  • super mario world pwns this

  • @Happytreefriendsfan3 Wow, wow, completely different games on completely different consoles and designed for completely different markets.

Not to mention, Commander Keen was a big jump in PC gaming. The first game was the first true example of side scrolling on the PC, due to the limitations of not being able to redraw the whole screen. Not to mention, ID Software, maker of Commander Keen went on to create Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and later Quake and Rage.

  • @Gmod1001 completely different games? yeah right,in both you jump on enemies, and go trough a 2d environment, the only difference is the level select screen

  • @Happytreefriendsfan3 Facepalm, have you ever even played Commander Keen? First off, you dont jump on enemies, you stun them with a fucking stungun, the 2D environment thing is ridiculous, thats like saying Mario is better then Contra because Contra is also a 2D Sidescroller.

The games both feel different, different consoles, different control schemes, different story, and not the mention the enemies actually have AI instead of just "Walk, turn, walk"

  • @Gmod1001 suprise butthurt? super mario world owns this, get over it,no platforming game can beat mario,he's a fucking classic

  • @Happytreefriendsfan3 Wow, someone has problems.

Mario is a great game, but these two games, although they may both be platformers, are different games, with different style, and different developers, for a different console, aimed for different markets, with different challenges that needed to be overcome during development, with a different aim, a different goal, a different feel. This is actually the first time I have ever compared these games, I never related Mario and Keen.

  • @Gmod1001 yeah that's great,but mario's winning anyways

  • @Happytreefriendsfan3 Im done, Comparing Mario and Keen is like comparing Elder Scrolls with Zelda, it just doesn't work.

Lets just go ahead and agree, they are both great games.

  • @Gmod1001 yeah,lets

  • 2 best games by ID software

    Doom and Commander keen :)

  • This is the most awesome game ever!! :D

  • I have beaten this game before!

  • Nice to see you review some computer games. I'm more of a computer gamer my self, I like Commodore 64, Amiga, and MS-DOS games, among others.

  • I haven't played this for AGES, DOSbox here I come!

  • FINALLY I HEARD THE NAME OF THIS GAME! I played this when i was like 5-7 and i could understand english back then so i just called the game something like "Jumping Man" (Ridicilous huh :D) then our computer broke down and it was lost and It just faded out of my memory but just few months ago i rememberd the game and i have been searching it until now. THANK YOU!

  • This is the Keen game that I always remember!

Well, this one and Keen Dreams, but this one is better.

  • Game seems surprisingly deep.

  • voice is welcoming and sweet.

  • I HATED the water-level!

    But i loved Commander Keen <3 :)

  • OMG I had completely forgoten about this game. What a blast from the past.

  • I used to play this when I was about 7 or 8 at school and then my computer teacher gave it to me in one of those discs called 3 1/2 A or something like that! OH THE MEMORIES! :)

  • All those yesterdays u.u

  • Doom still pwns keen

  • child memory :´) <3

  • The brief transition to doom was hilarious lol

  • Aww man i miss the good old days, i loved comander keen but i fricken hated that robot though i remember back when i played it with my nanna and she used to call out to me when i was in my room "Here comes robbie!" XD ahh nostaligia i can't tell you how much i miss retro

  • well girl who like old games lol gimme some not sayig this usually

  • the secrets are not "literally everywhere" what a stupid thing to say

  • @marzilyas What a stupid comment - she defines what she means by "everywhere" if you listen to her for more than five seconds. Anyone who has played the game will know that she is actually correct. Every level \ wall \ area has something hidden that can be found.

I think it's time for the "think before you write" routine.

  • @jlandles do you know what "literally" means?

  • @marzilyas I do, and I also know it is often misused to provide additional emphasis. In this case, however, I think it is a reasonably apt description. Moreover, I do not feel the need to go about the internet writing negative comments about other people's creative contributions on such a feeble basis.

  • @jlandles so you think that any kind of critique that's not completely adulatory is invalid?

  • @marzilyas Whoa! Talk about a fallacious dichotomy! Apparently you think that the only alternative to negativity is adulation and sycophancy. I assure you that it is not. There is a balanced and moderate middle-ground. Moreover, I like to think that most people figure out that it is smart not to communicate all that one thinks, and that critiques, when they need to be made, should be done with intelligence and sensitivity. I'm afraid "what a stupid comment" demonstrates neither.

  • @jlandles I'm sorry I didn't criticize this squeaky girl's voiceover with "sensitivity." It's good that she has good folks like you in her corner.

  • @marzilyas I'm glad that you at least recognise my point, even if apparently you disagree. From a practical point-of-view, sensitivity is a useful life-strategy. It minimises blow back.

  • @jlandles "blow back" lol what a terrible in-vogue-among-morons word as well

  • @marzilyas My guess is that with an attitude like the one you display, you're going to experience a lot of it.

  • @jlandles well life is one big military metaphor, so you're correct. I might get blowback from this squeaky voiced girl's ruthless insurgency.

  • @marzilyas You win. If you do not know what I'm talking about, then you probably never will. You can continue to travel your road of negativity and insult, and maybe we can check in after 10 years to see how it's workin' for ya! Have fun.

  • @jlandles because if I decry the misuse of the word "literally" on a youtube comment then my entire life must be a "road of negativity and insult." Remember, you are the one who called me a halfwit at the outset!

