when the tank gets stuck and digs in it high-centers itself so this is actually a terrific idea as long as you find a way to keep big rocks out of the tracks. if the tank was twice the size with more track pad surface area you just might have the mythical 'unstoppable' tank within reach. wouldn't break the ground up as much either.
Hmm.. by the looks of things if they armed the turret with 2 cannons and some rocket launchers it would've been a real life Mammoth tank or Apocalypse tank..
@TheDarqTurk king tiger??? your kidding the KT have 88 mm gun while troyanov have 130 mm gun with armor thickness 305 turret and 269 hull but if you compared it with MAUS it may be good but troyanov was designed of anti nuclear radiation and wave
i allways thought the russians made these tanks to be in a nuclear bomb drop zone. and the reason for the "ufo"shaped armore was so the blast would travel around them not blowing them over.
@TheDarqTurk It's far too flat - flat turret sides, flat sides, the only part of it sloped is the front. Overall far too tall and with armor that was weak against HE shelling.
I remember this tank from CMC: The Aftermath (An RTS set in the mid 60s after the Cuban missile crisis goes hot)
I loved it while playing as Russia in game as it could pimp slap just about anything the enemy could throw at...except the accursed British Conquerers!
Russia has always produced inovative (but not always practical) weapons designs.
yeah, you'd be surprised how much stuff that really existed that they put in mgs, the ground effect vehicle did exist, the flying one person pod did exist, but weren't really functional, the ciphers from mgs2 did exist too. Kojima is really careful with small details.
Very cool, though I'd hate maintaining it in the field esp changing the inner tracks. Wider twin tracks would accomplish the same goal for less money and complexity.
The days of building lots of functional prototypes produced some fascinating vehicles.
great video, also for all military enthusiasts, check out hmvftv com (like you tube but for all things military), i keep plugging it to try and get more videos on to the site, and more people aware of it, thanks again
ok !!! multiple track provides more grip at swamp areas.... 300mm gun for a good argument. thick skin and nice elevation provide some heavy ressistance for most armour penetrating projectiles. yeah build this alien tank and sent it back to mars where it belong. ha h ah ah !!!

24 shells? The tankers would have had to rely on skill and the durability of thier tank/tank armour.

This type of tank compare in "Metal Gear Solid3: Snake eater" isn't it?
dodisnake 3 years ago
Yes I believed it was fictional but it was real!
peruboy4 2 years ago
It was constructed for nuclear war. Although it was created in 1957 it can still be successfully used against modern tanks.

I think if you have 4 tracks you won't stop after loosing one, so crew won't change them in feild anyway.
