Compelling reasons for us consumers to know the source of our food and how it gets to our table. All factory farming is cruel and inhumane. Everything is loaded with chemicals and the industry is highly polluting. A more sustainable, healthy choice is to support local, organic and humanely produced food. This is not the industry standard. I worked in an egg factory. We had 2 chickens per cage not 4 or 5. Our houses were lit better. I NEVER saw a cage with hooks on it. Those are very poorly designed cages. I NEVER saw a chicken with a boil or other large infection, no sinus infections, we ventilated constantly. The air was not full of dust. We did have a automatic feeder that would occasionally cut off a chickens head tho. Any chicken that died Had a mini autopsy to check for diseases.

I have been to this egg farm many years ago when chicken manure leaked into a stream and caused a fish kill. They denied they had a problem, the odor from that place was unbelievable. It ruined the town of Croton. This company is not one our country should be proud of. Buy your eggs locally and pay a little more per dozen. The only way this can be stopped is to not purchase their product.

I love chicken and eggs. But I remember from where I come from originally from a village, the chickens are allowed to run free, and lay eggs at their own discourse. Only a selected amount of eggs are consumed while the rest are allowed to breed. My grand parents were farmers, and they were never this cruel to their animals. Besides, the best quality of poultry and meat comes from animals in are free and thus in PERFECT HEALTH.

I too am from the country and some of my fondest memories are of watching the little chicks run around with the chickens and rooster crowing. I one day hope to run my own free range goat and chicken farm, where I can live off what my animals naturally produce without guilt, but with satisfaction for happy animals and a job well done.

When I was little (around 8-10) years ago. my father had a farm, to grow chicks/chickens.

Male chickens has no value, its a well known fact. We dont kill them or let them die on its own.we usually just sell them out for cheap price. some people dont mind the taste (male chicken taste bad) as long as the price is good.