  • @marzilyas Untrue. But I don't care to chase the issue. I don't think my point has gone across anyway. As I said, man, you win.

  • @jlandles "critiques, when they need to be made, should be done with intelligence and sensitivity" see, in general this sentiment is humane and true, but in this context your concerns are hyperbolic and misplaced

  • @marzilyas LOL. OK, man.

  • I like your voice. You sound so sweet.

  • I played it 18!!!!!! years ago aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • same I played this ages ago, i loved that little red bouncy ball dude.

  • Commander Keen 4 is more fun than eating cheese in a particularly sneaky fashion. The sheer variety of levels and enemies is astounding, and the Dopefish is adorable. In a sick, masochistic kinda way. I still plan on frying him if I ever get the chance though, cute or not. Irritating b...

  • these guys were game making geniuses! Commander Keen, Wolfenstein, Doom, etc... They understood that video games should be FUN. You don't need to be spoonfed a plot, just grab your weapons and go for it!

    Thanx!

  • @2long2cat viva la second birthday when i completed it before xmas 1992 d=D

  • she sounds hot

  • Keen...omg haven't played this since i was 6yrs old

  • that back ground music is amazingly nostalgic.

    i love this game!

  • This game was so awesome, it came on one of my first computers. Those walking rocks and fire monster scared the crap out of me... and the little green monster crawler, and the walking two-headed...things. My favorite was probably Mirage World, though it didn't have any red balls and blue fire-breathing balls, lol.

Nice one id, nice one. Dopefish ftw!

  • i remember this game!!!!! my dad got a version off the internet for his comp! this was one of the first games i learned how to access on the comp thru DOS programming! wow!!!

  • I can't believe you have this game! I loved this game as a child.

  • Her voice is adorable. :3

  • i like doom more

  • Can u tell me whats the relation between Commander Keen and DooM.... u know (really not but...) i love the doom sagas and in a secret level i found 4 commander keen hanged and i was always like "WTF??" so if u or somebody else could tell me that, would be very nice.... btw i think mostly people ask if thats ur real voice, its just cuz it sounds really good... (or at least i think so) thx and good bye

  • Both Keen and Doom were made by id Software :)

  • @rinrygamegame

And both are made by carmack if i'm not mistaken

  • I'm pretty sure that there's no direct connection between Keen and Doom, other than a few in-jokes due to them both being made by the same people.

However, it's been established that Commander Keen and Wolfenstein 3D take place in the same continuity, as Billy Blaze is meant to be B. J. Blazkowitz's grandson.

  • reminds me of Ducktales

  • i loved this game when i was a kid

  • Dang, what happened to this series? This was an awesome nostalgic game series that I really liked. I also liked the pong minigame on Keen's watch thing in CK4. 8D

  • APOGGE NO TUBO Q VER CON ESTE JUEGO? X Q EN UN NIVEL DE BIO MENACE 2 NIVEL 7 CREO TIENES QUE RESCATAR A KEEN

INGLeS:tube apogge not anything to do with this game? x in a level of bio menace 2 level 7 I q tienes q then appear keen to rescue

  • i remember playing this on my 486

  • What a blast from the past. Altho i played the first 2 games the most...and i recall them both as ranking very high on the ASS list.

  • This game was so good I grew up wit it when I was a kid!

  • I used to LOVE playing this game on my Dad's PC. AAAHHHH!! The memories!!

  • I prefer Duck Tales~

    But I don't.

    Damn.

  • Whoa. Whoa.

Wait. You took over "Game Quickie"?

  • Nostalgic memories of me playing this game have suddenly rushed to my mind.

Thanks, Rinry! Great job and awesome video!

  • Commander Keen 4.. brings back good memories.

btw Rinry, you have a beautiful voice as well ^^ love your videos

  • Oh my god I LOVED Commander Keen when I was a kid! Its one of my favorite games of all time. You're like my retro game hero, Rinry. =D

  • These videos should be presented in a picture-in-picture format. The larger picture would display the video game montage. The smaller screen would be of the girl's face.

It's not like I watch these videos to NOT jack off.

  • You even included the inch-worm-foot secret! Now that's real dedication.

  • I love you....I use to play the shit out of this game at school.

  • I used to play this game... so awesome

  • Ahh Commander Keen 4 :) One of my childhood favourites too :)

  • Holy crap, I loved that game back when I got it free with a joystick I bought for X-wing. I actually managed to beat it and get just about everything! I hope I can find it to download nowadays....

  • Whats wrong with Doom?

  • Nothing at all! It's just a surprising change.

  • youre the shit Rinry, thanks for posting this, i forgot all about commander keen but as soon as i saw that packers helmet it all came back to me, i even remember the sound effects, great pick for a game quickie.

  • Commander Keen was surely a very appealing game. I remember playing this a bit, but I do remember the game being pretty difficult for me (I was 7 or 8 around the time).

    Nice video presentation overall. :D

  • They need a section on xbla for these kinds of games, theres so many that I've missed out on. Or even incorpate them into the upcoming game room, perhaps in a cupboard somewhere on a dos pc

  • a normal 8 year old genius xD

  • I played this game all the time as a kid.

  • I love your vids. <3
