hormonal pregnant chick or outside with the flesh eating undead?.....going to zombietown, see ya.

  • Hey! It's SNL's Pat at 0:31!

  • dead rising brought me here

  • You know you're on the air?!

Get back here on this console!

    Not That Room!

    Not That Room!

  • is this true?

  • "Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills get up and KILLS!!!"

  • @WeylandYutaniInc91 no. if u die from bullets. u dont turn. if they bite u or even spill blood in your mouth. < wierd i know lol u turn=]

  • @PLAY8OY11 I wasn't asking a question, I was quoting a line from this movie.

I know the zombie rules. And yes you will turn if you die from bullets. Unless you were shot in the head.

  • I've never seen a disease that made someone into a super human which is why the whole idea of fast moving infected people is bullocks. I mean when you get the flu do you run at top speeds speeding like a banshee?

  • @MaxamillianArturo no you walk extremely slow

  • @MaxamillianArturo no u dont run fast when u get the flu.

but when u on crack, speed, and other drugs u do run fast=] lol

    nd its a movie=]

  • @PLAY8OY11 Crack and Speed are both stimulants not illnesses or a virus.

  • @MaxamillianArturo true but it can be considered a illnesses due to the high addiction=]

i guess if this happens just hope its not near where u are because the government will bomb you. so stop the spreading from happening.

    regardless who is there =[

kill few mill so 100 million can live so Ny will go bye bye=[=[=[

  • @PLAY8OY11 For the greater good I suppose

  • @MaxamillianArturo ok the area where your family lives it got infected your family still alive the government tells u 2 press the button 2 kill the all city. would you?

    hard question=[

  • @MaxamillianArturo truth is you can argue that all zombie movies are bullocks seeing as zombie's need to eat to survive to get nerishment to the brain through blood that is if it is mean't to work the same as a living person so it would need a heart but yet if you shoot it in it dosen't die so then why dose the virus need the body to eat which brings up the question of can they starve to death there are also many other questions but that would take all day that being said i do like these films

  • @futureruler123 Not entirely. That whole comment hinges on the assumption that the cause is a virus, which is not the case. Romero zombie films never actually give a reason. The Living Dead series has its roots dipped in toxic waste. 28 Days/Weeks Later was due to a virus, but they are not zombies, just infected people. Thats why they can be taken down with shots to the chest and even starve to death. (cont)

  • @futureruler123 A zombies brain is basically dead. Very limited function and little to no cognitive memory. They have no desire except the most basic. Feeding. There are several zombie movies that talk about this in some detail. Imagine a babys mind in an adult body that never gets tired, never feels any pain but is constantly hungry. That is basically a zombie in the classical sense.

  • @richieblackhearted it still dosen't explain how the undead maintain a reserected life i assume it would have to be viral to be a hypathedical reality and an infetion of any type has to find some way to maintain life meaning blood needs to reach the infected brain also all infection has some type of life cycle meaning when it ends the host would die a third time as far as im concerened the crazies was romero's most realistic movie cause they are still alive cont.

  • @futureruler123 only now with warped minds and mutated bodys

  • @futureruler123 You miss the point, along with basic spelling and grammar. Zombies vs cellular regeneration. It does not mean a return to normality. Blood cells no longer need to regenerate via liver/kidney function, there is no need for oxygen via the lungs, the heart does not need to pump blood around a body that does not need it. Viral forces would still require the basic life support such as oxygen, vitamins, protein and minerals which viral bodies ingest from living cells. (cont)

  • @futureruler123 A body with a virus such as Rage (28 Days/Weeks Later) is still prone to normal physical harm. The virus itself might change the mentality of the victim in such a way that most injuries would not incapacitate them in the same way they would an uninfected person. However, a bullet to the heart, blood loss, suffocation and starvation would still be fatal because of the cellular need for basic stimuli. Zombies are not infected. All cells are dead. None of that matters. See?

  • @richieblackhearted im to busy to worry about grammer besides its not like this is a ressume or a document of some sort of importance anyway this still dosen't answer how a corpse comes back to life infections and toxic waste dose not work that way as for not being virus kind of infection then why dose it act like one sure a virus can survive in a corps like the flesh eating virus which even that has a life cycle all i want is some one to explain how these things could psssibly work in (cont.)

  • @futureruler123 real life becuase some people believe it can actually happen and if you or no one can tell me how then odds are it can't or won't happen

  • @futureruler123 OMFG!! Were talking about zombies and infected people! Where in the name of holy fuck does real life come into it!! You are actually a moron arent you? Am I being bigoted by ripping my hair out over a non sequential question from fucking Rainman???

