Thank you for uploading this. To hear someone who was raised there speak of memories is quite sad but helps personalize the place. I've seen various photo essays about Gunkanjima but none conveyed the feeling of "home" quite like this video.
Hello, I like this docu very much. I would love to know more about the circumstances. Why did the people left an took so less with them? Is there any more information I could get? My Japanese isn`t quite very good to read :-(
Mr Surferboy, I seem to take your critique seriously, as this film, made in 2002, has met with nothing but praise. Perhaps you are more interested in the quieter, more mediative version set to electronic music with my partner. here it is only the island itself that speaks.
Thank you for your critique. Not sure where I am "complaining" by responding to your comments.
@ surferboy you obviously miss the point of a documentary on this scale about a place not many people know about much less have seen on film. stop complaining and except the brilliance of it for it's simplicity .

Surferboy Sir, what do you mean by that comment? Was there something unsatisfactory in the editing of the film Hashima?
How would you do it differently? I am eager to know..
yours,
