They are replacing the current engines with 1,6 litre turbos in the near future. What a fucking joke! V 10 or V12 is everything that formula fans want.
@kallo182 you are very right sir, i didnt even think about it but really was stupid of me you can easily see the handling difference. definatley look like it weighs more
@Connactzor to make them "greener", and more economical. But they have better aerodynamic shape, and better gearboxes (the new one are seamless)...etc
To give an idea the V10 developed nearly 950bhp and the V8 (used now) about 750-800Bhp but the in Australia for instance the 2010 cars (eventhough less powerful) were quicker in qualifying, but in fast circuit like Monza the V10 makes the difference.
How come so much money in the sports, and no ones gonna fit the 1,5litre 1200hp engine in those 2004 formulas, and put slicks on it. It would be the fastest possible track thing ever :D Just for show, please.
no...the fuel just decrease the grip of the car...its comparation about using engine ...not driving skill...driving skill by massa and trulli is good but different is speed using the engine
@MrMorg19 yes, and Kimi Raikkönen did 1:13.5 in 2005 with a V10. and the rb6 is so much better in aerodynamics and tyres (slicks).... imagine the rb6 with a v10 engine... it would be even faster
@bettuva very little electronic control?? you`re kidding right. back then it was much more about electronics than now, TC has been banned in 2008, and Id say I prefer knowing its drivers doing the job not the computers
@MrMorg19 but you cant argue montoya hitting 231 mph in a v10 at monza... it's sad looking at it now the cars can ONLY JUST hit 210 there if not a little slower and most tracks dont even hit 200 anymore where in the v10 era the cars would hit 200 on any decent straight, it is a noticeable difference, i think they'll become a few seconds a lap slower yet again when the v6 turbo engines are introduced since they want to make them eco and reliable..i just hope f1 cars don't become more like gp2...

There is no discernible difference in speed. The v10 sounds better.

Why did they go to V8 when V10 is faster?

Safety concerns

What was so unsafe then? I don't get it lol xD Sorry

The cars were too fast.

Ah oke, thx for the answers ;)
Connactzor 2 years ago
@Connactzor its for an f1 more cheap and its faster coz traction control!!!
IvanMD09 2 years ago
@Connactzor: FIA want to slow the cars down (which is IMO totally against F1 being the 'fastest' sport)