  • @richieblackhearted dude stop being a douche bag if you were to of read all my comments you would know that all this time i was argueing the impossibility and yes there idiots out there belive this is possiable i thought you were one of them but your not appearntly

  • @futureruler123 Rabies. take 2 minutes out of fapping your basement dwelling life away and read up. There are infections that change mentality.

Total cellular reanimation is impossible! YOU CANNOT BRING THE DEAD BACK TO LIFE YOU ABSOLUTE PRICK!!!

  • @richieblackhearted i never said i thought that you stupid douche the fact that you resorted to calling me names just shows how limited you are atleast my mistakes are because i dont care your lack in the abillity to express yourself shows how brain dead you are even the brain eaters would not even touch you if there was a such a thing outside of film

  • @futureruler123 Grammar. Learn it.

    Full stops. Use them.

Thought process. Engage it before you make comments.

    Cunt. You!

  • @futureruler123 Are you being stupid on purpose? I told you weeks ago! ZOMBIES ARE NOT FROM AN INFECTION!! A simply introduces dead, zombified cells into the blood, which then kill and reanimate the following cells. Admittedly this is very similar to how a viral strain acts. However, a viral strain still requires life.

The infected from 28 days/weeks later die from starvation and normally mortal chest wounds.

Zombies can go without food despite the base, desire to eat. Read my previous posts.

  • @futureruler123 Just to clarify, A zombie is a person who has died and come back to life. All cellular function is dead, simply reanimated. The method of contagion differs from movie to movie but the premise is nearly always the same. A ZOMBIE is dead. They do need to breathe, eat or sleep. There is no need to regenerate a cell that is already dead.

Infected still have to take sustenance. They are still alive. Living cells still need to regenerate in the same way they did before infection.

  • @richieblackhearted I missed the word not there. I meant to say "They do NOT need to breathe, eat or sleep"

  • @richieblackhearted i already know it i don't need you to teach me the fact you have to lower yourself to such insults shows your lack intelligence you the fact that you belittle yourself in such a fashion and choose to nitpick and insult me over the computer tells me that your one sad little person whom wishes they could stand out in a crowed but don't a product of a broken home and a bad school life someone so cowardly they have to give insults over computer you're not a human you're slime

  • @futureruler123 its not that they dont it harder for them to catch animals

  • @richieblackhearted i really don't see that happening unless its viral therefore a zombie can't exist if it spreads like a virus it must be a virus

  • @futureruler123 Okk you retard, crayon time.

Zombies - Usually unexplained, Maybe supernatural or by chemical/radioactive stimulai. Dead people back to life! Wooooo scary!

Infected - Explained. Its a virus, like flu but instead of making you want to stay in bed and eat chicken soup, makes you get up and kill people. Still alive, just sick!

    Got it now??

  • @richieblackhearted read the last comment i sent you

  • @futureruler123 I read them all and replied to all. I have explained the difference between reanimation and viral infection a few times now. You either havent read my comments or you are too much of cretin to understand even when its drawn in chalk! For a self titled "futureruler" you are preemptively braindead! Who is going to vote for a dribbling fucknut who is "too busy for grammar"?

  • @richieblackhearted no you did not because if you did you would of saw the part where i told a guy that the idea of zombies actually existing was crazy so there for its pointless to argue weither a rage head is better then a traditional zombie he by the way was saying that he thought rage heads were unrealistic as for where you came in mr grammar nazi i dont know but here is why i think grammer is pointless on the net because since no one else cares then why should i anyway im sorry (cont)

  • @futureruler123 i wasted your time and you turned out to be an asshole

  • @futureruler123 the only problem i have is how they dont starve when humans become scareace and depending on whose zombies your talking about some of which only eat humans and not animals or other zombies and yet they don't starve one would think when they run out of humans they would eat animals then each other then again some might say they don't need to eat that the virus activates that part of the brain to make them hungry and makes them target humans

  • @futureruler123 to spread the disease kind of like animals with rabbies yet zombie viruses usually have zombies attack humans only so why is that

  • @futureruler123 they dont they attack animals but to them a human is a perfactly cooked steak, and an animal is mc-nugget

  • @osbmentproduce still a cow is like is a lot more than just one steak i always thought it would be more realistic

if zombies don't discriminate and went after anything also i woulden't just limit it to humans an effective virus or infection spreads as often as it can with no discrimination

  • @futureruler123 have you seen any of the films after this? in day of the dead the try to catch an alligator, in land one of them trys to eat a fish, in diary one is in a cubord eating rats, and in survival a group of them eat a horse

  • 2:34 one of the best lines EVER

  • Does anyone notice that the people often derided as immoral and evil by the large crowds are almost always vindicated as correct by the end of the film?

