  • Was Peter Jones involved ?

  • O.O Alright... who raided the Crystal Maze for the gems?

  • @MrWerewolfDude Yes there was, see later episodes. He was the Rangdo of Arg. Played by Kenny Baker.

  • Wasn't there a talking (kind of), plant in this series. .

  • gronda gronda, doogy rev.

  • crystal maze? haha !

  • Fred Harris is a legend!

  • Fucking hated this.....The guy that does the narration at the beginning is the same bloke that did the opening intro to...SUPERTED!!!!!!

  • This was a great little show. Really liked it when I was a kid.

  • Bloopers!

at 1:54 moira stewart introduces herself by her real name but is called darong in the credits.. and at 8:05 the guy calls Charmian by her real name not her character gnoard

  • The game with all the shapes on the floor was completely obscure. I often wondered whether they made up the rules as they went along.

  • wtf am i watching

  • oh wow may 24th 1980, watching this was worth staying in for.

  • The people from other planets are british awesome!

  • You, LiveSteamMad, are a star, and I think I love you; I never, ever thought I would be able to see this again. Many, many thanks for the uploads :D

  • Haha - saturday afternoons on BBC2 - I loved this show!! Total inventiveness and creativity on a 1970s BCC2 budget!! Loving this!! BBC- PLEASE release these on DVD! :-)

  • Charmian Gradwell - Yes Please : )))

  • Look out, it's Moira Stuart!

  • Fred says it all....."BUT WHY?!"

  • Those crystals look just like the ones in the Crystal Maze

  • Brings back memories. Thanks for uploading. Looking forward to watching the rest of your uploads.

  • hello have you got more copys of the adventure game?

  • @jtw52 read the description, it tells you there which ones I have

  • OMFG I LOVED this prog when I was young, looking back I see how middle class I was brought up, but looking back I realise why I as an 8 year old spent so much screaming at the tv, ie its a kids show, think like a kid u fecking over thinking adults, either that or get massively stoned, thats how the producers and actors did including "this is the news" Moira Stewart

  • @troybadoo hahahaha i think we were all middle class that watched this. I remember myself and my mates used to play this game during the summer holidays. We would use chalk and drew the shapes and colours on the slabs. And picked a square for the vortex at the end. - Rather sad now I think. Mind you better than sitting in fornt of a computer game. We did have lots of then.

  • @RussinTirnaNog I wasn't middle class, my family was poor and I still watched it. It's got nothing to do with class, it's got everything to do with intelligence and wit. Cheers.

  • If you don't shut up I'll give you a left hander!

  • A shit crystal maze. Oh memories.

  • Instead of seeing a kid's program that I used to watch and enjoy, I'm seeing shape-shifters and occult symbol programming! Thank you, internet, for warping my mind.

  • So Moira Stewart, long-time BBC News presenter, is a shape-shifting alien lizzard...

And you thought it was all conspiracy theory!

  • Fred Harris - children's TV legend!

  • ha ha here is the news pmsl its moira stewart before she read the news lol

  • 06:29 onwards - That ping pong ball puzzle made my brain ache!!!! How convoluted and complex was that?!!??!!?!??? It'd take weeks to work that one out!!!! Still, a classic TV show and an example of how long people's attention-spans were back in the 1980's (i.e they lasted a hell of a lot longer than the 10 second attention span of most viewers these days!!!).

  • Fred's looking particularly bushy here!

  • reliving this really does tarnish my memory. Moira Stewart could just be reading the news at Breakfast as much as be an Argon. And as for the production... love the way the beeb gets frustrated and sends in a clue... "the combination is green and triangle, but we dont know why", Moira mutters under her breath, "just shut the fudge up and get on with it, Ive got to get over to studio two to report on the Falklands in twenty minutes... we havent got all day.

  • @seamanrob - LMFAO! :-D

  • It's T Bag

  • I used to love this show as a kid, thanks for posting

  • I remember this. I was six when it started and i remember the vortex used to scare the shit out of me lol

  • WOW!!!! I watched this like an insane person as a kid and until now I didn't realise Moira Stewart did this before the BBC news... then again I was 12 when it finished thanks for the happy flashback

  • Great Programme this!!!! loved it!!

  • wow not seen this for 20 years took me a while to find it too had forgotten name

  • i used to adore this, but no one remembers it :)))

  • @rockchic33able - Well over 12,000 viewers at this time of writing doesn't constitute "no one" now does it?!?!?!? :-D

  • @jcpadmore obviously i meant people i know!! :/

  • The production values for this show were never great, but they never have been for kid's shows and probably never will be. In terms of challenges, they compare well with later game shows (the logic in Crystal Maze was no tougher and never involved puzzles in combination, same with Krypton Factor) and could be understood perfectly by the youngest viewer whilst still enjoyed by the oldest. Thanks for putting this up, the BBC never responded to my request for this on their youtube page.

  • Elisabeth Estensen was also in a comedy series in

the 1970's (made by the BBC) Called The Liver Birds.

Odd to see Moira Stuart the BBC newsreader on this

    show.

  • how funny is this show - i used to love it!!!

  • Thanks for the upload , but I've never seen so much shit in all my life , it was shit when I was 8 and it's worse now......

  • @150tries I agree :D

  • Ooh, how clever! A "left" room!

Thx immensely for uploading this enjoyable show. Wish it would've aired in America too =[

  • i wasnt born when this aired but when they put it on challenge i loved it an 18 year old girl like me enjoyed watching it thank you for posting

  • Thank you so much for posting this and other epidodes. I'm 41 and remember this show from when it first aired. I even remember some of the puzzles after all these years. I'm gutted to read that the BBC actually erased some recordings just to save money. How short-sighted!

Why aren't there more shows like this today?

Looking back it seems like puzzle shows were in vogue in the 1980s. What's happened? Is it that people have computer games to play?

  • @overlayuk Well, they *were* recorded on 2-inch Quad - and that stuff was VERY expensive...

  • Is that Diane the Landlady from Emmerdale ?

  • @theprospecttavern yes that's right. She also played T bag from the children's TV programme which I adored so much!

  • @LiveSteamMad The LIVERBIRDS TOO!

  • @theprospecttavern She was also in the Liver birds as well taking over from Polly James

  • @theprospecttavern yep and acording to this shes got a green ring pmsl! to much rolling around with jack in the fields in emerdale lol

  • Thank you so much for uploading this wonderful tv programme. Are you going to upload any more episodes?

  • It was one awesome show for its time.

  • This look like a cool show back then!! I was born 2days after thos show premiered May 26, 1980

  • What an awesome Xmas pressie :) :) :) SO subscribed. Can we have the other series too pleeeeezs? :)
