Good ideas about the cold weather Piss P-- I saw last winter 20 frost bite amputations I did not see the one's who died though they were not around. When I was a young militia attach to a uniiform group a unseasonal cold front came in and killed the entire unit of apprx. 100 soldiers I was the only survivor I still remember their black swollen faces and limbs.
I have know these things since 1968 // Family is telling me i am to old to be effective what I know has save hundreds of lifes in the pass FROM 1978 TO1993 I worked AS an ARC volunteer at hurricane and other disaster Shelters dealing the needs of my hometown in fire floods but i still do not have a gun I am the cook mass care feeding always have boiling water going to make coffee, sanitizes items for wound care or put "things" on ice.
Recently I bought more wool thermal baselayers and wool glove liners. Along with a cuben fiber dry bags to put my clothes and down sleeping bags in. The cuben fiber is very light material that Hikers use to keep things light on the trail. I found that hikers here on youtube have alot of good idea's on layering to stay warm, cooking sets, shelters and ways to keep your pack load Light. I bought some gators and rain mitts made out of a light waterproof material called Event. Nice to stay dry.