  • @Reazzurro90 It's almost like a hackneyed writing device i taught in creative writing schools.

  • @Hellfireblogs

    Hahaha

  • @ParasiteFromTheHills I agree. As much as I love traditional zombie movies - and I do - the idea of living infected is very scary and very realistic. Nevermind the fact that they are super fast!

  • The TV interviews and discussions is what made Dawn and Night so believable. Watching civilisation and society simply melt away was scarier than any special effect... It may not be a zombie plague but one day soon something will happen that will mimic this movies showing of how normal everyday society will collapse.

  • Remember when I was 4 seeing this strange and scary commercial for this back in 78. I really wanted to go but my parents said no so my great aunts my mom's aunts took me to see another horror classic around the same time. You guys mite know it HOLLOWEEN!

  • IF there ever is a zombie apocalypse I would gather up some smart tough people and go to a jail where the walls are thick and windows are hard to break through until we've got a better plan. Sounds good? They did it in Resident Evil:Afterlife and they got through pretty well :D except for the part where they started coming up from underground ._.

  • good upload

  • get that idiot off the air.. we talking zombies not football

  • 0:33

Is that a young Demitri Martin look-alike? hahaha

  • George Romero is brilliant. I love this movie!

  • The guy saying that the dead should be destroyed is making perfect sense, but the bleeding heart liberals wont let that happen.Thats how zombies take over the world because of the liberals.

  • @startrek553 you are 100% correct! Very true analogy.

  • @startrek553 I think it's more like a national order to cremate or decapitate their loved ones would make people angry.

But like the scientist said "if we handle this without emotion", which immediately makes people angry.

  • @startrek553, It has nothing to do with "bleeding heart liberals". If your mother was clearly dead and got up and started walking around, would you instantly think to shoot her in the head if you didn't know what was actually going on? The movies trying to convey the impossible nature of dealing with the undead and not knowing why they "come back".

  • @startrek553 It is not like Conservatives are not responsible too. After all their Judeo-Christian values of sacred burials are what led to most corpses not being cremated in the first place. The liberals supporting human rights may be making things a mess, but the Conservatives helped fuel the fire too.

  • What's worse than zombies at the mall? Zombies at the mall,... with horrible credit, ahhhhhh. No JC Penny card for you pal, lol. Or zombies who can't park their cars correctly, which happens at the mall I work at all the time, they're crazy, lol.

  • wheres part 2?

  • lol if zombies were slow we'de kill em all i mean in WW2 hundreds of thousands were killed and the had guns...how are some slow ass zombies gona overtake any kind of prepared person much less military....if it was a virus that caused it then yes RIG would set in..but if its supernatural then they would be (prolly) faster and stronger that a live person....think about skelitons in games (usually easy to kill) but they are bieng held together by magic or somthin..you'd have to turn em to dust ftw

  • This is a true zombie flick. Fast zombies are a desperate attempt to remake a classic like this. This whole trilogy is a work of art. Tom Savini really added the well needed gruesome touch. Fuck the new school posers with their wannabe vision of "horror".

  • @Subatomic1000 well when zombies first turn they have everything fresh so they can move fast, after awhile rigemortis hits and they slow up. so it makes sense

  • @Subatomic1000 I agree the new day horror sucks. But how would they be able to restore things to the ideal way?

  • @Vernedi all I know is that today's movies seem to have a pushy narrative and coddle the audience. The remake was decent as far as other remakes go, but the old school flicks really went all out to scare you.

The genre tends to redefine itself every decade. I actually thought "The Blair Witch Project" along with "Paranormal Activity" broke the same awesome ground as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974).

    Cheap, simple, and very effective.

I could rant on, but we don't have the time, lol.

  • eh i think speedy zombies are scarier I like it

  • This movie used to creep me out so much when I was a kid. I used to have nightmares that I was locked in that mall by myself.

  • @zrah1092 I rather have a dream of being locked in a mall by myself then locked in a mall with zombies XD

  • @CONKER17 Yea, I dreamt was locked in the mall WITH ZOMBIES! They are easy to get past tho as long as you don't get cornered.

  • @zrah1092 I know but you didnt say it lol. Your problem with be when they corner you and your forced to barricade yourself in a store.

  • If there were running zombies outside, i'd drop everything and run for my life, shiit.

  • I can remember having the soundtrack on vinyl. Wish I would have held on to them. I'll have to check e-bay or amazon to see if it would have been worth anything. I also had The Howling and Maniac. I remember ordering them from "Creepy" magazine.

  • @jamesschender : Yeah my 'older bro' owned that and would love to own that now. 'Original Unreleased Incidental Music' I bagged from amazon on CD! But just not the same (obv).....Great call tbh

  • The walking dead sucks donkey dicks compared to this or any other zombie movie ever made! More moral bullshit for the brainless zombie masses.I cant even watch it.Its sucks that bad!

  • At 1.15 the man and woman on the desk is Romero and his wife...

  • omg i cannot for the fuck of god watch the 2004 vers. adleast on full screen because of spammers.......

  • I love the set-up

  • They must be Destroyed on sight!!!

  • I love it, the rednecks are having a party blasting the zombies while the media liberals are trying to save them.

  • @MountMarcyNY At least the media liberals show the most humanity. Yes that makes them suicidal, but the red necks still appear as human scum.

Why do people here keep using this movie as an opportunity to attack Liberals anyway?

  • 40 zombies watched this and disliked it

  • whoever hit "dislike" is a total doucher and should go back to watchin MTV or some other BS

  • Thanks for uploading

  • GET TO THA' CHOPPA' !!!!!!1

  • 7:00 DAMNNN LOL

  • I LOVE this movie.

  • the best part in every living dead movie/story is when the "shit is hitting the fan". When the people are getting so freaked out that living corpses are attacking people.

  • Wow this is different....! I've watched the regular version so many times, and the difference is amazing! Thanks for posting.

  • Slight slip of the tongue from the Fran character at 5:42-5:43 - she says David (the actors name) instead of the characters name (Stephen)

  • @wenger1972 Wow, good catch. I've seen this movie dozens of times, and never noticed that.

  • @wenger1972 she says stephen

  • @wenger1972

wow i never noticed that - cant believe how blatent it is really! well spotted tho!

  • i have this and day of the dead on blue ray shame i aint got a blue ray player anymore

  • i can understand the concept of runners but if you want to be technical rigor mortis In a human, it commences after about 3 hours, reaches maximum stiffness after 12 hours, and gradually dissipates until approximately 72 hours (3 days) after death. so newly turned zombies would be able to run for a bit but after a couple of days or so you wouldnt really have to worry about runners. They would all be slow movers.

  • yeah! kill those hippie scum!!! XD

  • 2:46

Guy with the beard and cig = George Romero.

  • UK viewers - This movie is running on BBC iPlayer right now (29 Oct 10)

  • and where is the part 2?

  • if anyone wants a copy of the UNRATED, movie just ask me, many countrys cut parts out but i got ALL the footage expect for a 3 sec brain splatter from a head shot ill add that in later :3

  • @CONKER17 do u have a link for the movie?

  • @ANAHEIM8 its on thepiratebay . org

  • I love full movies on youtube.

  • I laugh everytime I see the host say "get that fuckin idiot off the air!!" LOL awesome film :D

  • anyone seen 'the dead pit'? its not as good as this but the zombies go around ripping peoples brains out with this badass pyscho doctor gone evil, check it out

  • It gets up and kills. The people it kills get up and kill.

  • where's part 2?

  • this movie is iconic , kid memorys here. hmm i can recall a recent game that takes place in a shopping mall . i wonder were they got the idea lol :)

  • @14kip dont forget on the box its not based on this movie

  • is this the scariest zombie movie? If not what is?

  • @jabames the remake genious, this isn't scary at all. it's bullshit when something walks at over half a mile a fucking day

  • @Pyro6Burning6Gundam6 Your fucken retarded its the way it works.. they dont run because there brain is bearly alive. this is legit and old school is better than the new shit is trash... nothing like dawn of the dead. If it isnt George A Romero then its not a zombie film son

  • @Andrewxx20 Amen to that, who ever heard of zombies running at you, It's more terrifying when then pretty much stealthy and you can't hear 'em coming, thank god "The Walking Dead" on AMC is doing it old school zombies

  • @Airsoftizbezt Can't WAIT for the Walking Dead. Hope it's as good as it looks!

  • @hotheadpaisen I've seen a few episodes of The Walking Dead. Not perfect, but very, very good.

  • @hotheadpaisen

I have it on DVD and it's motherfucking amazing. Period.

That is all. You might already know this, but it bears repetition.

  • @hotheadpaisen

Well good sir I have the complete first season and I loved it.

  • @hotheadpaisen ME NEITHER!!! IT IS BRILLIANT!!!

  • @hotheadpaisen it's better!

  • @darthnefas Nah. The first episode was almost jesus-proportion. The rest wasn't. Hince; Vatos.

  • @RussellClank I just hate it when they land you smack dab in the middle of the apocolypse and don't "build up" to it. This stuff doesn't happen overnight. First there would be a couple of stories in the news and next as people started getting back up after being bitten there would be a full blown epedimec that people were ignoring and then finally couldn't ignore.

  • @darthnefas I hate it too, but hey, it could be worse... Like it could be as bad as 'falling skies', lmao. I thought the show was stupid since it takes place in Atlanta, Georgia and nobody out in the country has an AR-15 assault rifle, SKS, or even AK-47 semiautomatic. I think us fans of the show could make a much, much better television series.

  • @RussellClank I'm not so sure the fans could to be honest. I've seen a ton of fan stuff and it's like the star wars stuff, it's just junk in writting and everything. I'm going to do some stuff soon.

  • @darthnefas very good point!

  • Comment removed

  • this is how zombies should be slow, fast zombies that are undead make no sense.... its called rigemortis people joints seize up shit just cant move like that after a while. zombies are scarier slower because what makes a zombie scary isnt that they are fast its that there are just so many of them

  • @thefatman69dude really?, coz if a zombie apocalypse did happen im pretty sure id rather have slow zombies than runners.

  • @thefatman69dude rigor mortis is only temporary =)

  • @thefatman69dude ya fast zombies im calling zombie bullshit on that.

  • @thefatman69dude what if there not dead just infected with some virus like in zombie land

  • @thefatman69dude When George Romero made Night of the Living Dead he got an expert in to see how a dead body would actually move and he said it was just didn't look right so hence the slow walk

  • @thefatman69dude lolol so you're saying that you'd be more afraid of 100 "disabled" zombies coming at you than 100 running zombies coming at you..

  • @thefatman69dude True talk man.Their strength lies in their huge numbers!!

  • @thefatman69dude Yeah, but if we're going to all scientific about it... . Anyway, I like the way "The Walking Dead" splits the difference: with shambling zombies wandering about, and groups of pissed off, hungry zombies using that last bit of energy to rush the living and dig-in.

  • @CARDUELIS999 yer i like that mix of fast and slow zombies, at the end of the first episode it surprised my how fast some of them were in the background

  • @thefatman69dude no i think fast zombies r scarier bc they get to u faster and u dont have as much time to shoot them

  • @cheetohfail fast zombies makes no sense whatsoever. dead bodies cannot move well... the muscle is deteriorated and the ligaments and joints are all fucked up... think about it... the zombies should go from extremely clumsy and slow... to not being able to move at all once the decay gets past a certain point. slow and plodding and jerky is how zombies should move. the good zombie movies do this.

  • @emilshere True, realistically a ghoul (correct term instead of zombie) would be slow. As someone else pointed out the fast thing seems inspired from 28 Days Later, where the infected could run.

  • @thefatman69dude just think your survival rate for a slow moving zombie is pretty good

but a fast moving zombie your survival rate just went down and rigamortis takes time to set in and you dont just die and your stiff it takes time and i think fast moving zombies are scary

  • @jaggerkack Yeah, but your rate of survival would be equally as low if you were surrounded by a thousand or even a hundred slow moving zombies. Running zombies may be able to get to you quicker but the true horror that derives from the concept of zombies is the disturbing realization that these soulless creatures were once living breathing warm blooded human beings just the same as you or i that are now monstrous, cold blooded flesh eating creatures that are ready to rip you apart and chow down.

  • @jaggerkack rigor sets in after only a couple hours

  • @thefatman69dude ..that and they are quiet when they are in few numbers =O sneak attack

  • @thefatman69dude Thats true but Rigor Mortis does eventually fade, its more the fact that as their cells are dead, they dont regenerate, if they could run, their muscles would snap and tear.

The first zombie in Day of the Dead was so badly rotted that his tongue fell off.

  • @thefatman69dude Rigor Mortis usually starts to take place at around 3 hours after someone is dead with full rigor occuring at about 12 hours after death. After the 12 hours rigor slowly ceases and at about 72 hours rigor disappears. Some fast zombies, some slow and even some stuck stiff lying on the ground, depending on how long they have been dead ? LOL cheers

  • @thefatman69dude even if it wasnt for rigemortis, zombies are dead tissue, if
